you can actually buy custom keys for the blackwidow keyboard. Search cherry blue mx keys and you will see you can get a blue version of this. Also in red and some other colours.

I got it, the Razer Green switches (actually Kailh Blue switches) feel just as good as Cherry MX Blues if not better than Cherry MX Blues. It's a great keyboard so far.

I love Razer products. But they really need to change their product names. For examples: This new keyboard, the name is "BlackWidow Ultimate" the previous was "BlackWidow Ultimate 2013" how can you tell the differences between the previous generation and this new? By just taking out the "2013" and thats going to let people know without the "2013" will be newest? If you are going to buy your 1st gaming keyboard and you look it up "BlackWidow Ultimate" or "BlackWidow Ultimate 2013" which is the new or old version o.0?? Cmon Razer, you need to change the name.

I'm playing a game [Elsword] that requires a bunch of precision on arrows keys and z x keys. I'm planning on getting just the Razer Black Widow. It says it has a 10 stroke rollover. Would it be safe to assume I won't be ghosting at all if I'm primarily using the arrow keys and z&x? Any information/personal experiences on this specific keyboard would be really helpful!

Interesting. Compared to standard mechanical switches, you claim a .3mm shorter nominal actuation point. But your manufacturing tolerance is +/- 0.4mm (total of 0.8mm range of actuation point)? This falls within tolerance error, meaning that some standard mechanical switches will have the same actuation point or shorter (and vice versa). So what exactly is the point of a shorter nominal actuation point if you guys don't tighten up the tolerances further?
Is this keyboard newer than the black widow ultimate?
I've bought the Blackwidow Ultimate not so long ago, and I have to say, it's been great to me. I just don't like how "clicky" it was, but then again, it was my mistake not getting the stealth version. Other than that, I enjoy playing DOTA2 with it. The macro keys really help in stepping up my game by a decent amount, and the bright green light helps for all night gaming. I also have the Razer Taipan and the Vespula to match it. I'm looking forward to getting some new headphones, although I have a Hammerhead Pro that I use almost everywhere I go. My gear may not match the computer very well, since I've been using an old laptop handed down to me by my dad that's been overheating a lot recently despite having a fan under it. I really appreciate what you guys do for gamers around the world. People might say it's a bit overpriced, but to me it's all worth it. More power to the Razer team!

I want a none staggered key layout mechanical keyboard. Like all the keys laid out straight like on the NumPad. Thumbs up if you agree so Razer see's this because this hasn't been done yet by any gaming company or indeed any keyboard company & I have no idea why.

That wont happen till 2015 atleast as Corsair and Cherry have a 1 year contract so corsair will be the only ones able to use the MX RGB switches

e30Birdy They aren't Cherry, I am now reading.. It's a Chinese manufactured Cherry MX clone with a lower actuation point basically.. So they cheaped out on quality but they did avoid any legal ties with Cherry if they wanted to do their own RGB version. I'm sad about the quality drop from German made switches to Chinese though.
Deathbrewer Cherry tried producing switches in China aswell but their switch wasnt the same quality as the ones from Auerbach, Germany which i live like right next to =) so they kept the production here. Cherry builds all their switches in germany and then gets the keyboards assembled in china. But i will be honest my MX Board 3.0 is solid, actually all 3 test samples are solid! I use to be a razer fanboy until all my shit kept breaking and the people at gamescom or support saying it isnt a known issue but type in razer mouse double click and then you will see a million threads.. I now run a Roccat Kone XTD for FPS, a Logitech G600 for MMO and a mx board 3.0 with browns. Solid setup

Really good keyboard IMO. I have the blackwidow ultimate cherry blue and i really enjoy typing and gaming on it. Tried cherry black and red and didn't like it as much as cx blue.
I've been waiting for the Black Widow Ultimate Stealth edition since before Christmas, and it's been a long wait. Hopefully it was worthwhile!

Nope inc. It has nothing to do with the signal, it's transferred at the same speed as any other 1000hz keyboard. It's a matter of actuation speed, there's a very clear difference between those two things (physical real-world vs digital). To better answer Illuminator's question, mechanical keyswitches allow for easy confirmation of each key press..With common-place membrane keyboards keys can often become easily unresponsive, they generally aren't as fast reacting (for repeating keypresses, rubber domes can't shake a stick at mechanical switches) and don't have ghosting issues. There are a lot of advantages. The best thing you can really do is get your hands on one to try one. Every key you press is a sure press, they're just incredibly well made keyboards (every mechanical keyboard has a metal plate in the back that the switches rest on, they feel like they're built like tanks) furthermore any mechanical keyswitch lasts multitudes as long as copper membranes do. So even for the high initial price, a mechanical keyboard is a long-term investment (like 10-20 years), so as long as you keep it clean, it's hard to go wrong. Hope that helps.

I'm quite happy with my DAS. Had two Blackwidow Ultimates (the original blue keyswitch version and the Ultimate Stealth 2013 edition) and always go back to my DAS professional S. I seriously doubt this will change my mind about Razer products...It's all gimmicks. This is merely a tweak on the Cherry Blue switch, nothing more. Mechanical keyboards (or really any keyboards) don't need the following that Razer seems to think are necessary: AntiGhosting: (ghosting is impossible on mechanical keyswitches, there is no membrane to cross signals) also, PS/2 doesn't have this problem. They limit the blackwidow ultimate to 10 keys, N-Key rollover has no limit. 1000hz "Ultrapolling": An attempt to alleviate delay caused by USB by constantly pinging the bus, delays that are so god damn minor, human interaction can't possibly affect it. PS/2 doesn't have this problem. Gold-plated USB connectors: Same as overpriced HDMI cables. It's a digital signal, it will either get there, or it doesn't. Waste of money. I could go on, but I think you guys get the picture. All that being said, the dramatic soundtrack to this was quite awesome.
Cailen Franze I won't disagree on the PS/2 part, but the fact that they don't allow the keyboard to even work over PS/2 using an adapter (and use a secondary USB for lighting/hub/etc) is also a bit unacceptable for the many who like that option..I am somewhat saddened to see PS/2 going away, it's mostly gaming grade motherboards that are going away from it first, which are also largely gimmicky products..but it does make sense for Razer. Gold only presents an advantage over copper in analog applications, it is the better conductor and won't oxidize as quickly as copper, but it isn't any more effective in this kind of application, there is no speed or data transference difference at any measurable level. That being said, gold is used in microprocessors because it's lower electrical resistance, reduces heat..but that's a grid of millions of microswitches/transistors, not a USB port.
Only issue I have with it is that you can't change the LED

Well if you crack your keyboard open and you watch some tutorials it's possible... but you have to buy other switches (probably MX switches) + I know a player who has all types of Cherry MX switches in his num.block (WubWoofWolf ~ a osu player)

Thermaltake's new mechanical board with the cheaper switches is... well... cheaper... come on Razer, your products have always been expensive... would be nice to see your stealth version really stealth by including the mod you can do with the specially designed rubber o-rings to prevent bottoming out. MaxKeyboards, Deck, Topre, and now the new RGB Cherry MX series Corsair will be using are all on my top list. Have modded the 2013 BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth Edition, and it's pretty nice, but now to have to pay the same price for inferior made switches... not so sure about that one.
Thank God the only change was the key switches. I was prepared to buy a new one, not anymore though. It's expected that companies release new products during Q1-Q2. For people nagging about how they feel ripped off only having the older model for a few months that is your fault and your decision. If you want any product it's best to buy it at release so you spend the most amount of time with it, hence you won't feel ripped of as much. Or buy it nearing discontinuing stage so you get a massive discount.
