It’s time to find out which small electric SUV is better - the Kia EV6, or the Toyota bZ4X?!
Well in this review, Mat’s going to put these two EVs through their paces, testing everything from their exterior & interior design through to their real-world range and just what they’re like to drive!
When it comes to performance, the Kia is easily the more powerful car. The bZ4X’s single and dual motor editions can produce 204hp and 217hp respectively. In comparison, the single motor EV6 puts down 218hp, while the dual motor produces 325hp!
The Kia also has a slightly bigger battery pack, 73kWh compared to the Toyota’s 71kWh. As a result, the Kia also has a slightly larger claimed range - 325 miles compared to the Toyota's 317 miles. It's also worth noting the larger range comes with the single motor editions on both cars!
So, which would you choose? Would you go for the more powerful EV6? Would you choose the slightly cheaper bZ4X? There’s only one way to find out - stick with Mat for this all-new EV group test!

  • Honestly, there is no comparison between the EV6 and the Toyota. The former is leagues ahead in virtually every respect- performance, range, styling, handling, interior quality, infotainment system, tech features, charging speed, desirability etc. Also there is a major reliability issue with the BZ4X as every unit that has been sold is being recalled due to the dangers of its wheels falling off. This is simply ludicrous incompetence from the Japanese. Toyota and the other Japanese automakers seem to be totally out of their depth in the EV race while the Koreans are going from strength to strength.

  • EV6, hands down. I actually like that they put the stereo and climate controls on the same panel. One option I wish they gave was to have one of them be persistent, so you can choose climate controls change the temp, whatever, then if you don't use them for lets say 60 seconds, it will default back to stereo controls without you having to switch it. Then you can choose which one will stay so you can choose climate to default back to and the ability to change how long till it switches back to your default of choice.

    @Jezee213@Jezee213 Жыл бұрын
    • You can do exactly that. I think if you hold down the button that switches functions, it will default to that function. So if you default to HVAC, when you switch to audio, it will automatically switch back after a few seconds without any inputs. Though I don't know if you can select how much time before it switches back to default.

Even the Acura and Lexus products aren't competing with Kia Stingers. They don't even need to call big brother Genesis for help. Only thing that Korea lacks right now is a supercar for the wow factor. Acura is about to discontinue the NSX again and Toyota hasn't made a supercar since the LFA but at least they have that under their belts to remember and appreciate. I do wonder if there will ever be a Korean Ferrari competitor.

Agreed, the seat fits ok, but getting your kid in the seat was awkward due to lack of room which was made worse as the seats had to be moved forward for the kids to have leg room. • I must admit I'm a little bit confused (wasn't that a line from a Pink Floyd song?). I noticed on the Kia that there's a 12v Battery in the front boot. I get that it's there to power the auxiliary components that are not connected to the main battery, but I still don't understand the reasoning behind this or how the mechanics of it work exactly. Several EV reviews note that the 12v system powers heating/AC, radio/entertainment/navigation, power seats, mirrors, door locks, etc. , but at the same time they state that using the heating/AC, et. al. reduces the range that the vehicle can go. Is it the case that so much of the power gets pulled out of the main battery to keep the 12v system at an optimal level that it affects the range? Could you do a video dedicated to explaining this? Thanks.
