Morel mushrooms are fruiting early this year. Will it make for an extended foraging season? Here is a summary of morel mushroom conditions with general guidelines for hunting the regular US timings for wild morels by zone. Wild morels occur in almost every state. They can be unpredictable at times but they have a known preferred fruiting temperature they like the cool spring days and nights between 45 - 70 degrees.
That tick is freKig me out, lol.
Was a real tick I recorded after i pulled it off during my morel hunt. Sorry to freak you. Ticks are scary for sure! I'm freaked to have to face them again this season like I do.
I live in southern Indiana. Been finding mushrooms for 2 weeks now. Last weekend the big yellows started to pop up. Will nice if it extends. Last year it came early as well but ended before May.
Good luck !
I lived in zone 8b, and now with global warming, they changed it to 9a! "Earliest morel season on record"... Pretty soon I'll be able to grow citrus!
I've been getting frosty cold nights after the initial warm-up, slowing down the growth. I hope it all goes well for you.
I haven’t found a single one here in Marin county CA, it’s been hot lately too and only a day or two of rainy weather this month. Feels like we skipped spring and went straight to summer!
Interesting. It must be a beautiful place to morel hunt where you are. Bummer if it got too hot too soon. Maybe there's still time. Good luck!
Found 20 of them around my burn pile outside Portland, Oregon
Awesome, sounds like a good spot. Found my first 26 morels today but it took hours!
Saw my first one today in south central Indiana (Morchella esculenta)
That's exciting. After this day or two of sudden cold passes it should be perfect next week. I was just looking at Indiana's general weather. Good luck!
This video was freaky but on point. I've been foraging in upstate NY for 20+ years. I've only found morels a handful of times. But my chantrelles are a guarantee. Has anyone ever checked apple orchards for morels? I'm new to putting out my own videos on KZhead, and I loved the creators originality. I've got a couple of informational videos up and one rap song about foraging.
Thank you. I am tempted to morel hunt apple orchards because they can be plentiful, but then I avoid foraging areas that are contaminated. Morel mushrooms growing in old apple orchards that have been treated with lead arsenate may accumulate levels of toxic lead and arsenic that are unsafe for humans to consume. Good luck!
Where is the upper peninsula of michigan on your map
Yes, I have been finding tiny morel Mushrooms in Pennsylvania but the deer ticks are really bad this year 😠😔
Yes. In fact the ticks in this video were the actual ones I pulled off and filmed ! Good luck.
I can agree. I checked my early spot that always puts out black morels and they were up march 14th in east Tennessee. No yellows yet....😢
Aww, sorry. Interesting season though. Maybe there's still time to try again for those early ones. Good luck finding the yellows!
@@SporeTownNews oh I'll get em!
I jear in northern GA we getting alot, i have to fin one, must be looking in wron spots or just not seeing them
I haven't hunted in Georgia. Perfect time to. Good luck !
Why does your map of the United States not include the Upper peninsula of Michigan???
No reason. It was just a basic map graphic to show 3 morel regions. I didn't make the map. In hindsight I wish it showed that detail and more into Canada's morel territory too. Thanks :)
Northern oiho up all ready
That's exciting! Hope you find some beauties :)
I just found one in Central ohio about an hour ago it was tiny
Better early than late :)
Found 5 N.E. Arkansas
Awesome!
I dont why but those mushrooms looks scary lol

Would love to get to WV. That must've been a thrill to see.
@@SporeTownNews there's no place like it, for me. alot of hills, "most people call the mountains" to walk when hunting morels but I love it
We didnt get chit in WA, yet...🤞
Good luck!
