A Magnificent Lion Pride Lies In Wait To Ambush Prey | The Lions Of Etosha | Real Wild
There are about 500 lions living in the Etosha Pan, this is the story of how they live together and an account of the family affairs of one pride in particular. The lions of the Ombika pride are a nineteen-strong family, we see how the pride lives, protected by two magnificent males, how it brings up its cubs and teaches them to hunt. The Ombika pride, named after one of Etosha's waterholes, is dominated by two immense males, each weighing 550 lb. One is gold maned, the other black. This is their story.

I love these old nature documentaries. No music, no "dramatic" effects, no fake stories, no bullshit. Just pure nature. The way it should be.
Its how they should make them now, with the amazing video quality.
*Gavin H* __ I fear this message is lost on many sensationalist U.S. docu makers.....with their gangster movie narration......
I actually sometimes see the same lion with 4 different story lines. They just recycle the footages God knows how many times.

All of a sudden I'm obsessed with lion documentary.

Constant Migraines lol, I thought the same.
“Yoo leave the fuck alone go to your mama” 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wao! 550 lbs. That's basically the max these days for Lion weight. These 2 males are nothing to want to mess with.
" cubs from the same litter can have different father's " well, I learnt something today.
dsd yes, humans can give birth to twins who has different dads
Where's Maury when you need him?
Yes, the females often mate with more than male in the pride. That means cubs are often siblings (same mom) and also cousins (different fathers). When the young males are driven out of the pride, they leave together and will spend the rest of their lives together. Females usually stay with the rest of females for the rest of their lives. Prides are made up of mothers, grandmothers, great grandmothers, sisters, aunts and cousins. 🦁
@@rachelschwebach7566 yes BUT they are saying the Cubs have different fathers IN THE SAME LITTER !!! How does that work,1 lion fertalizes 1 egg and a different egg is fertilized by another Male,so the female is made pregnant by 2 Male lions at the same time!!! That's just mad,I know the females will mate with both males BUT I'd never would have thought that both could impregnate her at the same time.
Yes they do that so both male lions treat the cubs as there own. Bc sometimes the dominate male will go on pratol for days so the less dominate male will mate with the in heat females.
Old docs will never disappoint, because they get to the point
Brilliant old wildlife documentary. No people with jeeps parked telling you what's going on all the way through, just nature how it should be love it
Hey there beautiful
Yup that's your people over stepping.
Go Elephants! You are so important.
talique whack lool
Just how its supposed to be couldn't agree more with you Grace
Two huge, confident boys and plenty of prey. Love it!
❤❤❤❤
WoW now here is a old one and GREAT one! I haven’t seen this in years! I wish they were all so “ON POINT”, this is how you make a wildlife documentary! Pure education from start to finish.
What I hate about”modern” lion documentaries is that the cameramen love to insert themselves into the documentary. I could care less about their experience or them talking in front of the camera . I just want to watch lions.
I've been watching lion docos since youtube came out and this is by far the best lion documentary there is out here.
agreed!
oöoo
I couldn't agree more, I've watched many lion
I enjoyed this documentary very much. I love Lions, and if we don’t stop big game hunters and poaching all that will be left for our grandchildren will be a picture of them in a book! Thank you so very much for sharing this beautiful video with me! I loved it, pure nature nothing else! 💜❤️
So very true!! I seen a husband and wife posing for a photo with the lion they killed. I just wanted to beat them to death with there own rifles!! Absolutely disgusting 😤
Poaching is the problem a smal amount is killed bij big game hunting witch money is uses to stop poaching
@@stefangoedegebuur9249 While poaching is an issue, the main problem is actually habitat loss, followed by human-lion conflict, and illegal wildlife trade.
Excellent. Kudos to the whole team that was involved with making this film.
When I was younger I used to visit my grandparents they lived village in Africa and one my grandpa and I was walking to feeding his live stock's and we sees 2 baby lion cubs and their mother. The lion mother was crying because she had injured badly we gave her water and from the looks of her injury it looked like It was a pride take over she ran with her babies she felt comfortable enough to push her baby in our hand were shocked we stayed with for 2hour after that she died my my grandparents raised those beautiful lion cubs I wish I could should the pictures and everytime when I visit the 2 cubs jump on me outta of excited I love them we are planning to send back once their are adults
Lions are highly intelligent and read people well. She knew you would take care of them.
These are the type of experiences future generations in Africa will miss if we dont protect our lions/African wildlife
@nabil chowdhury I agree with you
wow what a great story! My dream has always been to visit Africa maybe Kruger or Sabi Sands some day.
Layla Carter God Bless your Family Kindness....
Cool to see Mufasa and Scar getting along
excellent docu from start to finish. you covered the complete cycle from cubhood to adulthood. i especially enjoyed the young adult male, evicted from his pride, learning to hunt and surviving on his own.
A good reminder that we are all animals too.
I loved how Mrs. Lioness ran over to assist her man @07:39. What a gal!
Wow animal f******
They should all do this .
Really enjoyed this. 50mins went so quick. Shout out to the whole production team. The narration was fantastic, unbiased and realistic. They don't make em like this anymore
I freaking LOVE lion cubs...their little growls. And did anyone else hear him say "OW" when the mother disciplined him? Omg such cute little killing machines 😍
ooh that poor mum with the broken jaw looking at her cubs drinking water 💦 that broke my heart 💔
I hope they but her out of her misery. I couldn't leave her to suffer a lingering death, you know the hyenas will find her and eat her alive.

Im hetting obsessed now too with lions documentary especially the cubs they are one of the most adorable & very very cuute!
*We're technologically advanced, but to me, older documentaries are better quality!*
That's because the people behind the new documentaries like to involve themselves too much, instead of telling the animal's story they tell their own.
THE Doge exactly, camera hogs, um the documentary is about the lions not you.
That's because not just anyone could do one few years back.. BBC isn't like KZhead
Because technology and nature don’t mix. The less cameras and people, the better the documentary.
There's some great new documentaries, like 'White lions,' 'Swamp lions,' or 'Pride & punishment.' But with newbies, they don't want to tell the lions story, they want to tell A story. I watched a documentary about brothers, & they used different lions. 1 scene the lion had half a tail. Next scene, his tail reappeared. SMH!
Thank you soooooooo much for uploading this documentary. A really nice and beautiful documentary . Don't get to see these type of documentaries nowadays. Please upload more documentaries like this .

Lion cubs are extremely cute. How can people hunt lions? It's just unimaginable.

I love the little “oww” cry made by the cubs. They sound so annoyed but cute at the same time lol especially after they harass the big males. They have some balls right from the get go do lions!
The Lion King remake made me OBSESSED with lion documentaries

*Melts at baby lions frolicking around happily with siblings and momma* AWWWWWWWWW I love lion cubs

I miss these old documentaries. Proper, with no cheesy music and jump cuts/edits
Watching the lion cubs us therapeutic!
I love it when the mothers pick their babies up.
I love the way they sit around and yell at each other! And they can hear each other from 5 miles away
Mother playing with Cubs was so cute
Bravo. Bravo. Bravo. My No.1 favorite lion documentary is still here!!!
"Lionesses are extremely firm mothers, but also tender" Lioness: *puts cubs entire head in it's mouth for funzies*
Thank you! It was wonderful and relaxing watching this.
Wow! What a beautiful and satisfying documentary of the king 👑 of beast.
I really enjoyed this documentary, with the exception of that poor lioness who was mortally wounded! That broke my heart!
Excellent, the update on the Mara was well overdue for big cat lovers like me. The wild dog piece to the drum instrumentally was sequenced perfectly to the packs movements. Yes, I noticed all the details Brent and his crew put into these productions!! 👏👏👏👏
Dad says I can't even get a drink of water in peace. WTF This video is very nice. Cubs are adorable.
Now the cubs want to get mom for trying to pick up the other siblings their already learning how to protect one another. Even though don't hit back at mom.
Did that lion really just point his unit straight back and fire hose the bush behind him? With such power and authority. I’m blown away. That there is serious talent.
I love this video👍the narrator is great and spot on in letting us know well what's happening and you hear the natural background no music at all 👌👌the video is super👍
Excellent. I wish there were more videos off this standard and quality.
Personally, I hate the quality but we all have our opinions.
I love lions documentaries showing how lions live to survive, How they protect and raised their cute cubs, and keep other males from their territory.
Fantastic! Thank you for posting. They are beautiful to watch. More.
It's nice to see a documentary narrated by Andrew Sachs again. I'd forgotten how wonderful his voice was for nature programs. Hard to believe he's the same guy who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers.

It is amazing to see such a fantastic coverage.
I never understand the addition of music to a beautiful, natural, video of nature.
Enjoyed this.Especially the long segments of footage of the cubs...which I would gladly watch all day. :)
These guys just to cutes. Lions is the most beautiful cats in the wilds. I love Lions. Thank you for sharings.
48:49 was the funniest reaction. He thought there was only one lioness
Old documentaries were better no stupid music no different camera times I love these I’m not sure if these big boys are 550LBS probably 485-500LBS each let’s give respect the time and effort they put into these “The King Of The Savanna”❤️🔥🦁🇿🇦👑
That’s an honest mood, the lions sleep 20 hours out of 24 hours. Edit: The cubs are so cute trying to play with their dads.
Sounds like those Cubs say ow when they're meowing!

i would love to watch this movie to understand how the animals live in the forest and to known more about its life many thanks to everyone who took the time to record these videos into action,, filming this movie is very difficult thanks so mush 👍👍
I bought a copy of this documentary on a VHS tape and copied it to dvd after first watching it in the early 90s. Excellent documentary. This and the stuff the late Joan and Alan Root filmed at Mnzima Springs on hippos.
Wow, so happy to have come across this; a documentary from my childhood!
One of the best Documentary of Lions I have watched! Thank you!
Indeed!
A wonderful film. Des & Jen Bartlett were a wonderful Australian wildlife camera team who filmed epics for Survival Anglia. The Lion pride has plenty of prey in their territory yet the Zebra, Wildebeest and Spring bock, are not easy to hunt and Elephants and the rare Black Rhino give the preditors the run around the water hole at night.
Great simple and informative documentary
Even though I've seen countless videos about lions, watching the male open his jaws is intimidating. Wow.
A wonderful story, so nicely told. Thank you so much for posting. I quite enjoyed it.
The filming and narration is one the best I've seen, engaging and choregraphed in a way that captures the interest of the audience, well done.

Wonderful story! My favorite scenes are: Young preteen elephant "intimidating" the loin pride (with the weight of mother, aunts amd older sisters to back her up" (smiling) And...a preteen little rhino playing with lion cubs around the watering hole! Plsy is the universal language of most all baby animals
These documentaries were my life on weekends as a kid lol every Saturday morning. Other kids were jumping up early to watch cartoons, I was up to watch national geographic explorer & whatever animal documentary was on after.
You must have been a weird kid
Poachers and hunters have endangered lions and they need to be punished and stopped to save these beautiful animals!
I think lions need ot fight back seriously i think im gonna go to the jungle gather all the male lions and turn the tables....
@@herbertemberga8290 lol you can't gather male Lions together .. that will most likely end up the majority of them dying. I say humans camp out and snipe the poachers. I would most definitely take that as a job lol they should get training in how to interact with all the animals (if there's a situation that they get stuck in) etc..
It no poachers white man wanting to hunt them is the problem.
Not just that theres the canned lion hunts.
John Bateman you are a stupid hypocritical racist
the cubs are so adorable!!!!!!!

The way mothers take care of their children is so cute. Love is something magical
