British government changes advice on wearing masks in English schools- BBC News
The British government has revised its advice on face coverings for schools in England, which are beginning to reopen this week. In areas where the transmission of coronavirus is high, masks will be compulsory for secondary pupils and staff, where social distancing isn't possible.
Elsewhere headteachers will have the discretion to set their own policy. Ministers had ruled out mandatory face coverings, saying the scientific advice showed schools are safe, but the Education Secretary Gavin Williamson now says the new guidelines are based on the latest World Health Organisation guidelines. Primary schools are not affected. Scotland and Northern Ireland have already said secondary school pupils should wear masks in communal areas, and the Welsh government is reviewing its guidance. I am British here in Malaysia, the irony is , students all went back to school 17th June , my wife is a secondary school teacher and has been one for 24 years in Malaysia. She’s Malaysian Chinese’ . You have to wear masks in public areas here, such as going into restaurants and then take them off to eat of course, have to wear them in shopping malls . But every one I see that’s going to the school she’s working I’m starts off to school with them and then they don’t wear them in school. There so much stupid hype about all of this . Trust me when I say this , left wing organisations , are trying to drag down uk . We say no to them and people thrown them all in on one island.

Agreed. A big part of my degree was analysing and examining all the techniques and methods that the MSM use to indoctrinate and generate compliance in society. Since lock down there was no mandated wearing of masks medically rated or not, especially in the one place that almost everyone has congregated... Supermarkets. Now to my knowledge there has not been one outbreak or spike of deaths related to supermarkets. Furthermore, it was claimed by the government and other health organisations that masks were inaffective at preventing the spread. All this during the height of the "pandemic" which coincidentally coincided with the push of elderly back into care homes (the place where the most vulnerable demographic would suffer the most). Fast forward a couple of months and the "R" rate has fallen drastically, hospitalizations have fallen, deaths at a crawl and low and behold masks of "any rating" become mandatory in the one place everyone has frequented since lock down. To which, people (the majority) have have accepted without question. So to finally get back to your question if we tolerated the wearing of mandated masks, your children will be next.

I think kids being back at school with their friends should be enough until we've properly eradicated the virus and then we can properly do away with masks.

I 100% agree there probably are health risks to being isolated too long but it clearly wouldn't be as bad as catching a virus which has the potential of killing you and others that you selfishly spread it to. Over 50,000 people died to this virus and you're worried about the health impacts of feeling isolated. Without isolating, that number would be a whole lot bigger. So yeah, being isolated is annoying but it's doing a whole lot of good saving lives so grow up and get over it. Hopefully, I’ve been hearing about quite a few polls with majority saying they wouldn’t take a mandatory vaccine in several areas of the world including UK. If people can be convinced to take a mandatory vaccine with no substantial clinical trials, no evidence of effectiveness and no guarantee about long term potential side effects from organisations who have indemnity in case anything goes wrong for a virus that has a 99% survival rate and has already been downgraded in severity by the government themselves as opposed to prior diseases that have been far more deadly yet required no lockdown then I am afraid they are beyond help.

My son has been homeschooled for 2years, its absolutely impossible to educate them solely on your own, our son spent 4hours a day on studies, attends piano once a week outside the home and has a tutor for 2hours twice a week to stay on top of it. Our way isn't the cheapest or hands off but our son was in private school and it was the most mirrored education we could provide at home.
Mia Moo when I first started homeschooling I used to follow a few groups on FB, they have a lot of advice on where to start, i.e. school deregistration letter etc. I'm not on FB anymore otherwise I'd send links. I've watched my children thrive the last few years from being educated at home, they enjoy it and so do I . Hope this helps 😊
Mia Moo be relaxed about it. Teach them to question everything and research information for themselves. Go with what they want to learn, and get them to fall in love with learning, these are all things school does not do. We homeschooled 4 years ago and now going back to doing it again.

Homeschool can be awesome if you can deal with it. Some parents complain they cant deal with it, imagine a teacher deal with +20 kids. The most important of homeschooling is teach them to think and analyze. Most of contents are merely a routine of school to keep them in line, you know, like memorise books and obey-comply. But the real education is what YOU can give, IF you are educated enough to deal your kid through it. You can filter contents, and you can add up as well, to reinforce the way your kid learns, with no other kids pulling his process down, nor missing stuff because he can't deal with them. The ONLY bad aspect of homeschooling is social, and that's very bad for their psyche developement, specially the ones with no sisters/brothers. But all the rest is just good news. Never overcharge your kid with tons of books, issues, homework, because that doesn't help at all. They need to learn how to think and solve problems using tools, not to memorise useless contents. The same with practical things like Piano. My kid goes to one of the best music schools here, and teachers recommend to dont push his practice more than 30-40 mins sessions. The idea it's to make them love what they do, not to OBEY and COMPLY. Homeschooling is THE opportunity to form better future generations by all of us, and not by a old fashioned system.

Doctors in Spain had fun cultivating what's found on masks (even new ones from packets) & found all sorts of microbes happily multiplying in the warm moisture near your mouth, E.Coli, Aspergillus, Fumigus...an absolute joke or should we cry? Billie L. I think Southeast Asia would disagree with you. They’ve been using masks for years, and there hasn’t been any increase in sickness from E. coli or anything else. Maybe there’s something fundamentally different about their masks, but wearing one is considered a common courtesy if you have a cough, so I think they would have noticed by now if people were becoming ill en masse because of masks.

Anyway with the small sample sizes we have now due to low case numbers (There are currently less than 800 people in hospital for it right now according to government statistics) - it's pure speculation. The virus just doesn't behave in a way that would effect under 30s severly - it effects those with weak immune systems in a more severe manner.

Staff are meant to wear coverings also. If they do not you are well within your rights to politely remind them. Coverings are not to stop you from getting sick, its to stop yourself from spreading your sick to other people. It only works if everyone uses a face covering or ideally an N95 or higher mask.
Exactly I bet most the staff at my son's school have been up the pub and doing fuck all while in lockdown aswell as other kids so it should be mandatory for anyone on the school site to wear one so people don't get infected and die. Very interesting today, I talked to someone who worked in a hospital in the north. They had cases of coronavirus way back in November. Staff were told they would lose their jobs if they talked about this new virus. Why then, should we trust the advice of the government when they clearly have such a bad track record in the past? If they knew back in November, imagine how many lives could have been saved if the PM acted quickly, instead of trying to hush this up?

I had coronavirus the beginning of February and I took 2 weeks off of work. At the time I knew it wasn't the flu as it was not the same as any flu I had in the past. Then when I learned about the covid virus...i knew then that was what I had in February.
