I first got my hands on the T5xi 5-25x56 over 3 years ago. It seemed to bad that I thought something was wrong with it. And quickly sent it in for service. When it came back with a clean bill of health I was hopeful there would of been some improvement. When there was non, I was embarassed. I traded that for this to give the line one last chance before writting it off. Happily, the 3-15x50 is a much nicer optic to look through and use. The controls are the same, albeit with a better feeling side parallax on this one. But they are good and acceptable for the rough price point these come in at now ($1000). The only reason why I sold this was 1) I didnt Need it. and 2) Non-locking turrets. If it had locking turrets i do believe i would of held onto it for much longer testing and usage.

I love how the Optika6 sticks around in these comparisons like a midboss that's harder to beat than most boss levels after it. :D
Amen
100% agree with the glass over magnification argument at longer ranges. My brother is an exceptionally good competitive long range shooter, and he still swears by a good fixed 10x.
A schmidt bender pmii 10x42 is still an amazing scope. As are the US optics st-10
Glass over magnification, mechanical function over glass.
I havent felt let down by my SWFA 10x HD yet
That scope is the KLR650 of optics!! @@mrs.vasquezz
When something works, why change it?
I can’t wait to see the t6 review! I very nearly got the 2.5-15 but there were ZERO reviews of the t6 series in general. So I went with the mk5HD 2-10 instead, very happy with it as a hunting optic. But I do still want to pick one up especially for the features at the price I can get it at.
Really wish there was more excitement for Steiner products. And I 100% Can't wait for the next one.
I'm kinda interested in them, but not many reviews
I've not had one yet, but I'm thinking of snagging a Predator 8 if some things work out. That 2-16 looks like it would cover most of my needs. I do wish they made a 1.5-12 or 15, though.
It's the price that really makes me lose interest. Ten years ago the price point made sense, but now with all of the competition I don't want to pay ~$1000 for an optic that I can otherwise get 90% of the performance for half the price.
Amen
Still kicking myself for not grabbing one of these STEEPLY discounted blems when they were about 600
Yeah for that price is silly
Thank you, be looking forward to the TX6i video. Would also like to see a review of the Meopta Meotac 3-12 if possible.
Excellent, just excellently done. Thanks again C_Does! You’ve really demystified and presented scopes review in a clear, objective (and subjective) and logical approach that i’m sure will become the standard for scope evaluations. This review is very helpful. Basically, this scope is good for the money…good value if priced well on the used market. Please keep em coming!
Well said. And thank you kindly
I really love my Steiner T5Xi 3-15 on my HK MR762. It goe me out to 792 yards easily. I could have gone farther. It's been an absolute workhorse. I'm definitely picking up the 2.5-15 T6Xi. But the controls and tracking have been excellent. The glass is very clear and I can see everything I need to to make shots. You do have to dial with this reticle, but the turrets help you not get lost. Overall one of the best optics I've purchased.
Great to hear your good experience with it
Great Review as always. Very excited for the T6xI review seeing I just got the 3-18 w/ msr2 reticle.
How do you like it?
@@CDOES It’s my first optic and I have not had range time with it yet so it’s all first impressions. I’m very happy with the purchase overall. Areas of opportunity : • Illumination bleeds a little in the reticle - This may be normal and I’m just not experienced • Chromatic aberration is present but to be expected • Contrast Verdict: As the 1-6 PST 2 is 90% or more of the Razor HD Gen 2- E, The Steiner is 90% of any optic I could want. Excellent glass, durability, locking exposed dials, locking diopter, 2 sizes of throw lever, great reticle. It has everything I could want with very little left to be desired
Still rocking mine.
Commenting for the algorithm. Keep up the informative videos!
I have a Steiner T6xi 3-18x56 MSR2. Excellent scope, absolutely worth the money.
It certainly has is pros
Thank you for all that you do. Also can you do video showing the SCR2 Reticle. maybe the burris RT Long Range ? or the XTR lll? THANK YOU
Just get the new Leupold Mark 4HD instead. The new ones use the Mark 5 glass and run between $999 and $1600.
Looking forward to the T6Xi video. I have a T6Xi 2.5-15 with the SCR mil reticle. I really like the scope, tracking is spot on and glass is great. I am curious to see a side by side of this t5 vs the t6. My complaints are the weight is a bit high and the 2.5x reticle options aren't as good as the 3-18 that you will be reviewing.
The 2.5-15 would certainly benefit from a custom reticle. Hopefully them come out with something soon
Gr8 stuff 👍 have you had a sig tango 4 ffp 6-25x50 I'd be interested on your thoughts
I really enjoined my T5Xi 3-15. Great glass, reticle, and overall optic. Hate I sold it, but couldn’t justify it in the rifle.
Same here bud
@C_DOES I’m on my hands and knees begging you for the review on the T6XI. I’m looking at that scope, a Zeiss LRP S3 4-25x50, and the ATACR 4-16x50. I want to build a hunting/ 1000 yard rig with a crossover style scope.
Tis gentleman sounds like he knows a lot about scopes.
Love to see how arken scopes would compare to these
First off, I just found your channel on my search for a scope and I’m going to subscribe to stay updated on your content. I’m looking for a scope that I can use for hunting and long range target shooting. I do hunt in the woods, but I will also be taking shots out to 300-400 yards while hunting. For target shooting I’d like something that I can take a 1000 yard shot with if I wanted. My budget is a max of $1500. What do you recommend? I prefer quality over features, and the rifle is a Tikka T3X if that means anything. I’ve actually never shot out of a scope. I use iron sights for everything I do right now.
Hunting scopes and target scopes often have features that conflict with each other. Are you okay with a heavier scope on your rifle for hunting? Most target scopes are very chunky so make sure you are. People think they are until they have to hump it around all day or struggle to hold their rifle for an awkward, unsupported shot. Put a 2 lb weight on top of your rifle and walk around with it to see if you're actually okay with it. $1500 is a huge budget. You're going to find a lot of good glass at that price (and even great glass on sale). I would look at the scopes that C compared this one to (he'll have video reviews for them all) and go from there. Look for reticles that make sense for what you're doing and for the love of god don't get something without locking turrets. I had that bite me and I'm pretty sure I lost a deer because of it. You're probably okay with a 3-15 or 4-16 magnification range for those distances. The more magnification you get, the more you're going to have to pay for good glass at the top magnification ranges. Cheap 5-25 and 6-30 scopes are not good.
@@Ascendant7Justice Thank you for the reply and all the good information! You’re right, I don’t want anything too heavy. The Tikka is a super lite model, and I’d like the scope to compliment that so that I can have as light of a hunting rifle as possible within reason, while still being able to take a 1000 yard shot for fun if I wanted to. The 3-15 range seems like a great range for doing that. I’ll take your word for it on the locking turrets.
@@Ascendant7Justice I also forgot to mention that I’d rather not buy anything made in China.
Vortex Razor HD-LHT 3-15×42 Under 20oz. And can still use it from the bench. Trijicon and Tract Toric also make scopes that would fulfill requirements: great for hunting, can shoot long range, under $1500, not made in china.
Any plans on looking at a Juliet 4? People say the FOV is better than an ACOG
Any chance that you will take a look at the primary arms GLX 6x magnifier?
Hii, can you review about S&B
Would like a review on the burris XTR III 3.3-18x50!
How about doing one on a Primary Arms 5-25x56 with Athena Reticle?
does it not bother you that the reticle is shifted to the right? i had a 10% error on mine as well, annnnd the parallax literally didnt work, it wasnt just off, it straight up didnt work, so i sent it in for repair, and still a 10% error, reticle was still shifted to the right, annnd the parallax still didnt work, i sold it, n got a nf. sorry steiner is the most expensive trash ive ever purchased.
If glass in the same product line can be of different optical quality at the same magnification range, could we maybe see this test repeated with other products? Looking specifically at the Mark 5 5-25
A buddy is waiting in his mk5 5-25, maybe one day that will get showcased here
Does the T6XI improve on the chromatic aberration?
You'll be finding that out first hand soon.
@@CDOES outstanding, and thank you for the quick response. Do you have an ETA?
This reticle reminds me of the one in the xtr ii. Pretty sure Burris and Steiner are both owned by beretta. You can get a 3-15 xtrii for $499 right now with this reticle. Anyone have experience with this scope?
Yes Beretta owns both. And a few other companies I know of: Sako, Tikka, Stoeger, Benelli, Norma. I’m sure there’re others as well.
@@stevennewman4778 beretta only imports Sako products
Featureset is the main difference. And potentially where each one is made
We need the t6 video like yesterday 🫣🫣 I’m about to order one and want to make sure it’s the right choice 😂
It is coming
