  • The mycelium is the actual organism itself, while the mushroom is just the fruiting body. It’s the equivalent of plucking an apple from a tree.

    • I just had to explain this to someone because I was keeping some of the stem butts to try to grow them. Someone said that kills the mushroom and I told them you need to get educated before you form an opinion on something you know nothing about LOL

  • This was an excellent & very informative video. I agree with a almost everything except with the black morals I have anecdotal evidence they do come up from the same root bundle (mycelium) every year if there is enough moisture & warmth. My personal belief is a mesh bag might drop some spoors, but you need to leave @ least a few mushrooms in the woods to complete their life cycle or your spots will give you fewer & fewer until they quit producing. Foraging guides tell you for all wild harvesting to leave 1/4 to 1/3 of what you are picking to propagate more.

  • Spot on tutorial. I'm from NW Mo, and we have very similar habitats. You described how I've hunted morels for over 50 years. You've made old and new rooners job a lot easier. Well done.

  • Holy Doodle did I ever learn lots from YOU. Had no idea about the time or the short time frame or temp, and the lilacs. Where where to look. Watched lots of vids last year and there were a 1` out of 10 compared to your 10. Thank you so much and cheers from Alberta Canada. If I finally find at least one I will get back to you :-) P.S. never seen one in my life but know they are in my area.

  • Hi, like your video. So you say the morels move up hill so does that mean early on the low areas are warmer? Thanks

    @gofflion@gofflion3 жыл бұрын
    • Yep, the bottomland and south-facing slopes will warm up first

      @HighPrairieSportsmen@HighPrairieSportsmen3 жыл бұрын
    • @@HighPrairieSportsmen so why does bottomland get warm?

      @gofflion@gofflion3 жыл бұрын
    • @@gofflion Could be a few things. Soil types, terrain, vicinity to water and likelihood to be wetter, etc. Can't give you a definitive answer on that

      @HighPrairieSportsmen@HighPrairieSportsmen3 жыл бұрын
    • Just remember that’s not always true, at night the cold floods down into the valleys, and some valleys stay dark so they don’t warm up as fast. I rarely find them up high myself, usually only low moist areas
