Photos from this camera looking really good. I'm so tired of overprocessed cartoonish HDR. Interested to see raw photos and flat manual video footage from this "1" sensor of Leitz 1 and Sharp R6

@@pixelking_871 It looks like a proper camera. Something like Sony RX100, Canon G7X or Panasonic LX15. Same sensor size and resolution.

I agree, I also like this Leica Leitz 1 images. is kinda happened when I move from Huawei Mate 9 to Samsung Note 9, which camera spec wise does better than huawei... but somehow I prefer Mate 9 images compared Samsung interm of colour reproduction, a little bit muted and yet it make easier to edit/alter compared samsung which had more processed look, and what happen now is I prefer post shot from my Fujifilm camera more rather than my Samsung Note 9... while in the past I often post images from my Huawei phone compared to my fujifilm camera.
This is the only channel that makes phones feel exciting. Covering phones that most you tubers don’t 👍

Reviewing devices while no youtuber have even gets hands on them . Wonderful That creamy Bokeh is really really good for videos and potrait shots.
I truly appreciate having your channel as one of the few with notifications turned on. it's a camera for consumer that really into real camera. not so many post processing and tends to have natural colour. if the user want dramatic images, they can just use Lightroom. You know, like a real photographer.
I would imagine a few years back, people like you would have still said “a real photographer use a real film” or shit like that.
@@finerbrighterlighter i use film sometimes but film is not better than digital and vice versa, it’s personal preference. I like the idea of the Leizt phone but it’s not a phone for everyone

I'd agree with the more natural affect of the Leica. As such, I would like to try out dual exposure on the Pixel 6 XL coming out in a few months. Makes it look very promising as getting that natural dark and light scene with some colours from the Pixel. I hope Leica makes a 2nd generation of this smartphone.

I wish they'd give it more of a midrange focal length. And more custom software for the price bump over the R6. Still, the image quality is great. Sure, colors are a bit off, but it really does seem more natural than most smartphone outputs.
You should understand how thin this phone is. There's already that bump and it's only capable of of 19mm and if they decide to increase the focal length, then it means the bump must become fatter. And by that point, you people would start complaining for the bump. You people should understand how physics work and how physics limits our technology advancements.
@@iamwisdomsky I wouldn't mind some extra thickness. Mine is already relatively thick, as it is. (not nearly as thick as my old Galaxy camera, which is just ridiculous for a "phone"! Not asking for telephoto, anyway, just something not so wide.

Thanks for this review. It's a bit old now, but I am considering buying a refurbished unit. Your review is really helpful. Every image clicked by this phone seems so natural! Leica Looks mood is just awesome! And if I need to process an image, the good thing is that it captures in RAW mood too. The videos seem dull, but given enough light, I believe this will deliver great results.

I really don't like most phones boost up the dynamic range simply just want to see more unrealistic details.
Yeah, but I also want good HDR when I need it and fast shutterspeed. I don't care that much about which colour profile is better, although I prefer a more natural look. I do stuff in post anyway. But if the software is bad and it missed a moment, then it's gone. That happens a lot on my Xperia 1 II. I hope leica keep investing in this series. And develop better phones, figure out how to satisfy more consumer. The can just add a "Natural colour" toggle. Most people like that contrasty, vivid look. So let it be the default. Then we enthusiast can just disable it. Earn more from the normies, for real development.

I heard the gcam app shoots quite good photos compared to other stock photo apps. Could you make a video where you make a camera comparison of the sharp Aquos/Leica Leitz and the Xiaomi or iphone or even the stock app?

Upgrading from my Nokia 8.3 & 9PV devices, and also that the Nokia X20 & 30 didn't impress me to my expectations, so just gotten a new Leica Leitz phone few days ago. But manuals mostly in Japanese however managed to switch the software language to English Singapore..now still in orientation mode. Look forward to using it on my drive videos to see the effect especially low light from the 1-inch sensor !
This phone, Xperias, and the Sharp you review before are my type, i prefer natural final result rather than over saturated over processed yellowish punchy color result.
I'm sure journalists working on sensitive stories would also appreciate that 2 finger authentication system. You would feel comfortable about leaving your phone in a public area.

First video I watched here. I like your style mate. I had no idea about this phone nor the Sharp. Thanks for the upload. Sony camera? That banding in the background has that signature 8 bit Sony feel. Tweak those autofocus settings and you will have less focus hunting which is super distracting in an otherwise great video.

Thanks, nice review! What type of RAW-file comes out of this camera? Same question for the sister Sharp version? Regarding 1-inch sensors in Smartphones, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-CM1 from the year 2014 was first with that to my knowledge.
Thanks for mentioning cm1, I feel like this is a rinse repeat formula and is not going to do well in the market. It'll just get swept under the rug like iterations before. Main reason is price, technology advancements just moves way too fast to pay such a tag. Iphones can get away with it because they are still top dog in the phone industry along side Samsung and a few others. Simply put they bring innovation, improved compositional photography (hdr) and better software experience. What is Leica known for? Mainly for quality cameras and lenses that can only go so far with a slapt on brand name. Overall, great looking phone but being a Leica brand I was hoping a bit more standout feature to be considered a enthusiast phone. Ex. Dedicated shutter & custom function button, sd slot, built in ND filter, snap focus, variable aperture, more film sims? To reiterate for the price it is also fighting against other 1" sensor proper camera like Sony rx100 line with versatile optical zoom. The review was on point for sure and will only be a very "niche" option. I'll just have to wait till 1" is common in smartphones and prices are reasonable to the trend.
@@streetzine I read somewhere that Sony has made a special version of the 1-inch sensor especially aimed for smartphones. Not sure if Leica/Sharp uses that one though. While I could get one of them and live with the lower software implementation vs having proper 1-inch sensored RAW-files, many others won't, so this will not sell in too many copies. Until the day Apple and/or Samsung etc picks up a 1-inch sensor in their smartphones and combine it with their software wizardry it will be a low volume thing. But if they figure out either a way to economically put two or three of these sensors in a smartphone to get different focal lengths or how to use a revolving lens array around one sensor, a 1-inch sensored Smartphone can really knock sales from both RX100 style compacts as well as crop system cameras and even FF ones due to having good enough image quality for many people in combination with software wizardry and the usual ease of use the smartphones gives.

1-inch sensors is where it’s at. Can’t wait for them to become more commonplace in smartphones.
You have to remember that 1" sensor is far from cheap in the first place.

Wow, I'm really impressed 😲! Almost impossible to tell the difference with a dedicated camera📸. The accuracy of the colors, the natural bokeh, and even the dynamic range which for some may seem less good than that of standard high-end smartphones, but is actually really perfect 😳. I haven't found the iPhone's video stabilization to be better. Seriously this kind of sensor on a Samsung, Pixel or iPhone 🤩. The design is completely Nokia. Really thank you for this presentation 🙏🏽.
Does your model import direct from Japan or Japan offer the phone exclusive Softbank but unlocked? I'm wondering how well e-Sim work since you live in Hong Kong.
This is probably the best starter phone for a person who wants to start a photography hobby or pick up photography.
I'll take Xperia 1 iii with photo pro and cinema pro, unless this cost 500 less

It's kinda cool go have that separation but it also can be quite extreme. Compared to the iphone which looks way sharper, and easier to get what you want specially in closeups. The edges are also quite smeared.
Oh man, i was very excited about this when I saw the video pop up but I must admit I'm not that excited anymore 😂 would love leica to have made the whole device and also multiple lenses...I had visions for a moment of something to finally replace the Huawei/leica partnership haha. Hopefully they keep going and start throwing punches with the big dogs!!
ok just guessing here, but I *think* that each lens it adds means a crop of the sensor. So the fact that it has only one large lens means it probably uses a lot of the 1" sensor it has, allowing a 20 MP image or close to it, which means you can crop in a lot and still be sharp. A lot of other phones are faking it adding lenses which each take a 12 mp crop of a large sensor, but isn't really cause it doesn't use much of it. So that is probably why this gives a better look without a lot of digital sharpening which ruins a lot of Samsung photos. Again, im just trying to figure all this stuff out as Im getting frustrated being deceived about the cameras in these things.

please accept the fact that Leica is a small firm, comparing to giants like Apple etc, they don't have so much allowance into R&D of software.
