  • About 4-5 years ago my dad worked in the mines and he worked on a bunch of machinery he worked on big front loaders, haul trucks, bucket loaders, etc. but when he was working on the bucket loader, it kinda looks like a excavater but really big and the scoop is the other way. Him and his crew of 2 had to replace the hydraulics in the front arm so they had to take the entire arm off the front of it and the scoop. They had to do this with the cranes on there work trucks they used one big crane and 3 small cranes on there work trucks. Then once they got that thing off they had to crawl inside a little compartment, my dads co workers went off to lunch break but my dad stayed and kept working, during that 1 hour drive to the main building, 1 hour lunch break, 1 hour drive back my dad got stuck from weaving his way up there but he was not hurt which is good but after that they did all the hydraulics and completed the job. The job took 3 days which would normally take 5. Thank you for reading please leave a like 50 likes I’ll make tons of stories on my channel ty!

  • It's really hard to put into perspective how big some of these are. Even with all the measurements... numbers are numbers. Actually standing in front of one of them would be a VERY different experience. I've been fortunate enough to see some of the smaller mining haul trucks and they really do look like a giant pissed off TWO STORY APARTMENT BUILDING that moves... Also something to take into account is the people that operate these machines. When you have equipment that large and that heavy, operating them without incident is insanely impressive as from the cab of even a smaller haul truck you would not be able to see a full length semi truck and trailer if it were directly in front of you, and due to the weight and torque the haul truck wouldnt even notice it as it flattened it into a SHEET of steel. Honestly my hat is off both to the engineers and the operators of such machines and if I ever had the opportunity to meet and speak with one of them in length it would be a memory I would treasure until the day I died. Hopefully at some point in my life, if I can get my shit together I hope to either become an engineer or a heavy equipment operator and... god willing... maybe someday join the ranks of these historical legends.
