The Far North (Extreme North) sounds beautiful, romantic and harsh, mysterious and simple. But in fact, what is it like, is it the extreme North and in general, where is it located, what is there, does anyone live there and why do some people and birds go there? Maybe this is a fiction and in fact there is no edge ...
Every year, an old ship, Mikhail Somov, is sent to the Arctic, carrying people with Arctic fever on board to scatter them over uninhabited lands and leave them face to face with the Far North for a whole year.

  • Around 1990, my wife worked out of Longyearbyen, Spitzbergen on an aeromagnetic survey of the Barents sea, together with Russian geophysicists from (I think) the University of St Petersburg. The plane used was Russian, as was the crew, and while the equipment was old, the crew could pretty much fix anything on the fly. After the survey, she made several visits to St Petersburg. She has only good memories of their interaction, as do I when the Russian geophysicists involved visited Oslo.

  • It is such a shame that the political climate makes it difficult for normal people to see the world in a way that good people of any nations should be able to unite and explore. Land belongs to souls not governments and we are all inhabitants of nature

    • Сейчас для связи с "Большой землей" использую только спутниковый телефон, рации уже ушли в прошлое. По месту между собой использую портативные рации....
