  • Peter Gade has many virtues of an athlete, insistence, hard-work as well as his persistent pursuit of perfection. I am not saying that LCW and Lin Dan or you name it don't process theses virtues, but the virtues glitter brightly when one has to come across so many failures without tasting the height of championship, though his hard-work makes him well-deserved one. All the athletes work damn hard, and I cannot help feeling sorry for those who never make their way to their aspiration.

I still think it's very interesting what he has to say. And he is always fair, also giving Dan credit. Personally, I prefer biased commentators to boring commentators.

    • @@devvaswani7909 That may be. But you know as well as I do that LinDan has been defeated by Lee Chong Wei. So I introduced the idea that LCW is also only extinguishable by time knowing that people would say things like "LinDan basically wins every time they meet". "Basically" means that it doesn't happen every time. Therefore LCW has defeated LinDan just not as often as LinDan has defeated LCW. That said it proves my point that LCW could and has defeated LinDan. Though I have to admit. I saw your comment yesterday when I was sober but as I type this I am drunk. Also, I was likely drunk when I wrote the original comment. So good call. I just love LCW. In a friendly, manly, heterosexual kinda way of course.

  • They say "You can't compare era's" I'm sorry, there is no player that was able to keep up with Lin Dan from 2007-2011. He was so fast, so powerful, had the perfect touch, unbelievable net play, and basically "invented" the diving defense that everyone loves. They may not be able to compare era's but I will. There is no player that has ever played better than Lin Dan in his prime, and we may never see another player like him or Chong Wei.

    • I actually regard Taufik Hidayat in his prime as the best player ever concerning technique, deception and domination of the game. Just watch how easily he gained advantage if he just wanted to between 2003 and 2006 also against players like Lin Dan an Lee Chong Wei. And they surely weren´t just beginners. Later he lost motivation.

      @acadepedia@acadepedia6 жыл бұрын
    • acadepedia I somewhat agree, his technical skill was possibly the greatest we’ve ever seen, and his footwork was extremely efficient. But Lin Dan’s badminton IQ is too high. He is one of the smartest players to ever play the game, his ability to control the rally is incredible, he has great court vision, and his anticipation is probably the best. In his prime, he was also very explosive, and this let him dominate the game with not only skill but also power. His mental strength is also so strong because he almost always pulls through in the most crucial moments, which is why I think he is the best all-around player of all time.

You do not blame Morten on this commenting work because apparently, Lin is the top dog and Peter is the challenger in this match. It is a blessing you can have Morten as the commentator for badminton matches, I always enjoy his work. And Lin Dan only gave his 70% in this match that is true too. But to all my Badminton Lovers friend: PETER GADE is a legend just like Taufiq Hidayat, LinDan, LCW, Victot.. They made us all fall in luv with this game. A defeat can not justify the caliber of a player. And someone did pointed out rightly in the comment section. LinDan is just slow in this game. He can go way faster. 😊He once smashed so hard that the shuttle dissapeared and was found in 15 th century record and the game of Badminton was born. That shuttle was LinDan smashed shuttle 😀😁

    • I agree. I think it has a lot to do with the quality of the tools i.e. but there is no denying that Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei have forced everyone to raise their game. Don't get me wrong Peter Gade {Pronounced Guille in his language - or close to it - not GAEDA as the female commentator says) is the shit. But he didn't evolve his game style. Of course in this game he is 34 but Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei both watched him play before they were pro. So they got to see what worked and what didn't. I don't know.....What I do know is that for someone to say that one player is the best of all time is ridiculous. The game evolves as each generation pushes the limits of the generation before them. That's how it gets better and faster.

  • Although there are players that can play more technical than this nowadays, there is no denying that there aren't any players out there that are as far ahead of the curve as Lin Dan from 2007-2013. He just played at a different level when he was at his best versus any of his competition. LCW definitely had the physicality and the skills that Lin Dan possessed, but Lin Dan still played at a higher overall level back then and there is no one these days like that.

    • More technical? Who can play like Lin Dan now?

    • @@Starrynova Momota technically for sure. Explosiveness, Lee Zi Ja, Ginting is WAYYYY faster than Lin Dan ever was. But there’s no denying that Lin Dan was the best at putting it all together back in 2007-13

  • Wow...I thought Gade was just about trick shots and good sportsmanship but he's quite impressive physically too. He's putting up a good fight against Lin Dan (ecept 2nd set) when he's in his mid 30s lol.
