Better driver than Stroll.
just wanted to write that xd
It is not that hard.... :P
Kvyat has one up on Max now, he’s racing in real SimRacing! Max could only dream of such an opportunity 🤣
At least it learns from its mistakes...
id rather see stroll drive than ai
Will be allowed on the F1 grid before Andretti...
🤣🤣
Imagine these just like the NPC's in the F1 game! But IRL😂
Hahahah good one
Tommy being Savage with poor Matt...'and then doesn't win' 😂😂
"Shut up" lol
Lol that was so good, Matt was like shut up!
"You could have a Max Verstappen-esque Driver, something Tommy would love" "And you could have a Charles LeClerk type of driver, who is a bit more aggressive in qualifying" ""And then doesn't win"" "Shut up" I love the banter between these two ;)
Leclerc*
I didn't know these guys really did have lower torsos and legs this whole time
Who says they aren't AI generated though 🤔
Pasty Pommys!!
CGI LEG
"plan F" lmao
Williams: Driver but no car A2RL: Car but no driver
Underrated comment 😂
Therapist: AI Max Verstappen isn’t real. He can’t hurt you AI Max Verstappen:
No it's fine he still can't he parked it in the wall on the way to extinctify humanity.
"Box Box" "plan F" 😂
So this is where Newey is going. No pesky humans to limit his cars abilities ....
"Finally, I can race the X2010 for real"
Imagine at the end of the race: Car bot: “You came in like a Trojan!” Kvyat: "That it was just Human hard racing."
We got self driving Formula One cars before GTA 6
We've got a lot of things before GTA 6
Lawrence could save a lot of money and get similar results by hiring one of these machine learning algorithms in place of Lance.
With the difference that the AI might get better over time.
let's call it Formula NOne 🏁
formula noone :D
Now that we don't have a human driver, i wish we see faster cars (more than 300 kph) and different track configuration that can check the limits of the aerodynamics and engineering of the cars. Thats promising!
give it a decade or two
that would be fun to watch, but the series would need a series audience to make enough money to warrant team v. team car development
this would be great. push all the computer & car tech to the limit.
The driver isn't always the limitation on speed and tracks. If you want fans to attend, then the limit is also what the track infrastructure can cope with to keep the audience safe from hundreds of kilos of carbon and metal travelling at these speeds. In terms of that limit, there isn't really any extra you can get, besides removing the physical weight of the driver vs the extra computer modules and sensors; a circuit isn't going to be rebuilt just for an AI series.
Agreed. And we need both. Both the peeps that are willing to put themselves on the line, and those killing it online (remotely).
Woah a halo-less super formula looks incredibly cool
As a coder and F1 fan, I watched the 'race' and can only say it was embarrassingly bad. Most of the race ended up being at 50mph or under (rather a lot at 0mph when cars refused to overtake stuck cars under yellow). There was an overtake after the restart when the 2nd of the remaining 2 cars dived down the inside of the leader, but that was mostly because the leading car appeared to see the overtaking car as an obstacle and just slammed on the brakes and obstinately refused to move after that. With the probability that the new leader would stop behind it and refused to lap it again, they appeared to just end the race a lap early. Shambletastic :) It is very cool tech and hopefully one day might develop into something. But they need a lot more closed testing and development before it gets shown to the public again.
With out the limits of a human body imagine how fast one of these can be.
Who cares tho?
The human body is not even close to the limit in an F1 car. In a fighter jet, yes.
I have been waiting for this for 5 years and I don't know how much longer before a robot team is allowed in F1, It would be interesting to see how long it takes to reach the points, to the podium, to the victory, to the world title,
@@manostororosso2364Everyone who cares about engineering technology.
@@foryousten robot teams in f1 sounds like a soulless dystopian nightmare…
Suprised this is a thing before RC formula racing. I can see Max driving a Red Bull from home.
So just a super fast advertising machine...every ceo dream
Can remember the firsts attempts to do this. It was rather funny! Seeing those cars made 90 degrees turns..... Straight into the side barriers..
Barry R still hasn't recovered!
it was still like this in the race of these cars :)
The return of No-Name!
Firstname Lastname
Aston should hired this as Fernando alonso's teammate
This is actually so cool. As someone who loves to nerd out on the technology aspect of F1, this is epic
Thats funny
I watched the race of this :D It was really bad... cars just went into the wall and crashed for no reason.. other car just stopped at the track and cars behind did not overtake... and so on. and it was very slow.. not like in the video here.
Just subscribed to the A2RL KZhead page, and you guys are doing this. Brilliant. I'm so happy for you both and the job you both do is wonderful ❤😊
Gran Turismo B-Spec mode coming to life
Hey Guys, have you heard of the 'Miniatur Wunderland' in Hamburg, Germany? Yesterday, Albert II of Monaco opened the new section 'Monaco' in a miniature railway in the scale of 1:87. The new highlight is the Formula 1 track with small race cars. And the best: Every race is different! Thanks to a self-programmed software.
Tried to watch it today... Super cool the VR video here on KZhead and what you have showed too! 😮 Shame that ot looked only like they were in practice 😅 these things are still super slow 🥺 7:50 oh well I didn't know! Well then I'm happy for him 😄 P.S. oh and as an Italian I'm super happy to see the Politechnico of Milan having an autonomous car in this series 🤯
Saudi Arabia would rather have a no driver series than a female driver series 💀
Ahh Abu Dhabi... a city in Saudi Arabia yep yep
Different country
How did this get 53 likes? Do people really have no idea where Abu Dhabi is?
@@RhyetCast Because the rest of the middle east is so tolerant and progressive
Stop😭
Love that you guys are stepping it up with the production. Nice!
This video has the best banter between ya'll that I've seen yet. Thanks for the chuckles! Tommy is so charming for a wonk. Also learned today that he has a Mech E degree. Not at all surprised.
That's actually so cool. I had no idea this was a thing. Thanks guys! Nice production video as well.
That was pretty cool! More traveling/on location shoots, please! (The videos where you got to drive a Formula E car, and the karting competition w/Damon Hill were particularly kick-ass, and I'd love to see more of that from you guys.)
Bet you the robocar wouldn't have yeeted DannyRic two feet in the air by smacking him up the arse! #EnoughIsEnoughLance By the way, you lads are racking up the Avios nicely, it seems... 😉
I'm doing my BSc Computer science, where I have worked on Formula Student and now a project with another autonomous driving car. I discussed this idea literally last Friday about a formula style competition with autonomous cars. Very exciting!
Did anyone watch the race yesterday? It was so shit. Good idea but more testing needed before being broadcast again.
I’ve never seen anyone better encapsulate 😎 than Tommy This was super interesting! Thanks both!!
Really enjoyed this video, would love to see more!
ngl i kinda saw this twist on the racing formula (pun unintended) comming from a mile away, and while i am a bit apprehensive about how good it will actually turn out, im still intregued to see how this develops
I wrote a paper on this for my freshman writing class in college :) good to finally see it
Now this is something in my wheelhouse! Thanks for showing us this!
Live VR from the cockpit during a race would be incredible
The quality of this video is phenomenal. Congratulations, Matt & Tommy. The quality shows.
I finally got to the end of your excellent video, keep up your great work. 💯😎🇯🇲
Honestly I was very skeptical of this, but seeing it as Robot Wars or Bamzooki but with racing seems really fun.
logan checking over his shoulder sweatin
😂😂😂😂
Stroll will still manage to crash it
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!!! so freaking cool
The intro with two motorsport nerds smiling ear-to-ear is pure gold. Dont worry, If I were there, it would be a trio of nerdi.
Matt, Tommy, you can tell this is going to be a great video by hearing your intro which is banging 💥 No driver, then you dropped the baseline, you should put it on a track, I would buy it in a heartbeat.💥🔥🇯🇲
I watch F1 and technology developing since late 90s. I dreamed about seeing F1 cars in the future capable of driving themselves but actually living theese days and seeing those slow first laps and that 'race' was like seeing my baby making the first steps. It was like starting a computer in 1990s to play Mario and dreaming of Virtual Reality gaming that we have nowadays. It`s simply breathtaking. I will start taking care more of my body just to be alive long enough to see the 10th, 20th iteration of technology. Amazing
I watched the 'race' on Saturday evening. Only 4 cars spent 2 laps under a virtual safety car 'warming' the tyres at 50 mph then spent another 2 laps under virtual safety car at 60 mph then one of the cars fell way behind with an A I glitch so they continued at 60 despite the race already being green flagged. Eventually they gave the ok and off they went, lumbering around at different speeds to each other until about halfway around the first lap, the leading car locked up under braking and stalled. The following car somehow managed to go past but then slowed to a crawl as the yellow flags were shown. The remaining cars came across the first car and simply stopped not going past the stalled car despite the techs in the pits managing to get it to the side of the track but pointing nose first into the barrier. The race was red flagged and the cars were recovered to the pits were they were rebooted. I had got fed up by then so took the dog for a walk. Upon returning, the 'race' was just finishing with the car that qualified 3rd winning after the 2 Italian developed cars did an impression of Matt's beloved 'Dancing Donkeys' and failed to finish! I've had more fun playing Scalextric on my own!
This is so cool, think about how much the car could change without needed to leave room for a driver
the fun thing is, you can get rid of all safety features and just make it as fast as possible
What’s cool about this is that we have spec series to see who has the most driver skill, but with AI we can finally have equal drivers to see who has the best engineers
Okay I love racing so much and I want to be a opened minded as possible. Can someone explain why this exists
To develop self driving technologies for road cars. Also would be fun to see cars racing at extreme insane speeds that would be too dangerous for humans
If they learn from accidents they became fing geniuses with this race!
When I started to drive in VR 6 years ago I thought about using VR to drive Drone around the tracks. Imagine the G loads a vehicle could achieve without a human onboard. E-sports drivers could race the drone vehicles.
I want to watch this series now, it’s kinda like robot wars
Can I just ask am I missing a place where these guys do more content? I want to see their reactions to f1 news mainly about Adrian Newey but they’ve not posted anything?
You should check out the Indy Autonomous Challenge. They have been doing autonomous racing for probably 5 years now, which is where a handful of these teams (the good ones lmao like Polimove, TUM, and Unimore) came from.
This an opportunity to introduce vertically looped tracks etc.
Matt has a little Murray Walker to his commentary
Watched it live yesterday , it was so boring & cars were confused all the time 😂😂
2:49 Ahhh that one already got the Kwjat torpedo update !
Mazepin mod
This is actually so insane! Wow!
No info on the format of the race weekend? 😕
2:26 😂😂
2:43 how many Tommy's are there 😮
2:45 For a second I though I was seeing TWO Tommys! On the left of Matt
I watched the live "race" between the 4 cars. While an interesting exercise.... it's not exciting at all. A couple of them didn't work at all and the others just went around at 10mph with brief moments of higher speed. It's obviously early days and might get interesting eventually, but it's a long way off.
so crazy! I hope they tested the actual racing before going live
As a science demo, this certainly looks very interesting. I am not sure really so much as a sport. I am fascinated by the technology and the fun presentation, but I can't find myself rooting for who programmed their computer better. Still, fun to see, nice vid :)
We got real life NPC driver before GTA6💀
So how do they look when they race? Would’ve liked to see some racing footage
The VR and mobile aspects are something F1 absolutely need to do.
If there are not going to be drivers and driver safety is not an issue let's just make speed racer like races happen ..... Like cars being able to jump, have weapons , have ramps , etc,etc
We need you to talk about the Hulk transfer lately Matt and Tommy!
This is super cool. Usually quite hesitant with AI related stuff, but just imaging all the data that these cars can record is super super cool! Just think if the F1 games or platforms like iRacing or ACC can find a way to use this data, soon we could have even more realistic sims with an unprecedented level of detail, plus also as a way to try out and develop new technologies than can move up into F2/F1. Very cool! :D
ML AI driving the car? Sounds like my game :)
Tommy looks like hes about to drop some crazy bars on his sound cloud
Fascinating!
When is the Hulkenberg video coming out?
Off-topic: It would be nice to have minor F1 championship but with Reserve drivers and rookie drivers. It has its own points independent of the main F1. This minor league will slot in between weeks long off-time of main F1. Or even keeping main F1 to only 22 races. The minor championship will fill-in. Maybe use the previous year car.
We need a full gp weekend soon😊
I'd love to see an autonumous Formula in which engineers could go all out. Super light weight cars, grounbeffect with fans, active aero, engines that are nuts, you name it.. let them all go out on it with minimal regulations and create cars that have insane acceleration, straightline- and corneringspeeds with g-forcces a human coudn't handle. A pure engineeringcompetition. Dang i would watch that!!
This is going to advance automotive industry more than a decade of F1. I am looking forward to the technology upgrades.
This series should just encapsulate all the engineering innovations aspect from F1 so that the money spenders can go nuts with their toys. Then make F1 with cars having equal engines and have the drivers duke it out properly.
Crazy that they’re using GPS. They should be using a ground based location system. There’s a company in Australia that can track a fighter jet from 100km away and give x,y,z coordinates down to 13cm (on an object travelling 100’s of km/hr).
A Gamer's paradise sport
i bet they pre coded before car was built . You enter program last in ecm pcm and ai when its on the car
You’ve basically made, life size scalxtric.
this against kvyat will be a massive fireball 😂😂
The pitstops should be done by those robots that fall over when they try to turn a spigot or open a door. "Fail-robots". They still might be faster than Sauber
I guess if you can get a group of f2/sf cars to race wheel to wheel without crashing, you can almost guarantee that an autonomous taxi taking old Doris to the shops wont.
"be sure to lock your laptops before leaving it, because that's where the real danger is" lmao every HR department
yes seeing your self in the goggles is strange its even more strange when flying a racing drone and when the controlles start to came naturel and you fly away came back and you will be like he i see a person and then oh its me when you controlle it it feels like you are in the drone
I find robot racing and the technology behind it fascinating, as well as the option of having insanely fast cars in the future that go way beyond the human limits. With that said I am really not a fan of all these gimmicks around it and especially not the VR stuff. I like VR in general, but you will need an insanely good internet connect for this to work and even in the short clips here it did not look good, and they were on site. Trying to squeeze some half assed VR thing in is just unnecessary and also does not help to get the general audience on board (VR is still very niche).
They taking over this aswell
My immediate reaction is can this make the ultimate Esports competition?
