Michael Yon - Secrets of the Darién Gap | SRS
Michael Yon is a Former Green Beret, Author, Photographer, and War Correspondent. After serving in the U.S. Army Special Forces, Yon retired his rifle in favor of a camera. He began his journalism career in December of 2004 in Iraq, covering some of the World's most complex conflicts and war zones. His writing and photography lead him to over 100 countries during his 20 year career. Most recently, he's been in South America covering an unknown path for illegal immigration into the United States: The Darién Gap.
The Darién Gap is a region that connects the Southernmost part of Panama and Northern Colombia. This area has become the preferred way of travel for hundreds of thousands of migrants since the late 2000's. The Darién Gap is largely unregulated and only maintained by a faltering assortment of NGOs and smugglers. In this episode, Yon breaks down how the region functions in illegal immigration and the growing threat it poses to U.S Sovereignty.

I was in the Army for 10 years and prior to getting out I went on a “deployment” to Ethiopia. It was seen as a training mission. We were in the vast desert, I’m talking monkeys, donkeys, and giraffes all over the place. We slept in one man tents in the middle of nowhere during this training. The Ethiopian people were great and one day they asked us to take a walk with them they wanted to show us something. We marched through the open desert and got to the top of a mountain and they kept pointing into the distance. I got my binoculars out and what do I see? A HUGE industrial plant out there in the middle of nowhere. We asked the interpreter what that was and he told us the Chinese built it and they were also in the process of building a railroad a few miles away. It was such a crazy sight to see. With the knowledge from this episode and from what I’ve seen with my own eyes it’s almost clear that the Chinese are playing the long game, as well as setting conditions for eventual world domination. I know that can sound insane but what else could it possibly be??
It is called national security and national interests. All nations do it or should attempt to do so. America, France, England and Spain all got to conquer the world and colonize but when a country like Germany or Russia wants to do anything they are the worst people in history. It is political viewpoints. Japanese for example also. We only stopped recently because we are being controlled by a international global community who wants us weak or neutralized so others can catch up or surpass us. The U.N. and Department of Homeland are down there setting these camps up on purpose. It is all an agenda and it has been in motion atleast 50 years full steam.

Separately, Peter Zeihan has been talking about how 1-2 Billion people will starve to death in the next 5 years due to demographic collapse (the old people of many countries need young people to care for them, but they didn't have kids, like China, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Italy, Canada.... Some places are trying to import. China seems to be trying to export their people to control all of the other countries too... The Washington DC accelerated it by destroying Nordstream II, and Germany is suffering immensely with high energy costs, and no young people to care for the old...

While listening I realized what a masterful interviewer Shawn Ryan is. He didn't interrupt Michael Yon's mind-blowing story, other than to ask him to expand on a topic. This shows true humility, another trait of a great host.
That’s why he is the best podcaster. He doesn’t try to interject himself into the story. Most other clowns aren’t listening to what’s being said, they’re thinking of what to say next, most of the time over speaking a guest that is smarter than them. SRS is the best hands down.

He's a fantastic journalist - his written content on his old Michael Yon Online website was essential reading during the height of the war on terror. Unfortunately, like others, he is difficult to focus on a particular topic in podcast environments, and so it loses some of its punch.

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing all the information he shared, and his unique way of sharing it. Even if he was kinda' all over the map with all of it. I had the impression he has so much more knowledge and information he could have shared (given enough time), that it is difficult to stay on just one topic. Especially when adequate time for sharing it is so limited. I certainly hope you can have him on your show again.

I think it’s evident through Yon’s pressured speech patterns that he’s accumulated a ton of combat exposure. What lends credence to his world view is his diligent effort to track down the facts behind his intuitions and views; he has consistently been on the mark for over two decades. He covered my old unit’s deployment in Mosul in 05’ and since then his dispatches have offered me an incredibly foretelling countenance to the pervasive “corporate narrative”. In early 2014 I read a survival article, while living in the city, that said we need to be at least five miles from any major freeway. I could see one out our front window. I prayed. Within a week, we were moving to the country. We've been there ever since. Thank you God.

Ive been called crazy by some for pointing out how asians are overtaking mexico us and canada being aloud to buy land and freely invest in businesses and development of national wealth. All I can say is WOW! I know that there is chaos in the world but Michael tied it all together and brought it right to my front door. THIS is why they are desperately trying to stop/end Donald Trump I knew a little but Again Michael Yon painted the picture for me. This interview was a serious gut punch for me, I am seriously unprepared for what is happening outside my bubble and by the time it hits me it will be too late. Please do several more episodes with Michael Yon, all of your shows are great but this one had a huge impact. Our country needs a massive change but I fear it wont survive that change.
I am for stricter immigration policies , bu not for Trump. He is unfit on so many levels and issues. Too bad he is the nominee.

Shawn this one was insane. And boy have I seen a crazy shift here in texas. Im leaving samsung austin semiconductor to move to alaska to look after a mine. But not to speak on china but the koreans? The ways they move? Scary. For instance their construction company Secai , they are first class citizens compared to us. They eat FIRST. its on boards in front of the buildings, we arent allowed to approach or talk with them first. They have korean meetings where i have PERSONALLY seen our head engineer be sent away. The stages are being set and all i hope is everyone looks after one another. We may be outnumbered but we arent alone. And Shawn. I've been looking forward (dreadfully) to this interview for a loooong time. Thanks to Shawn and Michael for making it happen! I'm now 58 and this is the most harrowing time of my life. We are in an almost unimaginable jam. Hey Shawn I love your show. Just wanted to add that there has been a HUGE influx of Chinese and indian immigrants in Canada , especially in Vancouver and Toronto. I always wondered what was happening but this episode has brought alot of light to my eyes. Thank you.
In the past 25 years there has been a huge influx and especially the last 5. Makes me not want to raise children here. The sense of community is completely diminished
2017-18(?) the Chinese military set up camp in BC. Camp was Prince Rupert and an island off VanCouver Island. Canada said it was just “trainings 🙄.” A guy I was following online said he was going to go check it out. He drove to Prince Rupert first and talked to the locals and took pics. Chinese were set up alright… to stay. Next stop off VanCouver Island… same thing. He reported what he personally witnessed and then he just disappeared. I lived (grew up) 45 min from the BC border in WA and I can tell you the influx of Chinese coming in significantly increased starting 10+ years ago. They were buying up land everywhere. This same guy (sorry can’t remember his name) said the Chinese army wasn’t just in BC but spread out across Canada. Just waiting for the green light.
I've heard about this and seen some of those videos. Canada is full of bleeding hearts and that's what country's that are trying to take over LOVE. The majority of people here don't care to learn about these things because it would make them seem "racist"... F THAT! Individually I dont know what I can do to stop this but I staying well armed seems to be step 1.

His special ops experience and being a Renaissance world traveling reporter is KEY in understanding and helping warn Americans about what the globalists/CIA/international bankers are planning! When I try to talk to people about what's going on, it's like their eyes just glaze over and they don't even want to hear it. I feel like I'm on a bus heading towards a cliff and the brakes have given out, and it's just a matter of time at this point. Not sure what else to do..

Shawn this was a great & extremely necessary episode, with regards to discussing the border & the truth of how this Treasonous, Trader, Anti-American Administration is on purpose, systematically stripping away America's & American's abilities to protect our Border, Country, States, Cities, Towns, Neighborhoods, Homes & Ourselves, as well as our Constitution & American way of life & our Freedoms. I'm a Huge fan of the SRShow and I've watched just about every episode and some more than once in truth. Sometimes more than twice in reality, truth be told. There's a U.S. Army Story I've recently come across that would be a great interview for you. They call this man the Dealiest Soldier in Modern U.S. History He fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His name U.S. Army Sgt 1st Class Dillard Johnson. In Iraq, he joined Charlie Troop, 3rd Squadron, 7th Cavalry. During his 1st tour he was Commander of, & was Piloting the M2A3 Bradley Tank, knicknamed, "Carnivore" Taking out a truckload of Iraqis with six high-explosive rounds in March 2003 at the battle of As Samawah, gave him his first KIAs. He says he counted the dead by tallying the found rifles & human heads. In that 1st tour he had a total 2,625 confirmed kills His 2nd tour he had 121 kills as a sharp shooter. In that second tour, in 2005, he went out as a sniper, logging those 121 kills. His furthest kill was at 821 yards & was with an M4 or M14 Platform. Those were his 2 used Platforms. His total confirmed kills between both tours was totaled up to 2,746 confirmed kills. It's been said that there's previous wars where U.S Servicemen have had higher totals but they were before we had Officially Booked Confirmed Kills. So he is technically the U.S. Serviceman with the highest Confirmed Kills in all of "Officially Recorded" U.S. Military History. I also read that he has Cancer so his time is potentially growing short. He wrote a book about his time at war called "Carnivore" I can only imagine, that if you could get him on the show it would be an amazing and necessary episode. It would be documenting American Military History & that's an important & necessary task. Thanks Again for all that you do for us Americans & fans of the show. What an amazing tribute to a helluva soldier! I was the spouse of a man like this... Korea and 3 tours in Vietnam. 7 purple hearts. Bronze star with V (originally Silver Star. Busted to BS due to some unfortunate pics of heads on pikes). I never felt so safe, i can tell u that.

It helps to change speed when watching. Have never had to do that in all of Shawn's other guests. Not a problem with someone who speaks maybe faster than others but this is the first time Shawn's questions aren't answered in order. Thank you, Shawn, for backing up to your original questions and trying to keep focus and keep order. This one is hard at times with incomplete sentences and thoughts so makes it difficult to follow this time but great info Shawn and informative! Please share everyone! This is often a problem with people who are very smart. This guy is thinking about 10 times faster than he can speak and he’s trying to paint the entire picture.
@@ForgingFreedomTV I agree. Yon understands so much and was thinking so fast, he was struggling to describe it all - which led to constantly jumping to a new thought before finishing his sentence. I appreciated Shawn's efforts to ensure we could all follow the train of thought and identify the takeaways. One thing's for sure - I'm about to renew my efforts at prepping, and get back into training with my pew-pews.
Most of the video contains him giving qualifications for what he is talking about. "Well I know this because....".He never really provides any useful information. One of my least favorite interviews.
Yes, not everyone thinks or talks similarly. Despite the detailed, disjointed, and tangental way the guest spoke, he did answer the questions...just in roundabout ways. The guest is like the type of person who will walk an entire city just to get across the street! But...woah...does he surely come back with lots of stories to share! Why am I commenting...because I tend to think and talk the same way. It was pleasant to see someone "like me" sitting in that seat answering questions, knowing most others would find him difficult to follow. It drives people nuts. My daily childhood "timeouts" were rarely for being bad, they were for me to "be quiet for 10-15 minutes." I have a natural curiosity for everything and for everyone, and I love to travel unconventionally, oftentimes traveling solo.

All I can say is wow. Just absolutely amazing the selfless commitment that this gentleman and his great crew have displayed just leaves me speechless. God bless all of them for caring enough to do the great work that our government isn't willing to do. Sad to say about this present administration isn't willing to preform the duties that the USA has always been more than willing to preform. Sad for the administration but says everything that we have always been responsible for cleaning up.
