4:48 in case of they lose possession on the corner, you can have the goalie play up as sweeper in case they send a through ball

7:11 Coach this is great stuff! I love the '3' sneaking behind the keeper. Could be total chaos in the box!

Could you do a video on defending free kicks. When to make a wall, who should stand on the wall, how many on the wall and goalie positioning. My girls are U9 and going against teams who can now lob the ball over the wall.

Coach Rory I was recently selected to coach our U9/10 All-Star girls team and I will be hosting two tryouts for the team. Do you have any recommendations on drills that would be best over the hour long tryout to assist in making the decision on who would be best for the team? Thanks!

Angled run, and then once they see the cross, they move - that's important! Gotta implement that....

Yeah this is really hard for younger players.

Just wanted to let you know that we employed this angled run technique to excellent effect! We scored a very high percentage of goals off corners in our tournament this weekend. Worth work this out with your teams, for sure!

Two things: first off, as a first year travel coach for 7v7, the amount of knowledge you are so generous with is incredible. Second, what is the app you use for the play layouts

Can describe how to coach the timing of the runs with the kicker putting their arm up and down and that the runners are supposed to understand?
@MikeBaas2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I mean this has to be done over and over in practice to get the timing down. Once the arm goes down they start the runs but the runs have be started slowly than faster at the end

@@CoachRorySoccer so they slowly run along 18 once the arm goes down and then they gun it to their spot and we just work on the timing and aim again and again, I imagine.

@@MikeBaas Yep. They just have to do it a bunch to understand the timing.

What do you mean at the very end when you say for defending corners they should always be "goal side"?
@sonnyzadeh Жыл бұрын
Between the opponent and the goal. Shouldn’t have their mark be closer to the goal then them.

@@CoachRorySoccer Ha, yes, it sounds so obvious when you explain it. THANKS!

this is recommended for u11 and u12 also?
@user-ju4bx3mj6v2 жыл бұрын
Yes similar concepts. You are playing 9v9 at U11 so there are some additional considerations. Perhaps a dedicated 9v9 corner video is in order?

plus you don't play offside in 7v7 so it's irrelevant if the corner taker goes to the byline or around the back of the receiver. varying this is a good idea to challenge the defender, and also to create shooting opportunities by cutting inside, or a drive pass across the goal.
