Thanks for the great tutorial! Just getting into building slingshots, and this will be very valuable information once i start messing with flat bands. So far I've only been playing with tube style bands, and although powerful, i can see that the potential is there for much better performance. Anyway thanks again!

Thank you for the excellent tutorial! Just made my second frame and used this over the top grooved fork method. Works very nicely and with an oiled ash and walnut laminate this slingshot looks awesome. Your tie off techniques video was absolutely perfect. Thank you!

You get an incrementally longer draw and some would argue more consistent shots. As stated above, there is no wrong way, but it is generally regarded that banding "over the top" with the bands attached as shown, is the preferred and most functional way to attach the bands.

All personal preference. Low wide forks are often preferred for shooting large, heavy objects. High and skinny are often found on slingshots that shoot lighter bands and light ammo.

hi! I have some spalted wood as well as mahogany and I wondered what kind of nice lamination I could make. If I don't sell it, are you alright if I copy your design for myself? You've put it together very tastefully as always!

You can easily make a wooden slingshot by yourself, it's would be easier if you found a natural fork on a tree branch. That's what kids at my village does when they want to make a slingshot.

@Rumor5279 Zip ties are easy and strong, but don't allow for tuning and the sharp edges where the tag end gets trimmed really chews up your bands. Then there is the problem of getting them off without a tool like a knife or snips. It becomes very easy to damage your slingshot with a knife getting these off. Using rubber bands takes a few tries to perfect, but once you do, you can change bands quickly and easily without tools.

To each his own. There is no wrong way to band a slingshot, but there are better ways. Today's top shooters band the slingshots as shown and if you are after top accuracy at ranges beyond 10 yards, you should give it a try.

dumb question, can you use a small zip tie

Nice Tutorial. Is this method strong enough for heavier bands...like for example a bandset with 40lbs drawforce?

@OssastoriumDoDs I do not use polyurethane at all. Either a penetrating oil/wax combo or two part conversion varnish.

The slingshot has little to do with accuracy. Proper bands and ammo along with a good marksman is what makes a slingshot accurate. Give a good shooter any slingshot frame with good bands and ammo and he will shoot it well. It is all personal preference.

+Aja Void This method is extremely secure and the standard way to attach flatbands to slingshots. However, one should take care to follow the directions to the letter.
