his whole character is based on Shouten Doji, character from japanese folklore. Once noble samurai, who turned into "Oni" after his obsession with combat. Like Shouten Doji, Akuma skin turned dark and his hair turn white.

It's a retcon, sadly. In Alpha 3 Akuma specifically states that it's "not my fists but your past sins" as he teleports his opponent to Hell where they attacked by demons. The more sins committed, the deadlier the attack. Hence the name Instant Hell Murder. Seeing Akuma just punch his victim repeatedly takes the mystique out of it. 😢

The fact that Akuma has become so powerful that he's desperate for a good fight is probably the best way they could've taken his character. I also love the subtle mannerisms he has now, like actually smiling at the possibility that he has a real fight on his hands to the fact that he almost looks sad after killing his opponent, like he either saw too much in them or it was over too quickly. Either way, it feels like the natural next step for a character who is all about getting stronger, no matter the cost, as what do you have left to accomplish once you've reached the top?
It's like they took Isaac Netero's philosophy from HxH and gave it to Akuma
He is The True Master of The Fist or dramatically the Demon of Killing Intent (Akuma Satsui No Hado). Plus if you listen to the english version of his Raging Demon it almost sounds like "To Shake the Heavens, and Reach the Summit, Become The Demon" while I'm sure in Japanese it's worded different but the meaning is the same. Akuma wants a fight to prove worthy of his skill and teaching and outside of Ryu or Ken (if Ken gave into the Satsui No Hado) he has no worth while challenge. Especially since neither of his brother's pupils ended up going down his path but come close to this power.

Basically, the raging demon is you being devoured by your own demons. Thousands and thousands, might be more depending on what kind of person you are. And of course, there is no worse demon to do it than Akuma.
Rather, it seems the other way around. The one who USES the Raging Demon is giving into his demons for some sort of ultimate attack. You hear Akuma saying "Ascend the heavens, become the demon" etc. which is likely in reference to himself. It's basically the user overpowering someone with their killing intent it seems

I love the stage. There's a lot of tones in buddhist and zen buddhism where Asura have either broken faces or heads. That statue in the background who I assume Akuma destroyed, just looks so sick. He's an asura himself, a god of war and strife, jealousy, and killer-intent.

From watching this trailer, I think it’s safe to conclude that Akuma is just as awesome as we all expected him to be. My favorite part: seeing what Akuma actually does to his opponent during the Raging Demon. I love the idea that it’s him creating a bunch of shadow clones of himself that all strike his opponent in rapid succession. It’s way cooler than what SFV showed.
yeah i liked when sfv showed it a lot and how they showed it but this is definitely cooler. if they mixed the two to me that would be perfect
I think the best mix of that would be showing the shadow clones and the first few seconds, then as the clones close the distance, that’s when the screen turns black and you see the hit sparks
