fun fact, rahul is the voice of the ultramarine in the new boltgun game. so yes, he is in fact the rahultramarine
wait HE IS?
Had a feeling that was him when I saw the name on The Bird App...
Is he? That's pretty sick. Glad he got to try the game.
wow this is actually true
I hope he comes back and he fields the the mini he made of the Boltgun main character 😂
Rahul is such a nice guy. I loved his acting in Bly Manor and Midnight Mass
He's also got a fantastic comedy side too from the old Funhaus crew. Sundered is a solid go to video.
He is great in iZombie
I always forget he's like an actual actor.i just always associate him with funny internet stuff
He was truly phenomenal in Midnight Mass.
Midnight Mass is such an underrated gem
I hope they do another episode with 2 brand new players. It’s good to see how new players can approach the game.
As a new player. Videos like this help a lot. Tutorials are fine but seeing things in practice with some explanation is so much more informative.
yo, bro :D same profile pic! Nice choice!
@@parsath_2584 I'm still hela confused lmao
Rahul's dice rolling is a mood
Its fitting steve is his coach🤣
BIG mood.
23:17 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for doing a stripped down, beginners game. Being primarily a lore fan (I admit to having a small terribly crafted primaris space wolves force though) often times I’m overwhelmed by BR videos. But in this vid I think I’ve actually grasped more of the tabletop than any other “how to play” video I’ve seen. Thanks for this.
The hope is by watching this people could enjoy watching our battle reports more!
@@PlayOnTabletop man I wish there were any battle reports I enjoyed as much as you guys. Shame there's no AoS
Every game of 40k is for beginners......too simple. So stupid just watching the players roll dice. This game has a fanatical core player base but most wargamers laugh at this child's wargame.
A bit gutted that we didn't see them complete the game, but they had a plane to catch. It's nice Steve taught Rahul absolutely everything, including his dice rolls (or was that Mubin?)!
Marines would have been gutted by the tyrant, you're welcome ; P
@@terminarothebest I mean't the two newbies. But thanks 🤣
My daughter loves to paint and while she's still a little young for the actual game, I gave her a few spare termaguants that I had and she instantly fell in love with them. Her uncle saw this and got her a Hive Tyrant for Christmas and after we built the winged version, she spend hours flying it around the house making munching noises.... XD Not sure if she has the patience for a Batrep yet, but I'll bookmark this one for the future to be sure. :D
Ty for the mental picture of a young girl and her 'Nid, zooming around the house... "Monch monch monch, Nom Nom Nom." The terror to house pets and younger siblings everywhere.
There's something so cute yet terrifying about a little girl being obsessed with a ravenous hivemind alien monster.
@@philliplarose8570 Chogath approves
Oh man, that is so adorable xD
Very wholesome
The real first Warhammer game experience, not having all your models so proxying whatever you have to help.
10th edition preview 😅 As someone with 3000 points of painted necrons and has never played a game, I thank you for this project.
Same, 1500 points of painted Krieg
As someone with a whopping 6 or so games under his belt with 2.5k of Krieg, the sentiment is shared xD
You are not alone! I too have over 2000 pts Necrons and have yet to play my first game.
Ive only got 200 points of 1500 sisters of battle painted its nice to know there is a lot of people new to the game/hobby
I've got about 3k-ish of UM successors and 1k Custodes, similar boat of 6-8ish games ever lol
This was so good. Despite all of the warhammer stuff on the internet, very little actually shows you how to play the game. Games Workshop should be paying you for this.
They are both such nice people and a joy to watch.
Please have both of them back...soon. Would love to see their skills grow.
I really enjoyed this series! I'd love to see something similar once 10th drops!
Me too!
@@PlayOnTabletop I'm now holding off on my 1st game for 10th to drop, so anything you do for us scrubs will be very appreciated. 😁
As someone who first learned to play with ultramarines I can relate to the crestfallen look on Rahuls face when he got charged by the hive tyrant. That's why I play space wolves, now I'm the one doing the charging
Imagine giving someone the SMCP box and telling them to fight the TyranidCP box for their first match. Might just be my opinion, but the SMCP is hot garbage, Phobos units never fare all that well in my experiences.
This was genuinely brilliant - made the game a lot more digestible. Rahul and Rebecca are both class acts and Nick and Steve were great teachers. Makes me excited to play more!!
OH MAN WHAT A TEASE IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR DAYS AND THERE'S STILL ANOGHEER DAY TO GO! So eager to watch their fight unfold!!
i wanna see them come back at 750 pts and play a full game
He finally did it! Hooray Rahul! Have fun my dude.
Rahul, if you hate rolling maybe Chaos Marine Flamers could be your new best friend. They auto hit so you’re just rolling for amounts of hits and then to wound, plus you get more hits from your friends here in the warp.
Rahultramarine!
I'm loving the little animated special effects to show shooting and psychic attacks and so on. It's a nice little visual touch that helps keep the viewer engaged with what's happening.
Rahul was hilarious with all the Funhaus guys, good to see him play 40k!
Great video. Played 6-7 times now with my bro and still found this insightful especially to clarify some of the basic rules. Love the channel.
33:37 I thought the Hive Tyrant was on the other side of that objective at the end of Ultramarine turn 2? That was the whole point of moving the Suppressors there; to hold the objective but not allow a heroic intervention. Casual game, so doesn't really matter, but it would be points the Tyranids don't score that turn.
Now, we need this video with each factions hahaha
As an actor, love him. As a wargammer, love him even more. He even got the sweat right!
This was an incredible series you did - it's right up there with faction/army showcases to encourage both the hobby side as well as the gameplay side of things. I hope we see more - especially with the new edition on the way!
Becouse of all of previous videos about them starting their armies i was really hyped for this episode! And it was worth hype.
Not going to lie, watching this game towards Turn 3, I suddenly got hit with a blast of nostalgia that I haven't felt since 5th edition Warhammer, watching MiniWarGaming Dave and Matt play a match. I don't know how else to say it, but thank you guys! I actually felt like a little kid again for a few minutes. Time to go back and finish painting my Krieg ;)
Lots of fun to watch especially while painting a Royal Warden, thanks for this I enjoyed it very much.
Great great great works guys! You are a huge credit to the hobby! As someone new and getting into the hobby (at the painting my models stage), videos like this are just what a new player needs and could ask for. With the new 10th edition coming it would be a great opportunity for an introductory series just like this with the various new starter/ box sets a new player can pick up and see how best to use their new box set in their first games. Love what you are doing, hope to see more. Thank you!
This is wonderful to see, so much of this is what I needed to figure out, many thanks for this tutorial series!
Ah a follower of the Wah - hammer
@@FioEl54 maybe I should do wah-ranids, really stick to the theme
I recently started my own Tyranid army, and this series has been incredibly helpful, and will be even more helpful in the near future. GO BUGS!
I wish I could figure out what to paint mine from leviathan. Working my way through the marines but I can’t figure out a scheme for my nids
@@Cyd99 I still haven't got a Leviathan box yet, though I definitely want one. I had an idea for a gold and white paint scheme. Basically the Hive Fleet Leviathan colors, but gold and/or yellow instead of purple.
Man this was a banger to watch, haven't played for very long, like maybe a year now, and man this video taught me alot that I missed or didn't understand, also playing with Nick would be such a joy to experience
Wait?! Ravi?? Holy shit! I just finished that show it’s so cool to see him playing Warhammer on play on!!
Would happily watch seasonal updates on how Rahul and Rebecca fair in their first year
Steve forgot to tell Rahul those infiltrators could have used both smokescreen and helix gauntlet on the turn they got killed:)
They Could have indeed. But as stated at the beginning, we were not using any stratagems aside from the core stratagems to keep things simpler.
Really, i think not putting the suppressor shots into the tyrant 7s v 7t and using that lieutenant for wound rerolls to potentially dodge the charge (slower via damage chart) and then overwatch to keep the chance up is the big missed move. The other termies would take back the vacated objective anyway
@@Aargo999 there were a lot of misplays that Steve should have been guiding Rahul around. Eliminators hit on 2+ not 3’s if stationary. Should have been spending more rerolls on failed saves earlier. Focus firepower on big bugs that are dangerous. Steve is too used to 2k games.
Really don't feel like those Boxes are equivalent Considering the Flyrant is way better than a lieutenant and an Impulsor. GG.
Watching new players helped me understand how to play so much more than any other video. I havent played yet so still in the learning phase. Please do this again!
I love seeing new players learn the game! I would also love to see more of their journey. :)
I love this series so much. DO IT AGAIN!
This series was awesome! I hope you all do more like this in the future!
This was amazing, I've always been interested in 40k(I'm a man of russ) but always thought it was very complicated and difficult to learn. Being able to watch a step by step, round by round breakdown was fantastic. Keep this series up and going.
Really enjoying the slower beginners battle pacing and info. I always get tripped up remembering exactly how to roll during the shooting phase after only playing two matches with a borrowed 1000Sons army.
Thank you for putting on this series! I've only recently re-entered the realm of Warhammer games, picking up the Recruit set and a Phobos Kill Team. I've got them painted, but haven't played yet, this video will lead to that change!!
I hope Rebecca and Rahul become regular players on this channel! I love their starting journey
Rebecca will be back for sure. Rahul is back in Hollywood but if you want more of him he is the voice actor for the upcoming Boltgun Warhammer 40k video game
@@PlayOnTabletop Thank you guys so much! I wish rahul goodluck, and as a little request, can you feature iron warriors in an upcoming battle report? I think it would
I kinda wish they had filmed this with the partially painted and the unpainted models Rahul and Rebecca built. Shows a more realistic entry into the game for new players
Rahul was only available for the one day before he was leaving Vancouver. It definitely would have been awesome to see more of his progression
"GG as the kids say" killed me Rahul! :D :D
bro that Tyrant is a freaking beast of an HQ
This was fantastic, I actually am painting my first 40k army, use to play Fantasy 10 yrs ago. This was super helpful thank you > had to go with Orks
These beginner plays are so much fun to watch!
Glad they both had fun with their first game. Rahul's dice need to go the gym though lol.
This series is really good!Need a sequel!
It’s so awesome to watch new player start off a first game this is super helpful
I've always wanted to learn to play. But it's always seemed sooo confusing to get into it, with all the rules etc. But this was a very good batrep, for a newbie like me. Thanks for both the easy-to-follow explanations and to Rebecca and Rahul. 😌
Essa pequena sequência de vídeos foi muito boa pra jogadores que ainda não jogaram seu primeiro jogo (como eu). Parabéns pela iniciativa
Good work both Rebecca and Rahul. Hope to see more of both in the future
Love seeing new players! Keep up the good work guys.
Literally assembling my first units rn and as a newbie this is great content!
Re-Roll Rahul. should be his new name. use those command points! on the grenade that would have been super helpful
Really enjoyed this series, this looks like a great simple way to get into the game, combat patrol lists and nice simple rules. I used to play as a kid in the early 2000’s but haven’t played since. This sort of game appeals to me rather than the really complex games with loads of strats and rules.
I'm really excited to see what they do in a year or so. What they play what they collect what they paint etc. Hope you'll come back to those two or keep up with them exploring the hobby
Absolutely the best mini series to date. I hope this goes down well as I would love to see it repeated with some other factions and newbies. 🎉
This was incredibly informative for someone who has never seen the game played before. Thank you.
This looks so fun I have never played and always wanted to ! Once I get into it I’ll be referencing to your videos haha
this is amazing, thank you so much for this series
As a noobie myself I’m happy to see this battle and learn as much as I can from them and the team
Inspired. Encouraged. Starting my first models soon. Have a box of Fireteam here, but never dared to actually do the models. Thanks guys. :)
TANK YOU ! finaly a game i can complete follow along!!!
I'd love to see this series for other games like Malifaux, Star Wars Legion, or other smaller games!
honestly I feel like this combat patrol game is a really rough match up. No real answers to that Hive Tyrant. And Whilst I do rate infiltrators and Eliminators, I think the rest of the box is really lack luster, mean while the Tyranid Combat Patrol is imo one of the best. Idk about competitively but as a casual player I think all of the Tyranid box is actually really quite good barring the Rippers, and they are like 45 points and have some use as little objective grabbers. I've been playing for 6 or 7 years as Marines and even against a brand new beginner I would feel pretty intimidated by this match up
Wow, thank you very much for this nice tutorial! Best i have found so far!
As a new 40k player (as of last month!) this series has been amazing, I've got so many great tips that I would never have picked up from just reading the core rules and the codex. I'd love to see Rahul and Rebecca return with those box sets painted and ready to explore more faction rules, stratagems and missions.
Both players are great! These videos are great for helping me learn the game. Keep up the great work!
The Hive Mind Hungers… Well done, Tyranid initiate Rebecca!
So cool! I first learned of Rahul with his shenanigans at the Funhaus channel. Then he did an amazing job as the sheriff in Midnight Mass along with other shows as well. And now I find out he's a VA for Warhammer and played it??? Truly the coolest guy ever
So nice seeing newer players like myself play and ask the same questions i did over the last few weeks. This was easy to keep up with :D
Rahul looks really excited, enthusiastic and happy to be playing
Just want to say Nid Nick is just amazing at explaining the game and his moves, good job dude!
DUDE! I was so excited to see Rahul!
sent this series to my friend. im still relitivly new to the game, but this explains how to play way better than i could!
i hope both rahul and rebecca come back! rebecca's quest to destroy steve must be completed!
"GG, as the kids say", - was just too funny for me. Im under my tableXD
would love to see more stuff like this. As i and a few friends who mainly do TTRPG's this is helpful getting use to all the WH40k jank.
For a brand new player like me who is gonna use ultramarines just started building my army I’m also gonna build a separate army of imperial fists cause I love the lore. But this is incredibly awesome to learn how to play with the tips and tricks
As someone who just started getting into war hammer. This is very entertaining and informational.
I honestly hope that they get incorporated in the player rotation for future 40ks in 40 minutes. Would be fantastic to watch them grow as players.
Extremely helpful. Thank you.
This is epic I’m just getting into the game and am hooked !!!
I really do appreciate the mechanics talk during play. Having not played before, it helps me understand the gameplay better. Also, it is nice to see the Tyrranids win for a change. 😆
I was inspired to start an army
As an inexperienced player, this (including the deployment phase in the previous video) is probably the most entertaining and informative battle report I’ve seen
I hope you have them on as guests more often. Be a good mix of ability and experience and I enjoyed watching their game. 😊
This was really interesting. Definitely a big learning curve on this one
Great game and Battle report. would have loved more descriptions of what is happening thematically in the battle. like with the weapons that fire D3 times. describing them as doing 'relentless blasts of thunderous energy at the enemy' that can help new players use their imagination and visualization to the dice rolls and mechanics. as most of the time its was 'roll 5s' 'roll 3s' spend those CP Rahul
Rahul looking over after rolling a 1 to save at 21:10 and losing a Eliminator was great. I felt that to my core!
Rahul's dice rolling is a mood. They are both such nice people and a joy to watch..
Nick - how did you show Rebecca where to put her Big Bug to do a charge and then let her ignore her round 1 melee phase?
As someone who has never played a game of 40k, this was incredibly insightful. It's cool seeing the amount of tactical options that's easy to miss when you're not a veteran.
Was so sad that Wayland games doesnt ship Warhammer models to the USA. =/ would have liked to purchase some kits.
This makes me so hyped to play. Need to finish my army!
