The mycelium is the actual organism itself, while the mushroom is just the fruiting body. It’s the equivalent of plucking an apple from a tree.
Yes
I just had to explain this to someone because I was keeping some of the stem butts to try to grow them. Someone said that kills the mushroom and I told them you need to get educated before you form an opinion on something you know nothing about LOL
Thanks dude. I watched this 2 hours before finding my first ones!
That's awesome! Glad to hear it helped!
This was an excellent & very informative video. I agree with a almost everything except with the black morals I have anecdotal evidence they do come up from the same root bundle (mycelium) every year if there is enough moisture & warmth. My personal belief is a mesh bag might drop some spoors, but you need to leave @ least a few mushrooms in the woods to complete their life cycle or your spots will give you fewer & fewer until they quit producing. Foraging guides tell you for all wild harvesting to leave 1/4 to 1/3 of what you are picking to propagate more.
Thanks!
Spot on tutorial. I'm from NW Mo, and we have very similar habitats. You described how I've hunted morels for over 50 years. You've made old and new rooners job a lot easier. Well done.
Appreciate it!
One other tip. On the way home, after harvesting the morels, you get very hungry thinking about your upcoming meal. Remember this, be prepared and drive carefully. Thanks for the good video.
Very true haha
Thanks for sharing this great info! Here in the Carolina’s, I try to follow varied elevations to extend the season.
Great video, very informative!
Thanks!
Great mushroom hunting video!! I've watched a few recently. Yours is the best

I am a newbie to the mushroom and I could not imagine me not sharing homeopathic information to everyone 😂
Awesome video!!! Thanks!!!
Happy to help!
Great video! Learned a lot!

Good video, always wanted to go hunting for these
Give it a go. They go great with some crappie.

Good luck!
Great info on Morels. I found one 2 weeks ago whilst on holiday in Slovakia. I left it in place. Now I'm back in UK and looking but cant find any. Maybe a bit late in the season now. (12 May)
Thanks! I'm not familiar with European morels but it could be too late this year.
Holy Doodle did I ever learn lots from YOU. Had no idea about the time or the short time frame or temp, and the lilacs. Where where to look. Watched lots of vids last year and there were a 1` out of 10 compared to your 10. Thank you so much and cheers from Alberta Canada. If I finally find at least one I will get back to you :-) P.S. never seen one in my life but know they are in my area.
Appreciate it! Good luck!
@@HighPrairieSportsmen Thank you
I had really good luck looking where a tornado went through!
Nice! Didn't even think of that
This was excellent! I am new to the Topeka area and everyone here is such 🤬🤬🤬 about where to find them! I appreciate your information
Thanks! Good luck hunting!
Very nice video. I prefer mine battered and fried with a side Skillet of crappies fresh from the the ponds or lakes. A king's feast I say, a kings feast!
Thanks! Hard to beat the spoils of spring!
I see alot of those False Morels in disturbed areas, like after a RX burn. Crazy looking!
Yeah they are
Great video! What’s the easiest way to ID an elm tree when morel hunting? Most barks to me look the same lol
Thanks! I'd say to carry a tree ID book. Eventually you'll get an eye for it.
ive never gone Morel hurting. I imagine after this week of rain in NE & the weekend being warmer it shouldbe a good chance to look for some. Do you have any location suggestions within an hour or so in/outside the Omaha/cb areas
We're pretty late in the season now unfortunately. Douglas and Sarpy counties have had a lot found in them but I can't say where. Check out Nebraska Morels on Facebook.
I don't know what a rutt or a crick is but we do have rooots and creeks here in Kentucky 😄
What are rooots and creeks? 😂
@@HighPrairieSportsmen 😂😂😂
Hi, like your video. So you say the morels move up hill so does that mean early on the low areas are warmer? Thanks
Yep, the bottomland and south-facing slopes will warm up first
@@HighPrairieSportsmen so why does bottomland get warm?
@@gofflion Could be a few things. Soil types, terrain, vicinity to water and likelihood to be wetter, etc. Can't give you a definitive answer on that
Just remember that’s not always true, at night the cold floods down into the valleys, and some valleys stay dark so they don’t warm up as fast. I rarely find them up high myself, usually only low moist areas
What do you think the outlook is for morels in Central Kansas with the dry weather we've had the last year?
Without rain, it's going to be rough.
18!!
😂
Lol I meant I was the 18th to watch it
How many times I pulled my shirt to use as a bag.
Got to do what you've got to do
How far west have you found them? I have had blacks in Montana
I've found them in the Panhandle before. Heard they grow all the way to the Wyoming border at least
@@HighPrairieSportsmen thanks I always wondered. None here near Amarillo it’s enough to make you want to move
@@Swygard no problem. They across most of Nebraska in the river bottoms
Im from nebraska we should go shroomin i found three yesterday
Nice!
Do you sell any of them morels
No
How do we know there are not poison
If they're hollow, they're good to eat.
Greys turn yellow when they get older usually they don’t pop up they grow like everything else in the world
👍🏻
Do u sell any of them
No
Second
So close
first
😎
You didn't address the types of trees to look for. That seems quite important.

Yes, he did.
