  • Competition is healthy. Every "The Sims"-fan should be ecstatic that someone is challenging EA.

    • That's the benefit of going with a more cartoony/stylized theme, it hides any technical limitations. If everything is open world, having items with a high polygon count will quickly melt most computers. Bit with it being completely open to mods, I'm sure there are many modders that will be more than happy to bridge that gap.

You don't have to pre-order (you can only pre-order on Epic), but you can simply buy it on Epic or Steam when Early Access opens normally in September, just like any released game. You won't get to play it any earlier if you pre-order (just so you know), and heads up - you also won't get the ridiculous download problems and rubbish on first day like you do with EA's App. Steam and Epic work like a dream with regard to downloading and access, with no delays or bottlenoses at all. Meanwhile, you can wishlist it on Steam to watch it's development if you like. The only difference is that it will have some features missing - but given the state of The Sims, which has always had MASSIVE features missing, the early access release will probably be more complete than The Sims 4 is NOW. And a lot less buggy, lol!! Most early access games are a lot LESS buggy than The Sims 4 is generally. I play a LOT of early access games and I rarely encounter a bug in hundreds of hours of gameplay. The Sims 4 is pre-early-access standard (Beta standard at most) in terms of bugginess - it's bugginess is highly unusual. Most games, even early access games, are NOT usually buggy like The Sims 4, lol. The Sims 4 is rather 'special' that way...

I hate when games try to become less of what they could be just to be able to have a bigger sell number, to be honest. As in, how much will be in place on launch that isn't reliant on the modding community and asset creators? Also the graphics are seriously dodgy, they look like far too alpha but also something that came out of Cities: Skylines when it launched eight years ago! I'm really not a fan of the conversation system, it looks like they've just nabbed ChatGPT and imported a variety of it into the game. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it once it comes out, and agree that the competition that this and Paralives creates for The Sims franchise is very important and healthy, but unless it gets either a massive graphical overhaul or modders make enough stuff that has a nicer style, I can't really see myself playing this. That being said, I remember being very put-off by the change in art style between TS3 and TS4, back when TS4 first came out, and thought I'd never like that artstyle, and at this point I absolutely adore that more cartoonish style. • And how much will come pre-made in the game? I already spend an hour in CAS then another two hours decorating house in the Sims. I don’t want to have to create a lot, create a house, create a script, create all the furniture etc that sounds like a lot of work. So I wonder how much will be available and ready to play from the get go

    • @@x1asheratmidnight1x yes! Exactly that. I don't get a lot of time to play and it takes me hours to just get set up in the sims. I'm worried it would take me even longer if I had more options. Lol

  • I am genuinely so excited for this game. I think it will generate some healthy competition and hopefully some innovation. Did anybody else notice at five minutes, and 56 seconds the little present on the doorstep? Rod going back to his roots.

  • I hope the simulation in the game is as powerful and deep as the other paradox titles

  • I'm really interested in this game. It seems like Sims 3 in more to date graphics. I'll wait to find out more in the coming months.

  • Thank you for a very informative video...to what appears to be a game with many exciting features - especially the included modding tools - all credit to the developer for going above and beyond!

  • It looks ugly, but it looks like because it’s so unfinished (which is what they say by early access) It’s clear that the character movements aren’t gonna be left like that, looks like placeholders

  • With further development and mods this game is gonna be GREAT!

  • There’s something about the graphics that look outdated and updated at the same time. I find I don’t like realistic people in video games because they always end up looking uncanny. Also there’s a lot of mod support and customization so I wonder how much there is pre-made ready to play. My first impression is that this game is more for people who like the customization and development work of creating mods in the Sims 4. However I’m very glad that there will be more competition for the Sims. I hope this game is pretty successful to encourage more life sim games to be created in general and of course to challenge EA

  • I hate being a pessimistic b*, but the fact that it looks SO similar to The Sims 3 makes me concerned about how laggy or buggy it will be when it is released. But I'm still very excited for it! Any competition for The Sims is very welcomed in my book

  • I'm definitely more intrigued by this than I had been. But you're right, the more competition the better.

  • One of my main concerns is how empty the world looks. Maybe I need to watch the trailer again, but I hope this won't be another sims 3 where lots are empty sometimes

  • I'm in love with life by you ❤ it really looks amazing and it's high time Sims gets competition because EA has been milking it's customers money for far too long.
