    • Yep. Police in Tennessee we’re confiscating cash (as little as $1000) from travelers on westbound highway 40 claiming it was suspicious and making it difficult for the victims of their racket to get it back. Ethnicity had nothing to do with it. Ethnicity may have had nothing to do with these U.S. bank stories. But, local news wouldn’t cover a story like this if the victims were white. Media loves any story, true or false, where they can imply it happened because the victims were black.

  • I am a white, Conservative man. I was married to a Romanian woman who looked Hispanic. She had an account with US Bank. After she and I divorced, we've stayed friendly to each other since the divorce (I was even friends with her new husband). Prior to her marriage with a doctor, she was always broke. She was short $400 on her rent, so I wrote her a check. Rent was due the next day. She called me from the bank explaining they would not cash the check and would place a three-working day hold on the check, even though she still had my last name. I arrived at the bank to show I not only had written the check, but I had cash to deposit for her instead of the check, so "Give us the check and let her deposit cash". In the past, I would deposit cash into her account, and it would be instantly available for her. This time, however, the manager said the money would not be credited to her account until the next business day (not counting Saturdays)... this was a Friday and rent was due by Saturday or a late fee charged - yeah, she was horrible at finances - but the only difference was, my ex spoke with a thick accent and looked Hispanic, so that money got held until Monday. This was 14 years ago and I still burn with rage when I think about US Bank and that day... now that I am seeing all these "Banking While Black" videos featuring US Bank, I can attest that "Banking While Not White" must be their corporate message, for even people who don't seem to be WASP appear to have trouble with that bank. My ex is doing quite well today, she got counseling on financial matters and no longer has trouble keeping her personal balance in the "plus" side of the balance sheet and she also no longer banks with US Bank. To hear that US Bank is still pulling this crap just steams me to no end. Someone, please sue them out of existence! I know for that to happen you will have been treated like dirt, but sue them into bankruptcy, please!

  • I closed my account with US Bank last year as I experienced this type of discrimination. I attempted to withdrawal a large amount of funds from my account and had to wait over 30 minutes as the branch manager kept making numerous calls. I asked what's the problem the money is in my account. I verified the money was in my account by logging into the US Bank app. I even called US Bank customer service line and confirmed the transfer had cleared and the money was available. The bank manager used some excuse that he had to call to confirm the transfer had been completed and he needed a special code number to verify the funds had been transferred. Nonsense. My advice; leave US Bank alone. They even froze my account saying they needed to investigate where the large deposits were coming from which was my brokerage account. Everything perfectly legal. I went through a vigorous questioning session before my funds were unfrozen. I closed out my account and will never bank with them again.

    • What they’ll do is to shell out a few dollars to a black school or non profit to get people off their backs. Then they slide right back where they left off. I bet they kiss Jay and Beyoncé’s butts and other famous black people. But I think they don’t like that so they take it out on someone not so famous. Look at the worst racist Karen videos - what industry are they in? Financial. You see, they truly don’t want black people to have financial equality. That would upend their entire system.

  • There was a similar video in UK of Greek person trying to draw money out, the bank refused to pay out. The family filmed themselves arguing with bank staff. Despite having a high court ruling ordering the bank to unfreeze the account the banks threatened to call the cops on them and told them to wait while admin verify the high court ruling. The banks can pretty much block your transaction any time they want then you customers have to take the bank to court to dispute the bogus anti fraud policies used to freeze accounts. Spanish banks are the worst for doing this. They have the nerve to lecture customers why they are taking out so much cash from their own account.

Right after 9/11, the bank would call the police because they thought we were quote “funding terrorists”. • US bank sucks royally, closed my account there over a decade ago but my mom still banks there. I went to deposit $30 in her account one day, got a teller that didn't recognize me. Demanded my ID and actually CALLED MY MOM and spoke with her boss, before depositing the money! Since when can you not deposit money INTO someone else's account, an account in which your completely authorized to do so? You have to show ID (which they held for 10 mins) and call the account holder first? Have deposited money in plenty of bank accounts over the years, ones that were in no way associated with my name..and never went through that. She opened a new account at a different bank and only uses US for minor things now, as a sort of backup account. I closed my own there initially because I had nothing but problems, furthermore they tried to say I owed them $200 for a check advance that I had paid off over a year prior, when I closed the account. I showed them what I had stating that it was well beyond paid off, walked out without hearing what the manager had to say. Never heard from them again.
