Welcome to the official Austin John Plays KZhead channel! On this channel you will find a variety of content like News, Tips & Tricks for Pokemon Violet & Scarlet, Legends Arceus, Tears of the Kingdom, The Legend of Zelda, and more!
The "Welcome to the War Room" should be part of your intro for Mightiest Mark videos moving forward. 😂💪🏻☝🏻
Agreed!
I am for this
Yes!
Also playing „Fortunate Son“ in the background
Please keep this for raids going forward
Gallade Ability: Steadfast/Sharpness Tera: Fighting Item: Shell Bell Evs: 252 Attack, 252 Special Defense, 4 HP Moves: Sacred Sword, Swords Dance, Skill Swap (TM) & Sunny Day (TM) Make sure to not have any Intimidates on your team. You may die once, which is fine. Apply Swords Dance when needed. Sacred Sword hits for max damage through the Iron Defense. Turn 1: Skill Swap Turn 2: Sunny Day Turn 3: Swords Dance Turn 4: Sacred Sword
Out of curiosity. How fast did you beat Empoleon with this build?
Wouldn’t sharpness be better?
@@7swordquanta459 I had about a quarter of my bar left when I finished. Out of the 3 times I've solo'd the raid I never hit the "building up energy" mark.
@@voodookvngg1112Doesn't matter because you're skill swapping on Turn 1 to get competitive. Tera raid mons are immune to flinching so Steadfast wouldn't matter here either.
Thanks for the build!
Thanks for doing these videos again, really helpful
War room 🐐 Quick note on resetting npc teams: if you are offline and select the group option it gives you different npcs. Catch: it won’t let you run away in the group session. Either take the ko or restart. Next time you solo it should be the same team. Did this for mewtwo raids.
You don't have to actually go into the battle. While offline, choose the group option, then cancel. Then you can go back to the solo option and you should have different NPCs.
How do I NOT reset team members? No matter what I do, I get a different team every attempt, and I would like to keep the rare teams that are actually good and only failed due to a crit.
I hadn't done a Raid since you stopped doing these. I'm glad they're back.
Love the haircut! Thanks for the help as always, Austin John!
this morning it was looking RUFF lol
Great video once again Austin! Love these "war room" vids! Got lucky on my first try with the Skeledirge build and had a Gardevoir ally that kept using Life Dew to help heal, so things went pretty smoothly!
Thanks John, keep these 7star vids coming, love the info.
Glad to see you made a video on this. Thank you!
Thank you for doing a video on this Autin. Like others has said it is really helpful
Been waiting for this! ❤
Yay I'm so glad you are continuing these!
Just a note to anyone with Bellibolt, there is a chance it uses Mud-shot. Mud-shot lowers Spd so it does activate Competitive. It took a bit for me to realize that
Thank you so much for this! I accidentally missed the last one because I was waiting for your video and it never came so I completely forgot! 😅 I really enjoy the War Room videos and they help immensely, would love it if you would keep doing them 🩵
Thanks for the raid info boss! Appreciate the short and concise video. Love the War Room name lol
Thank you for making this vid, Austin!
thank you smmm for so diligently getting these videos out
I want to thank you for all of your work and effort that goes into your videos. All of the ones I've watched have been immensely helpful and I often come back to your videos whenever I need a reminder about a specific mechanic in games or for example the video containing the trade codes between Pokemon. I almost never leave a KZhead comment because I'm just awkward and get anxiety even just typing. I do not have the DLC yet so the Raids are the only way for me to get those Pokemon currently. Even though it's possible to trade with someone who has the DLC, I wouldn't have anything to offer that they don't have yet and I feel like a burden asking someone I don't know for something for free. So if it is possible I would like to ask for you to continue making videos for the raids in the future, but if for any reason you want to stop, then I completely understand. Sorry for the long message, and I want to apologise for copying this from under your Patch Notes video as well, I just want to give myself a bigger chance to be heard.
0:58 well I'll be damned 😮
Yeah! We talked him into it!
Thanks for doing this!!! Really really appreciate you!!!
awesome strat, did for both games. ty austin!! had a gardevoir npc on my scarlet constantly healing which saved me from having to use slack off like i did on violet
Yes! thankyou for doing these! :D
Ceruledge Ability: doesn't matter Item: Shell Bell Adamant Nature Tera Type: Fire EVs: 252 Atk/Sp Def 252/ HP4 Move set: Bitter blade, Swords Dance, Sunny day, and Clear Smog. Make sure there are no intimidates on team. Turn 1 Sunny Day Turn 2 Bitter blade Turn 3 Swords Dance Turn 4 Swords dance if empoleon is Paralyzed. If not bitter blade I ended terastalizing turn 5/6 for the extra boost often alternating between swords dance and bitter blade. Make sure to keep the sunny day up. Then when the iron defense comea down use Clear smog to eliminate it.
Amazing guide, worked on my first try, with multiplayer (thanks for the Mew and Ogerpon, you guys were amazing)
I like how you give options that you provide:traded starters, stactic encounters, etc, instead of things like arceus where you need 2 more games, and mew where you needed the previous event.
So glad you're doing these again.
Thank you for bringing these back! You make the best poke videos
If you have a team of four players, we figured out a good strategy based on Skeledurge. Skeledurge as suggested Belibolt with Static ability, Mud-slap, Charge and Thunderwave moves. (To focus on keeping paralyzed and lowers accuracy only after the ability swap.) Tinkaton with Own Tempo, light screen, reflect, skill swap and flash cannon (first move is the skill swap, makes it much easier) Koraidon with drain punch and Sunny Day holding a heat rock (to focus on the Sun) tera type fighting. We focused on HP, Sp Def and Atk Got it first try, and nobody even fainted. Thanks as always for the great strategy tips!
i may have found the easiest solo build/strat foir this. fighting-tera annihilape with metronome. focus energy, then spam drain punch, tera when possible
If anyone wants to use a Poliwrath I used for this raid, have at you! Moves: Belly Drum, Drain Punch, Tera Blast (steel), and Amnesia with the item shell bell and the ability water absorb Stats: Adamant nature with 252 attack, 252 special defense and 4 speed. Guarantees survival after a belly drum with the 252 special defense when grass knot is used. Or start with Amnesia and then belly drum when you tera into the steel type Plus it resists three moves and gains immunity to water. Edited: This can work for solos, but this is more of a team based co-op build
I'm eyeing this build, gives me an excuse to train up a shiny Poliwrath I found like a month ago in a random raid. Honestly a good idea. Also!! Poliwrath gets Amnesia as well, and could run Body Slam to try to fish for Paralysis, even Haze to engage any buffs it does.
@@kosakukawajiri5007 noice! There's two ways you can play with the build. Belly drum off the bat OR drain punch until you get to tera steel, then belly drum when doing that
@@KyleThePug Would you believe me if I said I did it 4th try while solo? You are a freaking genius. My first 3 fails were from 1: intimidate bots or spdf droppers and 2: me forgetting to use a Shell Bell. The set I used was an Adamant Water Absorb Poliwrath packing Steel Tera Blast, Drain Punch, Belly Drum, and of all things, Amnesia! It was a bit tense near the end cuz Empoleon had his defenses boosted up, but down to the last seconds my Poliwrath crushed the penguin. Now, to honor you, Ill name this thing Puguin.
How do you use Poliwrath, I can’t use belly drum at the start without fainting from Grass Knot afterwards?
@@excaliburn3d I updated my original comment. Look at it when you can!
Was just about to attempt this. Perfect timing
Hey John been a fan for a long thank you for always bringing good content !!!
So basically use annialape. Got it. Edit: also to reset your team offline just try and make a team and leave it. It resets your team much faster than changing the date.
Annihilape with what moveset?
Use iron hands it’s easier
@@ryanarndt2631 electric or fighting Tera type?
@@madarauchiha3405You seriously asking that? Fighting of course, ffs.
So basically DON’T use Annihilape.
Thanks for this! Glad you covered it. Not just because I suck..
Thank you john❤
Thank you for these, I'm collecting the mightiest marks so these help a lot
Was disappointed when you skipped the last one but glad its back
I used Heatran and it worked pretty well. Heatran Calm Nature Holding Metronome 252 HP 252 SpDef 4 SpAtk Fire Tera Type -Flamethrower -Sunny Day I also had Metal Sound and Earth Power on there but don’t use those. Turn one set up the sun, then just spam flamethrower until you can Terastralize. I did it online with randoms. Had a Ho-Oh, Vaporeon and Iron Hands so those helped for sure, but my Heatran only fainted once so it has staying power.
I found this set really effective: Gallade @ Shell Bell (Tera Fighting) -Skill Swap -Mystical Fire -Swords Dance -Sacred Sword 252 Atk (plus helpful nature), 252 Sp Def 4 HP Strat: Skill Swap turn one. Then spam Mystical Fire, lowering Empoleon's Sp Atk and charging Tera until you get KO'ed. Then Tera, SD, and spam Sacred Sword. Could use Drain Punch, but Sacred Sword bypasses Iron Defense, and Empoleon won't deal enough damage to really hurt you.
works perfectly
very cool, thanks for the video!
Thanks for the tip on changing the NPCs! That really helped me beat and catch the Mighty Empoleon!
What a beautiful set up oh my goodness ive never seen something like that well done
This pokemon raid is hard carried by that Competitive ability. I just completed with a skill swap Gallade but even still you need a light screen setter.
Much appreciated 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gholdengo + 3 Perrserkers Strat - 4 PPL REQUIRED this is a 1-Hit KO strat if it works properly. 2 Fake Tears (It's Instant KO so Competitive doesn't matter) and Atk Cheer required before using Steel Beam/Make it Rain
if you are playing with others where everyone is an attacker. one person can use galarian slowbro as the support it tanks empoleons ice beam really well and no grass knot weakness. I ran it with sunny day, light screen, thunder wave and helping hand. you can also do heal pulse. with full hp and sp def evs set and leftovers. the idea is that while everyone else is attacking your taking out his snow, weakening his attacks and paralyzing him and depending on which set you go with you can use heal pulse to heal teammates or helping hand to increase damage. galarian slowbro is surprisingly versatile as a support almost as much as umbreon.
Why wouldn't you just use Galarian Slowking? Can learn all the same moves but has higher base special defense.
Thanks for the video! I followed the playbook and got my Empoleon
Thank you for your video.
I found my Iron Hands I use for a lot of raids worked, but I had to switch Belly Drum for Swords Dance and run from battle until I didn't get any partner pokemon that lower stats (running resets the partner pokemon). Basically just use Swords Dance at the start of the battle and whenever he resets your stats, and otherwise use Drain Punch.
Just did this strat. Took me a few tries because of unlucky crits, but he big Croc got the job done! Amazing video as always!
How did u do it? Empoleon kept spamming surf and I just keep dying even with max hp ev
@@BBoyr4dic4l Like AustinJohnPlays said, Bellibolt made a great partner with Light Screen and Paralysis with Discharge. Like I said, it took a few tries, so it's not impossible. You got this!
I Used a stellar type walking wake holding charcoal with the photosynthesis ability. Moves where sunny day and flamethrower that I used in battle, the other 2 are up to you. Do note that I was playing online with random other people which worked out fine with a skeledirge, iron hands, and gallade in the group joining me.
I found success with skill swap weak armor sinistea. Beat it first try with randoms using 2 iron hands and a zamazenta. Use skill swap turn 1, defense cheer turn 2, and heal cheer when your teammates get low if they aren't using drain punch or after they belly drum. You can also strength sap an iron hands to get back to up full hp without it affecting the raid at all. I also have a cloyster for multi hits in case someone in the lobby is using a sinistea, but something that can set screens like blissey would work well too to keep everyone alive
how do you turn one skill swap when it dies before it can move? unless you meant polteageist
@@dalepeters3841 Yeah, I meant polteageist. I went out of my way to look at my polteageist because I forgot the name, and then put sinistea in anyway lol
Great Video!
Hey Austin thanks for doing this again, got the same team as you but my Belibolt just kept spamming Mudshot which kept triggering Competitive so I lost super quick.
Thanks for the guide! This looks like it's a difficult one...
Thank you for bringing back The War Room!
@austin great content, have you got link to that damage cal you showed where you input the moves?
Having the Umbreon and the Gardevoir Npcs also helps if you do the raid with Iron Hands since Umbreon uses Thunder wave and Gardevoir uses Life dew. 😁
some how 2 Dialga's a bellybolt and a chansey on an online match worked very well with chansey being mostly the healer like a rpg.
My man, I LOVE these. It does feel like a war room haha
There's actually a guy at blueberry academy who'll give you something if you show them a Pokemon with the mightiest mark. He's at the shop, you know, where you buy stuff with bp.
Strongly recommend Grumpig for this one. Grumpig Ability: Thick Fat Tera: Steel Item: Shell Bell Evs: 52 Special Attack, 204 Special Defense, 252 HP Moves: Flash Cannon, Simple Beam, Nasty Plot, Amnesia. Just make sure you use Simple Beam turn 1 to avoid Competitive from stacking boosts (Flash Cannon special defense drops can be problematic otherwise)
Thanks for the build ! Gonna try it with my grumpig
Vaporeon Ability: Water Absorb Tera: Fire Item: Shell Bell Evs: 252 SP Attack, 252 Special Defense, 4 HP Moves: Sunny Day (TM), Haze, Calm Mind (TM), Weather Ball (TM) Make sure to not have any Intimidates on your team. You may die once, which is fine. Apply Haze when needed. Weather Ball 3 times first and Terastilize. Use Sunny Day plus Weather Ball for fire damage Turn 1: Weather Ball Turn 2: Weather Ball Turn 3: Weather Ball Turn 4: Terastilize + Sunny Day Turn5: Weather Ball Fire
I used Slowking with leftovers, STELLAR Tera Type, calm nature. Ability: Oblivious/Own Tempo Flamethrower Skill Swap Light Screen Amnesia Could also swap out one of these moves for Sunny Day
I missed this videos
Kudos to that war room comment, that was also my favorite one from the patch note vid!
I’d recommend Ceruledge (^Sp. Def./^Attack), using Sunny Day, Swords Dance and Bitter Blade. With Sunny Day healing Ceruledge and Bitter Blade doing bonus damage while also being a healing move, I never even dropped below 150 HP while still doing solid damage every other turn.
Lets go!!! The King has returned
Thanks for the napoleon strat!
Might try this haven't done one of these raids in a while
You can also reset npcs by start to look out for more players and instantly ready up
My NPCs reset every attempt, I'd actually like to know how y'all are KEEPING the npcs, because the few times I've gotten a decent team, I get crit like turn 4, and then I have to spend forever trying to find a useable team again...
@@ultlifeform search for players solo, ready up, start battle, lose, then u can ready up solo, the second option, that worked on last patch, idk if after the updare
@@greytestgrey3837 Do you mean you have to first do a group battle, but start it before anyone else joins, as opposed to just using the challenge by yourself option?
@@ultlifeform yes yes, losing a solo group battle will keep your team for going in solo raid battles, but if u search group again it will re shuffle the npc Edit:if u dont find the team u want at yhe start of the battle, restarting the game is faster
@@greytestgrey3837 That's so weirdly counterintuitive, "select group to play solo," lol. I was just going into solo raids, because I wanted to do them solo, and I was getting new teams every time, so I was really confused at the video and all the comments being like "here's the secret to getting different teams." And I'm like, "Secret? I thought that was automatic? How do you not? What's THAT secret?" lol Thank you, though. I finally got a good team and the luck I needed to win (insane crit rate, for some reason, kept ruining my attempts, making me find new teams), but I'll try to keep that in mind for next time.
I honestly love these vids! It's so fun to come to the War Room and get a The Briefing from Commander Austin John, featuring intel provided Special Agent Anubis :D
Used a skeledirge too. Calm nature, hyper trained, got it via home so unaware ability but no slack off. I did have protect on it but the only two moves I needed to use were sunny day and torch song, with shell bell equipped for healing. Thankfully didn't have an intimidate mon in the group. Did get frozen by the very first blizzard. I thought welp this attempt is a failure, but used the heal up cheer and kept at it. Did end up getting knocked out once but had not much of a difficulty in beating it on the first try. Blaze might have been a better ability for the skeledirge actually since the empoleon doesn't really boosts itself in any meaningful way and the boost to fire moves would have been really helpful
Love these vids
First raid I hopped into use Skill Swap on it. Then we lowered it's stats. Turned out great.
thanks man
Yaaaay! I missed this videos
I've found that supporting a team of gallade with skill swap and iron hands with 1-2 support mews was very successfull. My support Mew has successfully aided in several empoleon raids. Lvl 100 ofc, EVs maxed on HP and SpDef, last few on spd. Item: Light Clay, Skillset: Light Shield, Sunny Day against the water move Surf and the heightened defense with snowscape, life dew to heal (PP maxed) and the 4th move is optional. Hope this helps some of you when you do raids together.
Grumpig with Simple Beam is huge. Easy to solo with it, and it is great as a support unit with others! Still need to reset if you have AI partners with Intimidate. Also, you do NOT need to change the date to get new ones! I just close out the game and reboot it to get them.
I was rummaging trough my boxes for a good counter (don't have a good Skeledirge) then saw Poliwrath and went like "Minecraft Villager Noise" I tried it like this: Rain dance belly drum amnesia drain punch 252 atk 252 SpDef 4Hp Tera fight and it worked on the 2nd try (first try i got crit/frozen and went NAH IM OUT), just try to tera fight asap so grass knot does less
Metronome Annihilape worked first try for me but I got very good rng with an npc belibolt landing clinch paralysis procs and keeping up light screen.
I used Iron Crown, with calm mind, tachyon cutter, tera type steel, and shell bell.
I swear I keep running out of space for these mightiest mark I feel like we need more than 30 boxes
There hasn't even been enough to fill one box yet.
How so? They barely filled half (if you also count the Mew used against Mewtwo)
Technically in general I run out of space due to breeding but also have 1 main save one and one I use to get duplicates to store on main save
Pretty sure they’ll never expand the in-game storage, they want you to use Home. Which is cheaper than one trip to Starbucks every other month, so I’m ok with that.
@@therealshavenyakToxic mindset here
I was able to bring it down with Tinkaton, she is very happy to get to slay a Steel bird.
I really liked using Fire Tera Vaporeon with sunny day, calm mind, haze, and weather ball.
I already cleared it with a volcarona but saw this and it seemed fun. Gotta say it's the best strat I've seen by a mile. Makes it easy despite not being particularly fast. Just have to have water absorb as an ability and you've got this penguin in hell.
I soloed Empoleon in both versions with good ol' faithful Iron Hands :) My build for Hands: Tera Type: Fighting/Held item: Covert Cloak (Because Ice Beam and Blizzard have a good chance of freezing you and you don't really need a recovery held item because you will be healing with Drain Punch)/252 HP-252 SpDef-4 Atk/Nature: Adamant. You don't really need a defense boosting nature as Hands has a decent special defensive bulk and will have more due to EV training in that stat./Moves: Drain Punch, Electric Terrain, Focus Energy, Swords Dance. It is vitally important with this build to set up Focus Energy as the crits will maximize the damage Hands deals in addition to giving you fantastic healing from Drain Punch. Swords Dance periodically while you are above 50% health, it's risky to try and Dance at low HP as Empoleon can potentially score crits. Electric Terrain is a great early game setup to give you an attack boost. Don't try to set up Dances in the early going because the raid boss will just wipe them clean. Good luck and happy hunting, trainers :)
because he doesnt start shielded, he is vulnerable to ability changing moves. Worry Seed, Simple Beam, Gastro Acid, etc. Did this in a group of 3, swalot for gastro acid and acid spray, weather ball for fire damage after another attacker put up sun (sunny day walking wake) we wore him down quickly enough. Slowbro/slowking with light screen and flamethrower definitely helpful too
Caught my first Mightiest Mark...and on one of my absolute favorite Pokemon, no less. Took two tries. First try, one of the NPCs had an Intimidate Tauros (which wouldn't have been a dealbreaker on its own) and Skeledirge got frozen turn zero. Second try went beautifully, though I was worried I'd run out of time because I was paranoid about keeping Sunny Day up.
Heck ya the war room continues !!!!
Easy with Annihilape for me, first try one catch, but great option too 👊🏼
I did mine with tera fire Volcanion first try. It has water absorb and take 1/4 ice damage before tera. So he basically tickles you with grass knot and icebeam. Just tried it for fun since i had a Volcanion from a SwSh distribution Held Item: Shell Bell. 252 HP, 252 spA, 4 spD... Moves: Flamethrower, Weather Ball, Sunny Day, Haze Just keep up sun and spam weather ball or flamethrower. Heal cheer if needed. I did 1 heal cheer for safety in the double attack portion of the fight. Paralysis is nice for this strat too.
For the blaziken raid, i used a support Malamar build with Skill swap, light screen, swagger, and thunderbolt. I skill swapped contrary to him and they still use their stat boosters even while having contrary which further weaken them. Sounds like it might still be a good strategy to use here. Except i might consider swapping thunderbolt to superpower.
i went with online for this one. used skeleldirge with helping hand along with torch song. HH just in case i need to be a support role. and which i did, someone entered with another skel, iron hands and a mew. i ended up just doing either helping hands on iron hands and heal cheer, mew was doing a life dew too. the other skel just doing a torch song. it was done fast.
Hitmonchan Basically just drain punch and swords dance Ability drain punch Adamant nature I don’t really remember the EV’s but basically up attack to the max, and the rest in speed def and spe.def Terra fighting Punching gloves for held item Did it on my own basically setting up a sword dance then drain punch to recover health then just sword dance again. Able to do it with ease.
I find it funny how you and Osiris have vastly different builds that work in their own way.
Just in case anyone needs it, I actually farmed Empoleon with just Iron Hands and Umbreon a few times. Umbreon: Calm nature Holding Leftovers HP 252 Def 4 Sp Def 252 Skill Swap Sunny Day Snarl Helping Hand Iron Hands: Belly Drum Electric Terrain Drain Punch Close combat Holding Booster Energy Adamant nature Attack 172 Special Defense 252 Speed 84 Turn one: Skill Swap, Belly Drum Turn two: Sunny Day, Drain Punch Turn 3: Health cheer w/Umbreon (if needed) or Snarl. Drain Punch Turn 4: Helping Hand, Drain Punch Turn 5: Snarl, Drain Punch Turn 6: Snarl, Drain Punch After turn 6 we would just have Umbreon keep using health cheer as needed and helping hand while Iron Hands uses Drain Punch. Even if we got an NPC with intimidate, by using this build we were able to save the run most of the times.
Used Iron Hands, Focus Energy + Drain Punch spam with Metronome. 252 hp 252 atk adamant
Calyrex-ice looks good for this has sunny day has steel or fighting moves swords dance hits hard bulky it also gets a boost in snow if anyone has that use it it also has light screen
I finally caught it. I used my Arceus from Legends Arceus. It’s was already level 100 since I used it in Legends Arceus a lot. I’d transfer it to Violet, taught it Sunny Day and Tera Blast, and kept Judgement and Recover. I also gave it an Iron Plate and changed its Tera type from Normal to Stellar.
