    • +wiremessiah Haha agreed. If it wasn't for Graham prompting and saying 'it can't be good enough' and 'to learn it at that age', I would've struggled to fully understand Matt's sentiments (and Matt would've struggled articulating himself without Graham's prompts). But completely agree with original comment about his class; a very thoughtful and deep man.

  • What I love so much about the Graham Norton Show is that it gets the best out of all of its guests, and they always have incredible chemistry. Sometimes it feels like the only talk show where people are actually relaxed and having a good time. And this is one of the most genuine and heartfelt moments in the history of the show.

    • Olivia Smith I think it's largely due to Graham being a comedian, he's very down to earth so he'll ask questions very honestly but understands where not to cross the line, and his sense of humor brings the best out of every topic of conversation. I also love that he doesn't sit at a high desk, and rather sits at the same level s his guests, that shows modesty.

The way he very gently steered everything (made some jokes to up the audience and then kept matt Damon going with the story like the little suggestion pretending he didn't know the whole thing about matts mother). I think his skill is felt subliminally in the flow of the conversations He doesn't get enough credit.

  • Graham, seeing your dynamic with the guests on your show, and how genuinely interested you are in wanting to hear their stories and letting them be themselves is an amazing talent. You have the gift of patience, listening, and empathy which honors those who are your guests and also showcases your talent as someone who knows when to listen and when to comment. You allow them to express themselves, and you also know when to interject or to find a funny picture or meme or comment, and you don't overshadow them. Well done, Mr. Norton. I love your work and have been watching your show for years.

  • One of the things I love about Matt is his humility. I'm really glad that he stays grounded even after all the success that he's achieved in his career. And I guess his mom is one of the secrets to this. She did raise a good son, indeed. 💙

  • I remember the first time I saw this clip, years ago, and how I was so excited to hear that one of my favorite films and actors was shared by Mr. Damon, and being so shocked by his mother's response. I was so unprepared for the obviousness her response revealed about that statement, because I had suddenly been made aware upon hearing her response, immediately aware of how right she was, and how I'd never seen that before, because of my love of that film and the romanticization with which I had always viewed the film. It had always seemed so perfectly appropriate and acceptable as a statement to be made, right up until that exact moment I heard Mr. Damon state his mother's response. I was quite stunned by how I had missed that truth entirely for so long. Amazing.

  • I feel like anyone wanting to "make it" in the industry should watch this whole clip. It's good to pursue your passions and work on your art, clearly Matt didn't give up acting after winning. But keep a good head on your shoulders. Don't chase glory to fill a void.
