  • The thing is, Devon knows more than anyone that he unfortunately has mortal limits. He physically can’t hope to match the side pressure and bicep strength of Levan as someone who is 15 years older and 100 lbs lighter. Especially now that he is older, trying to put on the pure size and arm strength he would need would just lead to injury and other health problems that would end up working against him. So if anything he should be proud that his training in the hand paid off and that at the very least he held the beast and made round one a spectacle. Love you Devon !!

    @jeremie_collier@jeremie_collier22 күн бұрын
  • I think the problem with all of this speculation about how might Devon beat Levan in the future is that it's just not realistic. Devon had to already become a chemistry experiment for the last 4-6 years just to hang with the super heavy weights. He went crazy with it for the last 2 years after resoundingly losing the first time, only to get himself to the #2 position and still end up one-sidedly slaughtered by Levan. He'd have to maintain his current status as a walking pharmacy just to keep what he already has, and go even further to add in the necessary side pressure to *maybe* beat Levan. The level of gear he's already on isn't really sustainable at any age, let alone a man pushing 50. I think the reason Devon looked so defeated after EvW 12 is because he knows he's not the guy to beat Levan. It's going to have to be someone else, who is younger and has more health to sacrifice.

  • A lot people triying to lowballing Levan, you missed the fact Devon destroyed Ermes' back pressure with a press after he took his wrist, so this actual Levan can destroy Ermes back pressure as welll, more still knowing he learned about that experience, improved overall, and opened Devon's arm with his insane pronation in the fisrt round. What I want to say is actual Levan has no weak points now. He can press anyone, he can hold anyone, he can side pressure anyone, he can top roll anyone, he can hook anyone without lose position or hand control.

  • You can only pronate as far as your elbow and shoulder allow it. Pronation is the twisting of your forearm bones. When you lean over and your hand is in a pronated position it requires strength in your pronator teres to hold the position. To pin in a top roll you must lean your body over to carry through with pronated position. Leaning over basically is moving your humerus over with the strength of your shoulder to allow the elbow to pull your pronated forearm along with it. If the shoulder strength isn’t enough to bring your pronated forearm with it then you will open up towards a supinated forearm position. In short, shoulder moves elbow which allows isolated pronation to follow through. Top rolling should not be trained with isolated flexors.

I think Devon relies on his technical knowledge of the game and beats people by cutting them off from their power through the hand and wrist. Dave was able to open Ermes multiple times and beat Laletin with his side pressure, while Devon dominated him in a hook in round 1. I thought what Devon lacked was back pressure or bicep strength. • After analysing the match many times, i think that Devon's only chance was to flop-press in round one just before levan did. Btw i think if devon didn't get a foul in the setup, he might have had a chance because in the restart of round one, levan would still have the buckle on his side and devon might have gotten another stop. I believe that it was actually pretty close, and if devon would have gotten a restart in round one, the match would have looked completely different.

Or atleast protected his arm angle/shoulder position better. Laying out for that kingsmove destroyed his arm. He needed to stay up and fight harder for center before Levan flopped. At least we would have seen a longer fight. Maybe Devon thought he could bleed him and wasn’t expecting Levan to flop round 1.

    • @@Dmgolfer22 Or.....or.....he couldn't because its not like you think and Devon had no advantage there other than to hold. Let off the gas any little bit to move his body forward and that arm was probably going sideways. Thats the most logical reason I can think of that he didn't attempt it. Then before he had time to make up his mind, boom flop press out of nowhere.

    • @@topnotchtsi yeah when Levan was actually going side. But there was a few seconds when Levan wasn’t going side just holding and thinking. Devon’s face in that moment wasn’t one of 100% redline. At the minimum he probably should have protected his arm/shoulder angle more anticipating a potential flop. Or just let it go once Levan flopped then round 2 do the same but with more shoulder commitment. I personally think we could have seen a longer fight round 1 or a good fight a couple of rounds atleast if Devon’s arm didn’t get fully stretched in a kings move. Getting pinned is okay as long as your with your arm. My $ is still on Levan but holding onto that press trashed Devon’s ability to apply backpressure IMO.
