How to install AMD Threadripper 3970x? (Ft. ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme & Noctua U14S)
This is an AMD Threadripper 3970x installation guide.
If you would like to know how to set up your AMD Threadripper 3970x and ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme (or other TRX40) motherboards correctly, please watch till the end of this installation guide! But first of all, Gordon (@typhoonsystems.asia) and I would like to thank Asus Singapore again for lending the ROG Zenith II Extreme to us. Now that we have an AMD Threadripper 3970x, we are finally able to power on the ROG Zenith II Extreme. If you have not watched the Zenith II Extreme unboxing video, please do so in the link below! Second, this guide will teach you how to install an AMD Threadripper 3970x into the ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme, put RAM in the appropriate slots, how to apply Thermal paste and set up your ASUS BIOS.

i wont give an 10/10 for anything, there's always a room for improvement for everything. I also like the Aorus TRX40 extreme. But I would not be able to give a score on it :)
Good video ! Thanks. Can you please comment on PCIe slot 1 being blocked by the Noctua U14S. From the video, I cannot really determine how bad is the blockage/clearance. Will it render slot 1 to be totally usable?
Hey Matthias, the clearance is still ok for a blower 5700XT GPU which we used. But if you were to use a GPU with a thicker heatsink, like the Amperes, you may run into issues with the Noctua. If we ever have this board, we may test it out. Hope this helps! And thank you!

@@RealMelTan ASUS Strix TRX-40-E Gaming. So far no issues. It was a happy medium in terms of price and features.

I did the same recently. But with a water block instead of a air cooler.
How are the temps? and which brand of water block did u use?
@@RealMelTan I used the EK waterblocks full nickle one. Temps are great, never happend to be over 60 degrees. I have two GTX 1080s in the loop too. I got two 360mm slim rads with noctua nf12 black swap fans in push config, so it also stays quiet.
@@waldmoos That is quite an amazing setup! Which case are you using? And are your GPUS water cooled too?
@@RealMelTan Yes. In a one loop setup: res > gpu2 > bridge > gpu1 > rad2 > cpu > rad1 > res.
