We're working with our new pup and Brandon's advise was just what I needed. Wish he'd just come and train for me haha but it's good for us and happy to have this new set of tools to use on our pup.

  • My black lab boxer was left in the care of a family member we thought we could trust. He beat our Minnion. The physical has healed but the emotional damage is harder. I can't walk her, she pulls. She is afraid of so many things now that she wasn't before. Her 2 real fears are people who smoke and children. I have been watching your videos to find some way to help my dog. This isn't her fault but, she's he one paying the price. I know your quite busy but if you could point me in the right direction I would be grateful. Thank you for your time.

    • I just got a rescue who has fears, and I work on desensitizing him and also loving him alot. For example, if I send him to his bed using a stern voice, he cowers and slinks away. It is heartbreaking! So, I use alot of play, happy, high-pitched playing baby talk to try to get him out of that mental state. I am so sorry to hear that happened with your dog. I do believe it will take time, so hang in there and the very best of luck!

I work 10-hour days and have every Monday off. Not sure how a schedule would do with a dog starting off due to training and everything else involved. Just looking for some advice! Thank you in advance!

    @timmywick@timmywick Жыл бұрын
    • It is my opinion that dogs are family members and should be given the time they deserve to be with family. With that said, my advice would be to get a breed that is less active, needs less food, is easily potty trained, and doesn't suffer from separation anxiety. It's a big expense to own a dog, and just like us, they'll need medical care. Make sure your budget allows for a dog. Before you get a pet make sure you have all his or her needs, bowls, beds, toys, chew toys etc. Also, if you live where ticks are bad get medicine right away. I use Simpiraca. It covers heartworm, ticks, fl, etc. all in one pill a month. Find a vet first before getting a dog. Ask around coworkers, friends and neighbors for a vet you can understand and converse with is very important. One thing I will suggest is to select a dog that is low maintenance when it comes to shedding. Working 10 hours a day doesn't give you much time to clean up hair and still have time to enjoy your dog. Lastly, get a breed that fits your lifestyle and family. There are many books that will help you select the right breed for you and your family

      @hadassahpeace4733@hadassahpeace4733 Жыл бұрын
    • TJ definitely get a lower energy dog. You might want to think about getting a 2 year old or older from a good rescue that's potty and crate trained already. It's too much to ask a puppy to hold it for 10+ hours. There are some lower energy large breeds out there. English mastiff, some rotties, boerbels can be couch potatoes, but still need exercise. Although large breeds definitely cost more to take care of. Food, meds, beds, etc., are all more expensive for larger dogs. Definitely stay away from malinois, border collies, aussies, heelers, any working line lab/retriever. Imo you have to be able to commit to spending 20-30 minutes daily with total focus on dog, playing, walking, not sitting there watching tv. You can pay a dog walker to get your dog out while you're at work, but keep in mind most won't walk large breeds, especially guardian types. Doggy day care can be good, but it's hard to find a good one where employees know what they're doing. Seen lots of dogs hurt at some places.

They grow till 2 years old. My dog's father was 140. Good example: Football players weigh in at bulk size of over 200 lbs. Runners are lean and got the speed. High weight low speed. So your right depends on the parents I guess as far as build and weight. I just love how thick chested my CC is. I know a guy who breeds Dobermans. It's just my opinion I'm not impressed with them even though they are good looking dogs. When I was a kid neighbors had 2. They scared me away from Dobermans. Nothing cuddly about them.
