To see this elderly gentleman and his wife being giddy about their old car running again, warmed my heart
MY MOM N DAD BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 66 CHEVELLE 4DR HARD TOP...230 6CYL 2 SPEED POWERGLIDE...THEY HAD DRIVEN IT OVER 300,000 MILES BEFORE OVERHAULING THAT ENGINE...THE POWERGLIDE LASTED 250,000...MAINTENANCE...
John loves that old car. It's for sure.
I agree Brother...mine to.
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!
They like kids again
Seeing them drive it and the smiles on their faces - especially when she sat right next to him 😢 priceless
6500 great deal wow
I like that car as it is lol better that a 10000 dollar painted job really
The best part 👍👍
I think the best part was at the end when she said we still got it
@@margarethatcher1731 YES they do, they both went back in time several decades. simply fantastic.
The most touching part of this video was when the wife scooted over next him like it was yesterday for them. Like it was a reflex even though these were bucket seats. And even moreso when she did it again at the very end of the video. Very sweet and loving.
For me too. I had tears in my eyes for a long time.
That was the best!
In 51 years of driving, repairing, watching and otherwise just being around cars, _"this is by far the most enjoyable"_ car event that I've ever seen! John's reaction to it all actually brought out a few tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat! Thank you everyone for recording and posting this, it was well worth it!
Glad i'm not the only one....
Well said, friend. Well said.
@@jeffrector8831 Ahh well thank you so much for saying so, I'm a retired auto, equipment and fabrication engineer so I would've guessed I'd be more cynical but something about this story just touched me, maybe just the honest simple pleasure John and his wife shared but I was pretty moved by the new owner's spontaneous commitment to let them have the car a long as the wanted, that's what choked me up, wow!
That snuggle at the end! Keep those moments close to heart. Never know what you have til it's gone!
Like being reunited with a very dear friend ......the car and it's original owners ......back in time.... lots of great memories flooding back...... Wow the feeling that evokes is beautiful .....👍😁
As uncomfortable as it was to sit between the seats all those years you could tell it was a precious memory for her as she scooted right on over there.😊
She felt young again, love the spirit!
L
She done some things sitting between those seats. It definitely made her feel young again haha
@@NotOnDrugs dude I was thinking the same. I bet that back seat saw some action back in the day. Prehistoric DNA back there.🤣😂
@@cknorris3644 you know it. He was giving her the biz back there. Not to mention how many times she gave him head between those seats 🤣🤣
The absolute best video I've seen. My favorite part was how she complained about the bucket seats, but as soon as they were driving, she slid right in between, just like old times. I think that car and those memories meant more to her than she'll ever admit
I once had a 442 with bucket seats and no console. I found out a rolled up sleeping bag would fit just right! The best accessory I ever bought !
I think you're right.
She loves it
I’m not a car guy by any stretch of the imagination; however, this story transcends physical ownership and speaks directly of the inner moments and spaces that we all subscribe to in one way or another. It’s said that there is more that unites us than divides us, and I would argue that John & Marilyn’s story, Buddy & Toni’s gesture, and the cast of people that brought this rare account to life are proof that this is so. Thanks to the entire cast for sharing, and it is without question that we’re all better off having spent half an hour in your (recorded) company.
I bear witness to that having the pleasure to record this with this cast of people.
Yes, absolutely a great, great story!
Mr Gerald Scott, No one could or have said it better, Absolutely the most fun and loving old young kids! And yes Marilyn you guy's still got it and sitting between buckets seats prove it,,, lol
@@thewriter2549 There's nuthin worse than BARE witnesses, unless it"s Elly Mae Clampett of course! 😉
Ate You a PR Man ?? LoL
That smile when he drove it again was priceless.
Wow...this video blew me away. The best part was how everyone came together (new owner, restorer, friends {guy on the other end of the carb phone call}, people at the show, and of course, John and his lovely scene-stealer wife) to make it possible. Thank you, Jerry...loved it ❤️
The Chevrolet family runs deep. Down in the Carolinas.
Runs like it was parked a week ago. No sticky lifters or smoke. That's a big block chevrolet for ya. Impressive
I wish I was around in the 1960s and older... when America was great !
Damn right, we are in a bad period of time right now and it is only getting worse.
Literally cried when she scooted over into the spot she hated, but happily this time. Seeing an older couple so happy and so in love is beautiful.
Beautiful! I may have been to a friend's funeral today and a bit drunk now... but seeing this couple so happy brought me to more tears. Thankfully tears of joy and smiles.
Brings tears to my eyes. I just lost a buddy to leukemia this year. He bought one new, gave it to his dad when he bought a 69 Nova SS 396 4speed, when his dad passed his mom gave it back to him. It was garage kept here in the PNW so it was no rust ball but it had well over 100k so it was no garage/trailer queen. I miss talking to him and sharing these types of videos with him. RIP Mike😥
Sorry for your loss Greg. Keep talking to others. You will see your buddy again one day.
Greg sorry to hear about your loss. He is in a better place and he is not in pain. Having to lose a friend is hard but thanks for sharing your story. That car must have been really cool. God bless you and take care my friend. We all are not alone in this world. Just keep on remembering him and you will see him again. Believe me when I say this the world is really gone to hell so he is much better off now. Take care.
Seriously one of the best videos I've ever seen on KZhead. To wit: An impressive combination of people came together to make this happen, John and Marylin had such a great time driving it and attending the car show, it was so popular in a way that only original patina cars are any more, super generous current owner saying that John can borrow it for however long he wants to, and that freeze-frame fade out at the end jut brought the whole thing together in a perfect way.
Bless their hearts! The real heroes of this are the people who went to great lengths to give this couple a treat that they'll never forget! A fantastic video and wonderful people who made it happen! Thank you!
Omg!! Not only am I in love with this Beautiful Rust Bough 🚗 but I’m mesmerized by this cute hubby and his adorable wife. And yes! They still got it!👏🏻🙌🏼😁😂🤣 Big shout out to these awesome guys who done this for them, you just gave them their groove back!!
A great thing you did. Letting the original owner drive the car you repaired. Loved the story behind it! Thanks for sharing!
God bless you all for doing such a sweet thing for John and Marilyn. You made them both feel 20 years ago again. And to see the love this couple has for each other after all these years…almost made me cry.
man enough to admit it was a waterfall here. True love.
It is always great to see couples who have stayed married a long time. (49 years and counting for my college sweetheart and me.) Thank you for this video -- "it's not [just] about the car."
The laughter and the smiles of these elderly couple for me just took away the aged look off their faces and brought out the youth in them. You can feel the joy. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video.
Not gonna lie, I got a little choked up seeing them all giddy in their car.. thanks for sharing!
She looked so giddy and couldn't wait to sit in the middle between the seats liked she used to when they were young. What a site to see how excited they both were. Thanks for the video. I'm am so stoked to see the reaction of the couple was just so epic.
Yes Sir, brother. Couldn't agree with you more, God bless.
Dropped a tear when she got a little closer every hot rod guy knows. That’s the best thing in the world having your sweet heart and your ride at the same time
@@beerealopenyoureyes8587 you are so right. God bless these 2 they warmed my heart with my eyes watering
she was a virgin and he got her cherry in that car, i was in the back seat banging my gf while they were screwing like jack rabbits in front seat
This isn't just a car story; this story also touches on a love story. May all hope to grow old and gray with our soul mates just as Mr. and Mrs. Graham have exemplified.
I love that you let the original owner drive the car again. What a great memory you gave those two. God bless you.
John and Marilyn's happy spirit is a like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for documenting this story, Jerry. Wonderful stuff. Goes to show the car hobby transcends all the crap in the world.
Sure the heck does
This is a wonderful feel-good story of a rusty 66 Chevelle and the cute couple that had it from new. Thank you for the Share.
OMG! This brought a little tears to my eyes! You could tell just by her giddiness that it brought her back to a happy time in both of their lives!! LOVE THE VIDEO!!
Seeing this lovely couple driving this bucket of stories after 35yrs melts my heart. Love it. Blessings to y’all.
Am I the only one who cant watch these car restore videos without getting choked up? Same with that Chevy commercial years ago....grown ass man and you show me an old guy that is reunited with "his car" from back in the glory days and I get a freakin lump in the back of my throat and some kinda liquid in the corners of my eyes..every damn time.
Me too, I think we miss the great decades gone by...I'm not liking this time period we are in right now.
Those smiles at the end were priceless. Thanks for sharing this with us
Old cars are like folk's favorite old music🧝♂️💃. You had to be there and experience it to appreciate it. Memories of our youth may fade but they never go away... 👩❤️💋👨👍🍻
Wow made my day. My wife and I have a 1970 nova we restored before my three kids drove it in high school they are grown now and I have waited for the day soon we will be driving it again a little love and we will be cruising again. Bench seat makes it a little easier to sit beside each other. Amazing story crazy how a car both carries us where we want to go and the great memories of our lives.
This was nice to let original have the moment with the car. The new owner is a class act
Absolutely, thanks for mentioning that.
I don’t think I’ve ever smiled as much from a KZhead video before as I have from this one. Great people, great car, great stories, only more to come. Love seein stuff like this. Keep it up man.
Probably one of the best couple and their original classic car story ever. Love how the new owner still lets them drive the Chevelle. I would do the same. They are driving down memory lane once again. Completely Priceless.
Lovely to see the two of them in their old car. Their laughter is wonderful. They are still in love with each other.
Perfect ending to the video! "We still got it, don't we?" Yes. Yes, you do! What a great story. Would have loved to see a photo of John and Marilyn from back when the car was new and they were young. My first car back in '72 was a '66 Tempest with a 326 and three on the tree. It had a bench seat so my girlfriend could sit right next to me. That car and girlfriend are long gone but how cool would it be to have it back (car, not girlfriend 😂) and get to drive it again. Oh, and please do not clear coat this car. Nothing looks worse than clear over patina. It ruins the whole look of the car.
I agree.
I loved to see the original owner and his wife take one last trip in it. Brought a tear to this old mans eye. Paint doesnt matter. Its the history and memorys behind the car that matter
i am 39 and i cannot agree more. to be able to relive the past must be/ is priceless for them. I love it
When she scooted over next to him I just about cried! That was awesome!😅
"I shined my Corvette for two days and no one looked at it. I hope my wife doesn't see this." I LOVED THIS STORY. My wife and I are about the same age as John and Marilyn, and still about in love as much as John and Marilyn are. Thank you. Now I'm off to find the tissues as there is something in my eyes.
Probably one of the coolest automobile related video I’ve ever seen. Thank you.
The Original owner and wife sat in the car and instantly became 60 yrs younger, it was beautiful..
I watch a lot of types of videos on You Tube. This has been one of the best. I am seventy years old and had a 65 Mustang, 289. It brought the memories of those days back and I remember seeing the Chevelles, Novas, Corvettes and Torinos. Great to see people with the attitude they have and their great disposition. Thankyou.
Nothing but a feel good story right here. To see the couple back in their old chevy and to sit at a car show and answer questions... Great job to all who made it possible. John was like a kid in a candy store. 🙂🙂🙂
That old Chevelle is like a retired champ getting out for another day in the sun. Glad this one will be saved.
I like your analogy.
@@thewriter2549 Always liked reading your material in car magazines. Keep up the good work.
Impossible not to smile watching this. What a great story.
THE SMILE AND laughter of seeing the car tells you everything ,
Man....John's giddy laugh and smile made my entire day!.. it absolutely gave me life!.. He and his wife Marilyn are now my favorite couple!... this story and gesture given to this beautiful couple is God sent💯
Nice. Both of them enjoying their loves of their life and their love. This is truly what America is all about. 😊
Man what a great show! Made me tear up!
Isn't it amazing how people fall in love with their first or favorite car that they own and never let go of that love? My first car was a '62 MGA MKll and my goal is to find a worthy same old and drive the heck out of it. By the way, my brother's first car was a brand new '66 Chevelle SS 396 SS with a 4-speed, 325 hp, red with a black interior, no vinyl top. Man, when he first got that car and took me out in it....Wow, that car chirped the tires in the first 3 gears! I was 13 years old and at that point in my life I knew what Heaven was like! Great video, Thanks! You did a great thing involving the prior owners. The expressions of pure joy on their faces were priceless!
This is hands down one of the coolest videos you've ever made! To see John and Marilyn acting giddy and having so much fun was a real treat! I hope they get to show it off at many more shows to come! I believe it's their fountain of youth!!!
Thanks Rod
Sweet SS ! Beautiful story of two people in love with their former Chevelle. Damn, I can relate. Dec 65, I purchased a demonstrator, new marina blue SS 396 Chevelle. 325hp, 4 speed, 3.73 posi rear. Great car for the 17 months I owned it. Traded it in on a red 67 Pontiac GTO ragtop. Wish I still had both these cars ! I often wondered what ever happened to both these cars !
Probably over restored and sitting under a cover in some rich guys garage. What a waste
He’s so happy! 😊
Very sweet couple. Very cool letting them drive it again. They will Remember that car show till the end of time.
This is by far the BEST Video of all the videos on KZhead & I watch a LOT of videos! doing this for John & his Wife was the best part about it all being able to see them reminisce over the car from years before! Thanks to everyone that had a part in making it all happen!
you need therapy
Great story. Loved it when "Mom" snuggled up for a ride.
Great job and hats off to all the people that were involved with this car!
Buddy is a standup guy! 👍He's the star of this show. God bless you man.
This story is more than just about a car, it's a love story. You could make a movie about this. Loved it. Thank you.
One of the best gifts to give to an old man is his first car or one of the same make/model/year - I love those videos where families locate and restore their father's or grandfather's first or favorite car.
What a wonderful story and a great survivor with a perfect 396 and 4 speed! Wow! Yeah!
This video made my day. How special of you to let this couple drive it after making it safe and practical for them. My God multiply the blessing you gave this couple and myself a hundred-fold.
It was so exciting to see these two wonderful blessed people enjoy their time in their finest. What a great moment of time.
What an excellent story. Live large, Mr. and Mrs. Graham! And props to those who made it happen, especially you, Buddy!
Jonathan deserves a lot of credit for getting this going, and Chip, too, for all the work he did. All these folks are fun-loving car people
I love how you intertwine the human aspect into your videos. Nice work.
I appreciate that!
Never expected to see something as amazing as this to happen ever!
Fantastic video. What a treat to see those two having the time of their life in that car again.
That is probably one of the best videos I've seen this year when the old couple got back into their car and she's slid over to the center you brought a tear in my eye that is a great video thank you so much keep doing it keep doing the good work thank you again
I'm a young man with a love of these old cars, and I honestly did not quit smiling the entire video. The follow up of my favorite Jerry Hensley video. Thank you so much
I love to see elderly people at car shows enjoying ourselves and most importantly they brought their Chevelle and it's getting all eye contact on it
Always melts your heart to see people relive the past see their joy when it comes to their old cars
That is the magic of these old cars it isnt about $ value some option number...ones that store them are missing out completely
Oh my Lord, I smiled all the way through this story. That was just gorgeous.
Amazing at how something simple as a car has this much reaction! Priceless for sure!
Them seeing their old car restored to driving condition and being able to drive and ride as they did back in its prime literally put new life in their step. Classic and priceless to see! I was 7 when he bought it, and I was riding in the rear window cubbyhole of my moms 61 Corvair..lol
Been into Hotrods for about 40yrs. Long story short y'all....this is the coolest story I've ever heard. It couldn't have happened without the coolest people that are involved. Original owner, stock original car,the perfect enthusiast/ buyer , knowledgeable people in the repair side I mean all of you folks that contributed. The car show people even. You do know this is a great storyline for a movie... everything and everybody involved... y'all are Just Badass....
The Cutest Couple in all Car Shows in history! This was awesome. Like 2 kids in a candy store.
This was all pretty cool. And he drove it so adeptly, just like it was his.
That's so cool that you let the previous owner drive it and you can tell that he knows his way around the car really really good and hasn't 4got anything about driving it. Cool video and I enjoyed watching...
Awesome. One could only dream to be in a long-lasting and loving relationship like theirs. Man. Woman. The car that they still have the opportunity to share. Awesome.
The car's not the only classic, the couple is also. Love the car, couple & the video, for making it all come together for them.
To me a car like this will always catch my eye over a show queen. Fully restored cars are almost forgettable from one car show to the next unless something really special, but its cars like these that always stick out in your mind, especially when paired with a great story like this one.
My favorite episode to date. Wonderful to see John n his bride transported back to a life memory of their youth. Great job !
The old guy got in that car, and never missed a beat! Great story guys. You made this couple’s day!
What a touching video. How kind to let the owners enjoy the ride again, it did bring a big smile.
That was so great to see them driving in it again. They look so happy.
What a beautiful feeling ! Watching this is motivating to get my '63 Grand Prix back on the road, I am so close !!!
I hope I can see your car when it is finished. Please don't get distracted and take your time. It will happen just take care and your car.
Can't tell me that didn't bring back memories for these two ! Best thing for the soul I've seen in years ! 👍🏻😁
Wow! What a transformation for both car and original owners! Wonderful story for them so glad to share their joy!
Yep they sure do they still got it and beautiful to see it’s pretty amazing how a cool car can bring so much happiness to so many people
This guy went back 50 years with a turn of the key!
I will forever remember Valentine's Day differently now! And thank you for letting us see how Valentine's Day was like for you both in 1966! ❤
Everyone should see this video, car lover or not. It's a love story from beginning to end. Thank you for sharing!
Reminds me of my high school sweetheart and myself in my 66 SS. I'm 75 now & she moved on but I've still got the car! I restored it for my daughter as of all the cars I've done it's the one she wants to keep. Mine, being in California, was in much better shape but of course I had to replace the trunk filler panel too, I saved all the parts I replaced including the original holley carb which acts exactly the same as this one even after only sitting a month. I swapped in a temporary quadrajet to make it easier for her - a little priming and it's ready to go every time - no fuss. I drove it daily until the 70's gas crunch then just for road trips. Great to see them having so much fun with it! Nice that you did that for them!
I would love to ride with you in one of your old restored classic cars. They are the best.
Watch gold diggers old youtube lol
Nice story and throwback for the original owners.
This was an absolutely beautiful story. Brought tears to my eyes.
That’s the sweetest thing to see ever in life. Real love being relived and memories brought back to life. You my friend have made there day and mine. Gave me motivation to not give up on my 67 chevelle build. Thank you for giving them a beautiful moment and giving me hope as well. Thank you
What a great story! Thanks to all involved, the smile on John and his wife's face says it all!!!
all the years and everything else was gone for a few minutes that look on both of there faces was priceless they were kids again 😆 love the video
Wiping tears. and smiling ........ Absolutely priceless story! Great story and video guys! Wonderful couple just made my year!
