In this episode, Hunter and Pat discuss what needs to happen for the Penguins if they want to make the playoffs on Wednesday and have that game matter. On paper it doesn't look good, but this NHL season has been anything but normal so we shall see. I will say this about Detroit and Montreal, how much did the Red Wings layout to keep their season alive, that could be a factor tonight also. You came back from 4-1 deficit, but now have to turn around and play that same team again less than 24 hours later? Regardless of the record, not an easy task. Plus, it's the final regular season for Montreal, so I think they would love to play spoiler and not let the Red Wings celebrate on their home ice. Also, they do have some young talent as well and maybe our old pal, who's had one hell of season, Mike Matheson can help us out.
Who did the job better: Sting for HHH at Wrestlemania 31 or the Bruins for the Caps last night? LOL
Sidney Crosby had 69 points going into the March 24th game against The Colorado Avalanche, in his last 12 games, Crosby has 23 points over the last 12 games, just about a perfect 2 point per game average. He's done everything he can to will this team, but he needs help. I absolutely think, if the right offseason moves are made, I don't see any reason why this team cannot return to compete in the Metro next year.
I actually feel pretty good about Philly beating the caps who are traveling on the second half of a back to back and aren’t good. Ik Philly isn’t good but they have won there last 2 and are rested. I’m more worried that last night was the game the wings were supposed to lose if the reffs didn’t let them get away with murder

Both calls were correct. Saros was hampered from moving his stick. In the crease, he has the right to do that. In the crease you are only welcome if you are not in the way for the goalie.
That second was too ticky-tacky for me. Looked like Saros initiated the contact with Eller when he was in front of him. The first one I was okay with after seeing it a few times
@@LockedOnPenguinsIt doesn't matter who initiates in tge crease. Saros has absolute freedom of movement there, and if a player in the crease hinders that, it's 100% goalie interference.

I wish. But it’s over for us. That extra point we missed against the leafs. And the point we handed Detroit blowing that lead came back to get us. As I thought they would. Too many blown games this year. The game against Vegas. The game against Colorado. Etc
Even though they came up short of the playoffs, you have to give the penguins credit for this end of season run. This team was too old. They got better with younger players inserted in the lineup. None of the young players inserted are superstars or are gonna be superstars but they played with enthusiasm and desperation which the older players lacked. As far as powerplay goes, it hasn't been good since Phil Kessel was traded away. They don't have a player with that sniper mentality. Something that needs addressed in draft or free agency. One plus they have a small chance to end up with 2 1st round picks. Pens winning the lottery is minuscule but possible and carolina has a really good chance of winning cup this season. Imo. The pens are better then the capitals. Negative 37 goal differential and make the playoffs has to be a 1st.

Loooong time Penguins fan here. Some of the worst, most gut-wrenching losses in the history of this franchise have come at the hands of the hated Islanders. So if the 2 games go our way today, and both Caps and Wings lose, then 99.9% certain the Isles beat the Pens tomorrow and do it to us again. Sucks to say, but I'd rather not give the Isles that opportunity. If the Wings win today and get in, great for them. If the Caps win and get in, I'll deal with that too. As long as it's not Philly that gets in. Worst case scenario: Flyers win, Wings lose, and Penguins lose. Then Flyers get in and I'm pissed at the hated Islanders once again.
I think I'll cheer for the Wings to lose in overtime, so at the very least when the Penguins inevitably lose to the Isles, at least the Wings get in and not Philly.
Don't forget the Jagr retirement Ceremony game against the LA Kings, Pens give up a short-handed goal late and don't even get a point against the LA Kings. This is carbon copy of last year and even of the 12 points they left on the table if you get half of those points, your sitting with 94 points right now, which probably has you in the playoffs.
Yup, another great one. They had a 1 goal lead with not even 8 minutes left and couldn’t even get a point out of that.
@@LockedOnPenguins If anything this offseason, this team needs to learn how to protect a lead, get better at puck possession in 3 on 3 OT, and I doubt Mike Sullivan goes anywhere, as this late season push probably saved his job, but the assistants are another story their jobs need to be evaluated.

@@johnnythunder196 Graves is going to be difficult, because of his contract. The Penguins would have to retain part of his salary probably and I wouldn’t even do a buyout, because that’s a 10 year buyout. The Pens are still paying Jack Johnson’s buyout. Also, see the cap hell the Minnesota Wild are in with the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter buyouts. Trade would be the best option, but it won’t be an easy task.

The Montreal Canadiens are the 5th worst team in the league with 75 points. The Coyotes also have 75 points and are 6th. The Sens are 7th with 76 points. If the Habs simply lose they get a top 5 lottery pick. Why would Habs management even compete? Pens are in trouble tonight. The Caps are 39-31-11 and the Flyers are 38-32-11. If the Flyers win they'll have an identical record to the Flyers. I'll pick the Flyers.
