Eva is quickly becoming one of my favorites. She's probably one of the most human, and watching her and Jasper interact makes my heart so happy.
Eva does such an amazing job of selling her character. Jasper is my favorite of the regulars, but Eva is one of my favorite special guests.
They both are, and I love that the two most human characters are the least human-looking

I love the contrast of dark-shrouded Jasper and pale Eva next to each other.

Some people literally don't react very expressively to pain. I had a lung collapse (lung pops a hole, leaks air into your chest until it can't inflate anymore and you suffocate to death on the air in your chest) when I was seventeen. The flat tone I explained the extraordinary pain I was in convinced the school nurse that I just had heartburn for the first time or was trying (badly) to get out of finals.
I also think shock isn't necessarily something Vampires experience. They don't work off of adrenaline
I have no idea how Jason manages not to bust out laughing sometimes. That early "I'll make a note was just so well placed that he made nellie break character for a couple secs.
It is not easy, these players really make it difficult to hold myself together sometimes!
I love how the coteire becomes an akward family trying to get their jasper together with eva when jasper just like 'can i not be just friends with people?'
I love Jasper's attempt at small talk/girl talk. "So... Greg seems... Nice" That made me crack up.

I'm way late to the party, BUT CAN WE JUST ADDRESS HOW EVA BECOMES SUPER CALM AND DIDNT FIGDET AFTER JASPER REASSURES HER THAT HE WONT TELL STRAUSS!! Also, the way Eva subtly looks over at Japser when he says "There are now two" when talking about the Kindred he now likes. And another edit cuz I am extremely strange, best lines in the entire episode. Nelli: "Yes, its gonna be a very looong kiss." Eva: "Are we all there?" Jasper: *groans in uncomfortable*

@@rationalroundhead6739 Ipsissmus is anarch, Carna is technically still in the Cam. The houses are more about the relation to the pyramid than the sect relationships and also who they embrace. Basically this: 1 House Tremere - Pyramid loyalists, Cam allegiance, embraces more academic types 2 House Goratrix - Broke Rank, joined the sabbat, are the Tremere antitribu clan, embrace more devious types/criminals 3 House Carna - New, Not loyal to the pyramid, Some are Cam and others Find the freedom of the Anarchs, embrace people who genuinely love magic 4 House Ipsissmus - New, Mysterious, Not loyal to Cam, Fully Anarch, Based on Secret Society made by Aleister Crowley teachings, they would prob embrace people who are into Crowley style magic so chaos magic people or real magic users like mages and sorcerers (this is all speculation since they are so mysterious) I think the houses MIGHT be expanded in the Cults of the Blood Gods expansion book that's on Kickstarter currently but so much about the Ipsissmus is just up in the air rn.
@@rouxzes there's some debate as to whether or not Goratrix was taken over by Tremere himself after he lost his battle with Saulot's soul. There aren't really many Sabbat Tremere left as Goratrix(or Tremere wearing his skin) burned all of the members in Mexico city, its unclear how many other tremere are in the Sabbat outside of the Mexico city Chantry though

This my favorite Victor episode. Just from the comedy of "I also just leave," to how ride or die he is with helping Annabelle with her injuries, to not leaving Eva to go back alone, to helping nelli's sister with that pendent. Nothing but respect for /my/ Baron.

Anyone else digging that this feels more a conventional radio drama from back in the 80's due to the slower and more narrative nature of the game they've built?
I dunno but I like it either way, it's a nice break from how hectic Critical Role can get XDX
With the show relying more and more on guest appearances it's starting to really feel like a audio drama.
There was still radio drama in the 80s? I thought that went out of vogue way before the 80s. I love the scenes at the end, very soap opera feel, but I still love them. i also love how much they put into looking the part of their character, especially Jasper and Eva. Also the story teller/narrator/GM (not sure what his official title is) is a really amazing actor as well, for example when he plays X there were a couple of times I had to check to see if the character was guest appearing because I thought it was really X speaking, he is very good at a lot of things, but matching the cadence of the voice along with the unusual free thoughts slipped in is really spot on, in my opinion.
@Paul Gauthier Truth be told dude I stopped watching when it was the whole revolving door cast and they were trying to have bad romances. Though the first ones were really good.
@Paul Gauthier a good storyteller or dungeon master controls the story and it feels prescripted to an outside observer. The guest cast prolly has a little bit of a suggested script (do this if someone asks about that, ect) but that's cause they are npc that the storyteller uses to control and push the story.
Jason has this ability to spin all the plates as the players devise and plan. As another Story teller I am impressed by your balance between the "rules and the rolls" making sure the players know what they need but still holding the carrot out in front. Golf clap to you sir.

Eva's floaty movements are wonderful physical acting props. Her actress is wonderful at conveying the mysterious nature of the Tremere. Annabelle seems to slowly lose that naivete.
The Good, the Bad and the Jasper

He said in an earlier episode that his relationship with X is damaged because X now knows Jasper's secrets.
Also Kyoko. Pretty sure he said twice now that he liked her.
I think that for him there is a difference between like and Like. He Likes Anabelle in a different way that he Likes Eva and the way he likes X and Kyoko, seems like another way of liking. It is kinda strange, but it seems to make sense for the character.
@@thorthunderfist3440 I agree with you. It's also not easy for Jasper to admit even to himself that he Likes someone. Losing Chloe must have been some heartbreak for him.

Alex has some insane dice roll luck these past few episodes. That is one god blessed Nosferatu right there.
He uses his willpower quite often. Yes he rolls high, but he rolls on his large pools and using willpower, so not abnormal.
@@ankatheturret Don't forget the beast took him in series one. ALL characters will have bad times so that's why they need to destroy any problems in the coterie and work together. WoD is created/set up to involve tension e.g. clan versus domain; personal secret versus coterie; the coterie needs to find ways of sharing and accepting their secrets and even dealing with the secrets of others as Jasper may soon discover in his own case. Potential allies will be compromised and they need to find ways to avoid this. In a sense they need a "constitution" or core values they ALL adhere to. Ventrue are not to be tempted in betraying any of their coterie by offering them a city. e.g Suppose the "baron" of the Valley was offered LA for getting rid of his coterie? Or offered a boon in his clan for distancing himself from Jasper or someone else ? They need to be clear their first loyalty is to preserving their unity and to work on declaring all possible threats to that. Nelli was forced into admitting something that could have her killed in vampire society. None of the others seem to have such a sentence hanging over them but they still hold their cards to their face. Jasper needs to look after his personal relationship issues for example and to bring in somer arcane assistance on the Labyrinth and accelerate the discovery of the ley line type power in it as well as the arcane architect. He needs Eva to look at the suspended body and needs a map and explanation of the mirrors and to crack the code on the stones.

Right off the bat, he's offered every kindred in the sect a major boon in the form of dissolving whatever blackmail their colleagues might have over them!
And it may also save Nelli’s ass

That's what you get with a troupe that is more interested in telling an exciting story than the usual powergaming. Not easy to find that kind of players in a "normal" setting.

My own V:tM chronicle--in no small part inspired by yours and the new, smooth ruleset--is also coming towards a climactic war several months in the making. I want to thank Jason Carl and the coterie for leading me and mine into a great roleplaying experience. And for sharing with us your own triumphs and tribulations through the World of Darkness. It's been quite a ride so far. (The scene with Eva and Jasper is quite a treat. Incredibly well-performed.)

Um, in the sketchbook recount the wooden stake through Nelli is quite a distance away from the heart. Eva stroking Jasper's cheek and Annabelle is just staring straight ahead with a goofy smile on her face. :3
Correct. If you recall in the previous episode, Carl explicitly states she is *not* under the effects of torpor, just gravely damaged, probably conserving herself.
No but he did say she was staked, and that has to be through the heart I think?
The implication within this setting often implies that yes, the wood has pierced the heart specifically, though that is not what happened during the encounter.
cause she wasnt staked trough the heart she just got impaled on a wooden beam thats why she cried she was conscious the whole time
@@adamsosna7263 To be fair, she didn't cry until it was moved. I *think* Nelli's player may have assumed that's what was going on, or as I considered earlier, she was conserving her energy until she was rescued. I kinda dig the second, as that suggests she's a hell of a lot tougher than expected, despite the cries of pain.
Jasper: 5 successes in catching Jason: That knife is so caught, you can't imagine how caught that knife is Whyyyy! I love Jason's sarcasm when he tells the story. Its awesome. XD XD
It's been a long week, and a while since I've watched LA by Night. Don't really remember what was going where I left off. Hit play, and the first thing I hear is Jasper saying "I'm five years old." *Best out of context quote ever.*

I don't think that particular cliffhanger will result in a new vamp being created. I'm sensing more of a potential hostage or token for leverage. The person laying out the trap is ruthless to a fault.
I'm so glad I found this series, and especially thankful towards Jason and the players, I haven't played VTM in a long long time but LA by night was enough to convince my tabletop group to let me try running a game of it for them!

@@Myrto_ZF Strict Christian schools / church groups will tell teens to "leave room for Jesus" as a way of telling them not to dance too close together or have their bodies pressed up against each other (because that would be too sexual). Here Jasper and Victor are jokingly using the same phrases to separate Nellie from the guy she is drinking from.

I don't usually watch the tabletop shows like critical role, but I love this show and I've watched and liked every episode. This show made me buy the 5th edition and ditch V20 (so great advertising on you guys). Also, Jason Carl is a storytelling demigod.
When it comes to voice acting Jason Carl seems quite accomplished with both accent and capturing various social and cultural attributes.
Yeah, this playthrough convinced me to get V5 too. Absolutely loving this, & I think I will have to start checking out all the other tabletop games on G+S too.

I originally pictured a monocled wizened old man with a cane but now I picture an classically edwardian overdressed large woman with a back on her like a Ball Alley. This show is now my most fave vampire show on the entire planet. Jason Carl’s ability to keep everyone’s action in check at such a hectic situation always amazes me. Also I loveee the casts! Victor’s humor and Jasper’s soft side are my fave part of their personality. Can’t wait to see where will Jasper/Chloe/Eva storyline goes. My heart is wrenching for my girl Chloe💔

I like how Eva's humanity is probably as high as Anabelle's. (and yes, I too am on that ship) Poor Chloe.
The plot armor is so strong for Annabelle.
Falling in love with Eva... hope she stays with in party ! Her face when she hears Jasper is a sheriff...ouch Annabelle need to roll more frenzy checks shes Brujah, she so calm all time. Also Miranda made clear point that shes dont want any Camarillain LA hope we see her again soon )
Annabelle is calm, yet she has the very Bujah passion. And yes, I don't think Miranda will like the "peaceful" negociation with the Camarilla.
Frenzy checks aren't a requirement , it's at the storytellers discretion.

@@dcrose001 also, Erika is already doing a reasonable job organically introducing a fair amount of anti-authoritarian outbursts and the others are giving her a fair amount of room to not be controlled, so the rebellious anarch spirit of her beast having outlets and not being too contained may be helping keep it calmer...at a cost. I don't think we've seen hunger 4/5 Annabelle yet, nor a bestial failure/crit for her yet, so time will tell how long it lasts.
I do hope Jasper gets a cowboy hat.

She like a mix between Luna Lovegood, Galadriel and that vampire chick Tilda Swinton portrayed in that movie .... She's really good though its kinda weird how aloof she acts for a Tremere.
House Carna are the relaxed/chill tremere house. Her behaviour makes total sense knowing what house she is from.
all this brilliant storytelling and acting got me so captivated for weeks, my adult ass waits for the upload in continents away, counting the time difference and watching the show until 7 am in the morning, IN A WORKDAY. props to you guys for all the nostalgia, and as a tiny little side note, please please touch up the audio a little bit and don't let us swing between not being able to hear alex and jason, or bleeding out of our ears at the end with the geek and sundry tune

The Sabbat have not been included to V5 as of yet, so it is unlikely. Thar said, I would love to see some conflict with the Sabbat from Tijuana.

I am going to say that the lady who plays Eva needs to be around more. She is simply gorgeous. And I can tell the character really likes Jasper. I would like to see more develop between the two. And Jasper being uncomfortable with the flirting and teasing is good. And having Anabelle teasing Jasper about it is classic. On a different note, I am working on some fanfic stories, but I do need to do some more work with it, yet It is rough, right now, but thanks to Jason, and the Vamffily, my passion for writing, again, is sparked.

Love this show. I appreciate the way Mr Carl weaves politics into the narrative without forcing anything onto the players or audience. Same goes for the players, everything they do remains in character unless explicitly stated. Thank you and keep up the great work cast and crew.
