    • For sure!! Despite what your man said, there doesn't appear to be any rust so they're probably made of aluminium. They could easily be fitted with any suitable power plant, and any shafts or drivetrain components could be machined and you're nearly there. That said, I'll just sell some stuff for cash to repair the thing and redo the fitout. 😲 Dang... It looks like I'll need to sell 5 of my Chirons and 3 of my Neveras to get started on it... ✌😎

  • My in laws have had “grandpa’s old car” in their yard unused for 30 years except for the grandkids playing in it. It’s a 1955 Pontiac Star Chieftain, 50K original miles. Literally his grandma drove it to church and the grocery store once a week. My husband had it towed here at the beginning of the summer, he has redone the seats (nothing but old springs were left) and most of the interior was in amazing shape and only needed to be cleaned. Not a dent in the body, tiny bits of surface rust in a few spots -we polished all that amazing chrome, and he has gone through every bit of the engine. He took it for a ride a few weeks ago but still needs to do the brakes ❤️ he keeps his Halloween skeleton in it, her name is Tina. She has a skull in her hands named Ike...

  • 17:41 Not sure why the “Herkimer” can’t be used in other movies just because it’s (heavily customized) - anyone who remembers the movie Space Hunter would remember a vehicle called the “Scrambler”, also a heavily customized vehicle. Still, a few years later the “Scrambler” was slightly modified and reused in an episode of Knight Rider. There is no reason why something similar couldn’t be done with the “Herkimer”.

  • The nice thing is that two countries succeeded to design and operate turbo-trains into inter-city service. Alsthom produced its own with SNECMA engines which were running at 180 km/h between Caen and Paris, Bordeaux and Paris; and last not least New York and Montreal under Amtrack livery. Ghey make such a nice deep jet like noise. I used the three of them myself. Then, a joint project between the Canadians and United Statians did their own entering service in 1968 between Toronto and Montreal capable to run as fast as 270 km/h but only used at 150 km/h as the tracks did not allow faster speeds. The AEC Turbo-train was the first train to enter service with passive tilting allowing the Canadians to take the lead in that technology as 12 years later they would replace them with another train also featuring tilting but now succeeding with the only valid active tilting. Thy used the PT6, a United Aircraft engine made in Montreal and the tilting coaches were made in MLW factories again in Montreal. They also had that driver's cockpit in such manner that they looked like taken from Avro Lancaster bombers.

It was a good movie, but it never reached "cult following" status. My sad reaction was to the fact that a lot of people don't know this movie exists and they have the same reaction of it being "some old movie".

It's a giant military test site where they build and test tanks, rockets and other weapons, It's existence is wildly known, and I worked there briefly in the 1980's. Fun fact: After Chernobel, they sent 50 train cars full of radioactive milk powder there ti cool off for 50 years. Only ten years left...

Also, they look really cool (the front end reminds me of the Seaview from _Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea_ , or the little sub from _Fantastic Voyage_ ). Somebody should have been able to do something with that.

I think it's good to keep at least one working example of historical vehicles, even if it was a rich enthusiast who has the cash to do it, so long as they get the support to get the parts made to keep it in good, working condition.
