About Danheim:
Renowned for Nordic Folk / Viking inspired music, Danheim focuses his music on ideas and stories based on the darker side of the Viking period, inspired or consisting of Nordic Mythology, old Danish folklore, and a vivid imagination. There is only one man behind Danheim, Copenhagen-based Danish producer Mike Olsen. With eight years of experience in electronic and ambient music, Olsen feels a deep connection to his Danish roots and heritage, and hopes to bring the Viking era and early Nordic history to life through his music
Danheim's music has inspired fans not just in Denmark but the world over, with more than 120,000 subscribers on KZhead and over 35 million online streams/listens since the beginning of 2017.

  • Every single time I am in the gym and I need to do a heavy row, I imagine my ancestor rowing his boat across the great ocean. When I need to do another deadlift, I imagine my ancestor pulling his boat ashore. When I need to do another extension, I imagine my ancestor bringing his axe down on his opponent. When I need to do another benchpress, I imagine my ancestor pushing a fallen tree off his body. My strength always doubles. The ancestors saw times tougher than we can imagine, starvation and frost forced them on raids across treacherous seas. They built worthy ships, found ways of navigation, and they brought weapons crafted with the most advanced techniques. They went on to conquer the entire world, and now we inherit it. My respect for them knows no bounds. Don't forget your bloodline, don't forget the men who faced a terrible fate and overcame it just to give you life. The men who gave you the world. You are their son.

But in one or the other way we are all Vikings and it's never to late to live our life the way we want. We have to connect that's everything. We are many. So skål and Hail Odin ❤️

  • Here is the meaning behind the song title “Vígríðr” which I proposed. This is the name for the field on which the Final Battle of Ragnarök will take place. Vígríðr means “battle-surge” or “the place on which battle surges”. It is the place where many Gods will meet their end, and Surtr will spread fire across the whole earth. The battle upon Vígríðr is the very one that the Einherjar eternally prepare for. This music brings with it purpose and meaning beyond the mundane. It seems like Danheim is all I listen to these days. Skål!

  • Theres something about this type of music, ancient sounding and culture-filled, that makes me fall in love with it. The same goes for folk and appalachian music. Its full of culture, and feels more powerful than anything that could come out today on modern charts. A lot of people like perfect, sleek, mechanical stuff, but i like a little wood, a little dirt, a bit of rust and patchiness, used and worn stuff. This music perfectly accomplishes that feel, and i have this feeling that ill be listening to it for quite some time.

    • I could not agree more, this music has soul and spirit, unlike the modern stuff which is just massproduced, Danheim manages to infuse it with an entire era of heart and soul.

  • 39:58 The mental image Fella gives me is that of a forgotten Dwarven tomb crackling to life with malevolent intent. The beating of war-drums and fire born anew into the lungs of millenia-old machines, the rattling of rune-carved bones prying themselves free from the catacomb walls and treading the soot-coated halls once more, the sinister voices of the lich-dwarves chanting oaths of vengeance for the surface-dwellers that cast them into the darkness. Their hollow eyes turn upward, toward the faint light trickling down from above, toward the world they would soon drag down into the shadows and devour.
