The 2024 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro Is A Likably Flawed Electrified Go-Anywhere Truck

2024 ж. 14 Мам.
215 939 Рет қаралды

The #Toyota #TundraTRDPro has always been the most capable version of the #ToyotaTundra for years and the latest version combines the #iForceMax #Hybrid powertrain of the latest generation. The result is an interesting truck that happily slots between a Ford F-150 Raptor and Tremor.

  • Happy Weds everyone! If you can’t decide between something like an F-150 Raptor and Tremor, the TRD Pro version of the new Tundra may just be the happy medium buyers are looking for. It also happens to be the ONLY hybrid option in the segment of factory built Off-Road trucks and that makes this a very unique offering! Also, incase you’re curious, we’ll be driving the new Tacoma in early November, so stay tuned!

  • This is a very good review. Pay attention to the very quick and passing small criticisms throughout the video, they are spot on! I’ve been comparing Tundra against GMC and Dodge and Tundra is simply behind the competition. Have always loved Toyota, but if you’re gonna drop this kind of $, you owe it to yourself to give the competition serious looks and consideration. I did, and I pulled the trigger on a GMC Denali Ultimate, over the T. Capstone. So glad I did, and this coming from a Toyota fanboy all my life.

  • I had a 2022 Tundra TRD Pro for about 6 months. I really did not like it especially the hybrid regen braking system that made a loud humming noise every time I stepped on the brake (Toyota claimed that was "normal"). I disliked that so much it took the fun out of driving the truck. Ended up trading it in for a 2023 F150 Raptor and couldn't be happier. When discussing the MSRP Toyota (as well as all other manufacturers i guess) has really crapped on it's customer base. The video mentions that the 2024 MSRP is around $71K...in 2022 the MSRP of my Pro was $66500. Just shows how crazy truck prices have gotten (and that's not just Toyota)...same exact truck as two years ago but $5-6K more.

    @AgentGeo@AgentGeo7 ай бұрын
    • Interesting comment about the braking. Savage Geese mentioned a weird humming noise when they tested the Sequoia. I think Toyota blew it with the Tundra. The Big 3 trucks are just much more refined and still offer v-8s. The Capstone is a joke, offering the black and white interior as the only option. I know the fan boys will claim these trucks will go " a million miles" but we don't know what the reliability will be for a few years.

  • Really good video and breakdown of the TRD PRO. I am a Toyota fan but for the price, can Toyota at least act like they can produce a quality interior (hard plastics and the back seat doors was a step down). Not to mention upgrading the bed power supply to match the Ford’s wattage. And lastly get rid of the digital camo pattern. • From my observation Every cars and trucks has their own FLAWS… And these are the FLAWS that i’ve found on the TUNDRA trucks…Toyota needs to upgrade premium speakers for better sounds, upgrade the keyfob as well it’s kinda plasticky and cheap. Eliminates and no more middle hump on the floor in the backseats and Add front tow hooks also… if Toyota fix these problems they sell them trucks like hot cakes !

  • After 3 weeks and 1000 miles on my 2024 Tundra (I Force 3.5L, TRD Sport 4x4, Sport Premium package, Crewmax, 5.5 bed) consider the following: Pros Electronic steering is great, tightens at highway speeds, looser at low speeds Transmission very smooth Excellent power at low RPM, Sport mode is truly something that will get your attention 19.2 MPG average over a mix of highway and town Quiet at highway speeds Seats very comfortable Transfer case shifting very smooth (4H, 4L, etc.) Materials seem to be good quality, seats, molding, trim, etc. Handling is very, very good for a truck (steering, cornering) Cons Had to refit a piece of the window trim that was loose from factory, unacceptable QC from Toyota on this 22 gallon gas tank is a loser - Toyota really screwed up with 22 gallons being the base tank size Radio does not mute when using Apple Car Play for voice messaging, music/radio keep playing HAVC controls are not ideal, hard to see in the daylight On fan speed 3 and above there is a whistle noise from the defroster Auto start stop must be disabled every time you start the truck, should offer a way to permanently turn it off Cannot comment in reliability or durability in just 1000 miles.

  • A PHEV pickup would be really nice for those that barely use a pickup's features most days but still need the power those few times a year (half of pickups out there). 85% of the time I use my 1/2 ton pickup for basic errands around a suburban town and usually use less than 25 miles a day on the days that I use it. Would be nice for all electric for those short trips and have the engine drivetrain for the other 15% where I am towing/hauling my 8000 lb RV for the weekend (the only real times I actually need the full power of the pickup). Full Electric when towing is not there yet and fast charging while connected to a trailer is even harder to come by. There should be some govt incentives towards PHEV's in the pickup sector as that is a popular vehicle type in the US (especially the south).
