However, I cite the Olympic basketball final in 2012 versus Spain, which featured the Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka who were key NBA caliber players in a very formidable Spanish team who were competitive right up to the last minute of play before our boys prevailed for gold, 107 to 100. While I am confident our big guns will outlast the rest of the world, my point is simply that our aura of invincibility (e.g. 1992 squad) is not what it once was, and 2004 could reoccur if they aren't careful and fully committed.

Pretty solid but a big core of this team is older and injury prone. Teams like France and Canada along with others are going to be very tough. All the games are going to be close.
Agreed…Canada has really annoying defensive players that can stick with anyone and top scorers in Murray and Shai. Anything can happen in a one game knockout.

nah, they will be fine. in the last 4 successive golds from team usa, they had the same amount of time to prepare. what would be worrying are those players that are still the the playoffs with recurring injuries. at least the likes of curry, lebron, davis, kd, booker have a longer time to rest and recuperate in time for team usa training

However, I cite the Olympic basketball final in 2012 versus Spain, which featured the Gasol brothers and Serge Ibaka who were key NBA caliber players in a very formidable Spanish team who were competitive right up to the last minute of play before our boys prevailed for gold, 107 to 100. While I am confident our big guns will outlast the rest of the world, my point is simply that our aura of invincibility (e.g. 1992 squad) is not what it once was, and 2004 could reoccur if they aren't careful and fully committed.
