Agility: Late Footwork in Contact - When looking to beat a defender we must create uncertainty in their decision making. We can then utilise this uncertainty to cause a "weak shoulder" that we can then attack. Once a "weak shoulder" has been created, it is rare a dominant tackle can be made. This will allow the ball carrier to either break the tackle completely or, at worst, get over the advantage line.
Key Pointers: Progression #1 - No Ball
- Attack defender square
- Late 45deg step with outside leg
- Quick plant with inside leg to square hips (needs to be down prior to contact)
- Punch through cones as fast as possible
Key Pointers: Progression #2 - With Ball
- Same pointers as progression #1
- Transfer ball away from contact
- Guard up with inside arm at contact point
