Welcome to this weeks episode of Heavy Metal History. My guest is Zak Vargas from the now defunct band Elysia. Zak came on the podcast to talk the 18 year history of the bands debut album "Masochist" which is currently getting a remaster
eissue treatment on May the 10th.Zak took me through the entire history of the record track by track discussing each song as well as their timeline with demos and other songs. We discussed how the reissue came to be over the past few years and what led to it finally being released. We also discuss a lot of the lyrical themes and even breifly touch on "Lion of Judas" and the bands break up.

The remaster came out perfect.
Killing Grounds is equally as great. Please remaster that too! And do cds with the OG cover! They’ll sell out QUICK.
Elysia is the best deathcore band. Also ABACABB and Forgetting Tomorrow are behind them.
10:47 - love the rifles at recess shout out. Still listen to that album pretty regularly.
Impressed by his All Out War shirt. Their brother band End Of One was one of the earliest deathcore bands.
Awesome podcast! This band was one of my absolute favorites back in highschool and it was super exciting to find out about the re-issue and the vinyl/merch and stuff. Grabbed myself a hoodie and somewhat regretting I never grabbed a vinyl. Thanks for this interview! I never heard Zak talk about the band before, and it was super insightful and he seems like he's happy with the legacy the band has left. Hoping for a reunion someday.
Thanks so much, I try really hard with these interviews so i hope youll check out stuff in the future or even go back and listen to some old episodes!
My wife and I’s first date was Elysia/KOTA/Impending Doom and Molotov Solution. Show was a banger
Nice! I toured with Molotov and Impending Doom way back in the day.
