Italy and Argentina are the only two nations that have played against each other in 5 consecutive World Cups: 1974: 1-1, 1978: 1-0 for Italy, 1982: 2-1 for Italy, 1986: 1-1, and 1990: 1-1, with Argentina winning in penalty shout out. This record will never be broken! Another fact/record: Their complete kits never changed during these games. There was only one minor difference in 1978: Both teams had to play with long sleeve shirts. One more fact: Italy goalkeepers in all these 5 games wore the same kit: Gray shirt, black short, and dark blue socks!! Indeed All Italy keepers from 1970 World Cup (and probably Euro 1968, or World Cup 1966) through World Cup 1990 wore the same outfit.

The greatest fighter in football history. A player who could play against everything and everybody. I was in India for a yoga workshop. The Guru in his lecture mentioned Maradona as a player who had a fantastic connection with a ball. But in the end he said that like any genius Maradona knew everything what to do with the ball, but didn't know what to do with his life. Thats' the price all genius pay for their magical talents and joy they give to people.

Strongly disagree.....WC 1998 was a spectacular tournament that came 12 years after 1986. All the traditional powerhouse teams in France 98 were strong. Brazil and Italy and even France in 1986 had many key players that weren't as good as 4 years earlier. West Germany was unconvincing, except for beating a tired France to get to the Finals imho

Rossi in 1986 was finished. 2 goals in all the season with Milan. And retired in 1987 at 30 years old. So he didn't play one minute in Mexico.

I was in high school during '86 w/cup. After each match, we would talk about it for weeks, analysing every aspect of the game. We could hardly concentrate on school work, much to the annoyance of teaching staff. And Diego Armando Maradona was on every lip. Fond memories.

I was 7 yo when i first saw Maradona playing soccer in 1986' world cup. I remembered every detail of that cup. My 1st deception in World cup with Brazil against France, Zico x Platini but, fortunately i was completely hypnotized by Maradona and the way that he controlled the ball and defeated the opponents and made goals. The most genius and passionate soccer player that i had ever seen in my hole life! After that cup i used to walk and run playing soccer like him and i lot of friends just did the same as well. Thank you Maradona!! I will never forget your talent and your passion!When i see Messi, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo, they could play together against Maradona and none of then would defeat him in passion, talent and sagacity. RIP

Not exactly. In 1994 Roberto Baggio leaded Italy, alone, to the final against Brazil. It is true that he did not win, but he, alone, leaded the italian team. In 2006,Zidane made the same. So, your conclusion is not entirely truly

En el gol de Maradona en la tercer repeticion de tv ( es la camara que esta del lado de Diego ) se ve bien que Maradona le pega con un efecto especial..como en el billar ..pica y cambia su trayectoria entrando al arco..el arquero la mira pensando que seguia la trayectoria y se iba fuera ...Eso solo lo hace un genio como Diego pegarle con ese efecto El usaba mucho ese recurso..

Galli c'haveva i'vvizio ( e la presunzione) di calcolare la traettoria dei tiri, diversi gol presi dalla Fiorentina negli anni in viola hanno quel "marchio", portiere estremamente elegante, rappresentativo ma, 'un si volea sporcare😄e allora.... Giovannino, buttati quarche vorta! Una nazionale in pieno ricambio generazionale, con la "pancia piena" (campioni in carica) e noi il meglio lo diamo sempre quando siamo sfavoriti e nei casini piu' grandi, inconsistenti e molli in questa edizione. Quattro anni piu' tardi s'e' riacceso il motore, anche se un po' di sfortuna (stile "78) ci ha negato il 4° titolo in casa, cosi' come nel" 94 negli states.

Maradona acaricia tangencialmente el balón con la pierna izquierda en el aire maximizando así el mismo efecto con el que le pico en el suelo ( el balón viene girando en sentido de las manecillas del reloj), Eso hizo que el balón se alejara del arquero, cuando el balón vuelve a picar en el césped este encuentra una fuerza de oposición a su efecto de giro y la direccióna (la pelota) dentro de la portería. Esta explicación la doy como futbolista aficionado e ingeniero mecánico que soy. Saludos.

The Guru in his lecture mentioned Maradona as a player who had a fantastic connection with a ball. Strongly disagree.....WC 1998 was a spectacular tournament that came 12 years after 1986. All the traditional powerhouse teams in France 98 were strong. Brazil and Italy and even France in 1986 had many key players that weren't as good as 4 years earlier. West Germany was unconvincing, except for beating a tired France to get to the Finals imho

I was 7 yo when i first saw Maradona playing soccer in 1986' world cup. I remembered every detail of that cup. My 1st deception in World cup with Brazil against France, Zico x Platini but, fortunately i was completely hypnotized by Maradona and the way that he controlled the ball and defeated the opponents and made goals. The most genius and passionate soccer player that i had ever seen in my hole life! After that cup i used to walk and run playing soccer like him and i lot of friends just did the same as well. Thank you Maradona!! I will never forget your talent and your passion!When i see Messi, Neymar or Cristiano Ronaldo, they could play together against Maradona and none of then would defeat him in passion, talent and sagacity.
