In this video I restore rare Casio Heli-Battle Handheld console. In 1980's Casio better known for their calculators and watches made also gaming consoles such as this Heli-Battle game. These days, they go for high prices on Ebay if they are in good condition.
This is a very basic restoration. AS you can see sometimes it's very useful to remove desolder parts like I did. Because I was able to remove the back of the shell completely and the speaker with the housing it was much more easier to detach the speaker and the battery contacts. But it's always important to make sure you can actually solder the parts back in. Sometimes a part can be so hard to solder back that you want to avoid desoldering it at all costs.
After the console was disassembled I cleaned the parts with soapy water. I had also looked online that the console should be clearly lighter color so I decided to give it the deyellowing treatment. The console was never gray or white like the Gameboy or some other consoles so it won't turn like that in this process. All colors of plastic Yellow but based on my experience besides gray and white, blue and green seem to be usually visibly most discolored plastics, also I've seen pink turn brown many times. Few times I've also seen black turn to sort of dark green color. This process will work to restore all of those colors, however if the original color in the plastic has faded this method won't fix that, it only removes the yellow/brown discoloration. Here is my tutorial for the process: • How to remove yellowin...
I cleaned the board with isopropyl alcohol. The battery contacts were nickel plated again to prevent the corrosion from reoccurring. I also replaced one of the wires going to the battery contacts. Usually negative wire is black and positive is red, like you can see on the speaker. So I know the wire has been replaced by someone at some point. Now it looks like more professional and someone else who might repair the console ion the future will not mix the wires up as easily.
During the assembly also made new glue for the lens from double sided tape. This is a great way to reattach parts that need custom shaped pieces of tape.
Thanks for watching my video!

My dad was an electrical engineer and he used to fix everything on the house, as a kid i often liked to watch him fix electronic equipment like this. He passed away 3 months ago and now I realize why i always liked these videos so much. It's kinda hard for me to watch your videos now, but they mean a lot to me. Thank you.
I'm sorry about your dad, I hope these videos can bring you comfort when the pain isn't so fresh.

I sorry for your dad

"Now it will look like a professional has fixed it." You're too humble, my friend. If you're not a professional, I don't think anyone deserves that title.
Well, professional means you were paid to provide support, it doesn't tell anything if said support was good. Noah was not a professional, while professionals built the Titanic...

Yes, but the big one is an UH-1C Huey Hog

You just unlocked one of my childhood memories, I had this console when I was 6 or 7 years old and I was one of the cool kids at school for having this. I had totally forgotten about it and the moment I saw your video and the game play audio at the end, it brought back some wonderful memories I had in my childhood. Wonderful restoration by the way 😍

Because we heard "Raid Shadow Legends" and skipped ahead to when the ad was over. Thanks for the shoutout to armored ducktor, though, that was great.
@@mjc0961 what should we name him? The Mighty Ducktor?
i never thought the sight of a rubber ducky could make me so happy until i started watching odd tinkering
Every sight is an experience! Let's just say there are only 2 skill you have in your life! 1) is buy electronic part & 2) part is sticking back those electronic parts so old part could be replaced. The uck is just part of recordings! Let say you broken down (uninstall part) a much heavier stuff for instance, an aircorn which a whole lot bigger. So, when you have some cams or tape recorder, in that way, you can rewind back the uninstalling process, for instance on a laptop, so you won't forget the things you've uninstall & reinstalled that later.
One thing I learned about Odd Tinkering is that you need a large amount of Isopropyl alcohol and Hydrogen peroxide to restore old electronics.
Don't forget Hydrogen Peroxide and UV lighting.

_Casio used faint polarizers to boost reflectivity. You can tell by the transparent blue copters. This channel's taught me that circuit boards aren't nearly as fragile as I felt they are. I went from 'I don't want to touch it directly, I might break something' to 'ah, it's fine, you can use an old scratchy toothbrush on this and it'll hold up.' I haven't gotten too good with opening things and trying to fix them yet, but I'll be more prepared for when I get there now.
This must be the most satisfying job ever! Also keep up the good work, man!
Soon Odd will repair the whole world.
Never seen my kitty sitting and looking at a video like this one, didn't look away once, and when the video was over she walked away :D Anyway, great stuff :)

I've never seen a handheld like that before.

They were very popular in the 80s and early 90s...I had this game and submarine battle they were awesome for their time.

This one was special to me. I had that machine when I was a kid. Thank you.
Good to see Mr Ducktor doing his thing again, he’s such a VIP! 🦆👏🏼🥇
So much nostalgia. Kid I've met long time ago on a hiking trip had two of those consoles. Heli-battle and Submarine-battle. We burned through several battery sets, beating each other's high scores over and over again.
Odd: The screen was glued on tightly. Me (loudly to myself): IPA it is.

Gotta love ....."The Ducktor" 😊
Casio made a lot of old electronic games! Some of them were to compete against tiger electronics! Who at the time were big in the old days! Even today you can see that the gamestop near my area has some of those tiger electronics handhelds..
I love these videos, and get that you had to sponsor, but raid shadow legends? Also, are all raid ads required to be long? Love your content!
They ask for a certain length probably.
It's almost effortless to skip it.
