75 000 h.p. The Biggest Nuclear Icebreaker
For licensing and collabs: timelab.pro/?...

This video was shot in the Arctic Ocean in March 2018. For 7 days our crew passed through the Barents Sea to Karsky around the Novaya Zemlya archipelago on the nuclear icebreaker Yamal - we saw the northern lights and polar bears, watched the ships stuck in the ice being towed, and were very cold.
In the video you can see two Russian icebreakers - “50 Years of Victory” and “Yamal” with a capacity of 75,000 horsepower and a distinctive shark mouth, which appeared on it in 1994 during one of the children's humanitarian programs. According to legend, someone suggested drawing a smiling shark mouth on the nose to make it more fun for children. At present, Russia has the only nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet in the world. They are used to provide wiring ships in the ices of the Northern Sea Route in the freezing ports of the Russian Federation, research expeditions, rescue operations and tourist cruises.
In addition to the extreme weather conditions, the shooting was complicated by the fact that the icebreaker was always in motion. And if the drone was flying over the radar tower, the recording file was damaged.

I had the great honor to work on that ship for four summers, and the ship was the love of my life if you could love an icebreaker to your heart's core. These icebreakers are the result of Soviet designers and engineers. I talked to the person responsible for the design now. They do colossal work, including taking up such projects again after a long break (since Soviet times). I've been lucky to have a cruise on one of these icebreakers before. Are you aware that over the past few years, 3 more icebreakers of the new series have been put into operation. They are much larger and more powerful than those in the video. One more was launched in November 2022.

I legitimately thought that this video was computer generated. Crazy quality.
So are very many coloured docs - but also in the West!
Main reason for this extra-quality picture is an extremely dry air. All the water at this temperature crystallized and settled. Also, there is no distortion from sunlight and infrared radiation, these are ideal conditions for such a stunning picture. Despite the poor lighting, due to the high coefficient of light reflection from this virgin snow cover, the illumination is sufficient. Science beatch :D

Well the atmosphere is thinner than usual places, so there's almost no noise in the picture.

Those nuclear icebreakers looks so calm and smooth as they moves as if just another day in the office. Really impressive.
Video's full of CGI trash.
Whenever I see this video it gives me motivation to fight back and keep moving on.
1:34 We: "It's not possible." Russians: "No. It's necessary."
That's an Interetellar quote. Music is from Inception
US has ice-breakers too.. US Coast Guard.. Look it up.
@@StanHowse Nothing even close to those monsters. One more than a few occasions the russian nuclear ice breakers were rescuing ours mate.
@@HgHg-yp6ft That is true. Yeah, I suppose you're right.. Given where Russia is and how much cold-weather stuff they do, I would imagine Russians having some of the more powerful Icebreakers.
@@StanHowse actually true... Russia is the only nation with nuclear powered icebreakers, mainly because they have to deal with so much ice and ice fields, that it's safer to have nuclear powered engines than diesel powered ones, since the nuclear fuel takes a longer time to run out...
The power of engineers , respect !
It feels like this thing is living
It is.
Exactly and the crazy part is the crew is not on the deck most of the time. so it seems like its driving itself like a ghost ship 😀
Так и есть
It is. By our lives. I'm proud to give my life to her.
How dare u call u her a thing
Amazing Footage!
Hey, I like sushi :D

I think that ship is like Russia in a modern world. Despite an enormous sanctions and other restictions Russia just move forvard step by step, and anyone can't do anything with it..
❤❤❤
thats siberia, russia is a chunk of land in front of ukraine and belarus, part of old kievan rus
Neskutečný a proto tak nádherný, námořníci byli vždy nejtvrdší chlapi
Yes, KZhead recommended this video. Yes, it’s a random video. Yes, i clicked on it not knowing what to expect. Yes, i am watching it for the 11th on repeat.
Lol
Some Russian guy sent me here from a video about Submarines and Ice Breaching.
Yes, i supported you, tovarisch!!
I like to imagine the ship turning into a post apocalyptic city in the future.
Nice plot for game or film!
@@Vladferrum its already happened, look up Frostpunk
@@veniulem5676 I mean exactly an huge icebreaker ship in the middle of icy nowhere. Not strategy game, but horror or rpg or smth.
This is actually like a book called “icebreaker”
@@shilohrift9789 Read that a few years back. It was pretty good.
