Of all the major UFC champs and "elites" --- to use Khabib's definition --- who came from wrestling backgrounds who've gone on to incorporate stand-up (such as boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc but fighters who still are elite in their first craft), Islam has the most fluid, the most natural stand-up. Actual Muay Thai stance is different, of course, because while there's some clinching for knees and elbows, there's no wrestling in Muay Thai, so strict Muay Thai fighters never have the need to develop the guarded MMA stance that MMA with Muay Thai skills have, for MMA. So, when we say "Islam Muay Thai is elite," we mean his Muay Thai in MMA, using MMA rules.... not that he's going to out box or out kick, say, Tawanchai doing strict Muay Thai, using 100% Muay Thai rules... Just like when we say Dustin Poirier has elite boxing skills, we mean MMA boxing skills; we don't mean Dustin would beat up Bud Crawford or Canelo...
