  • This guy did a pretty good job, he took a seized up engine and made it run. There were some things I would have done different but all in all good job@

  • A valiant effort but just another have-a-go chancer who could do with some mechanical mentoring. Yes it runs but the balancing shafts were not aligned correctly hence the vibrations. The way he handled the valves and bearings leaves a lot to be desired too.

    • @@davidhamm5626 if they were he didn't notice. I'm not convinced he knew what they were for - especially after witnessing him completely winding off the rocker adjuster locknuts. A bit of gear but no idea...

  • The water leak, that showed when you started it, needs to be fixed. Maybe missed a gasket / seal of something?

  • some rust disolvant such as WD 40 or PB Blaster would be great for those rusty bolts and nuts. Still very good restoration. Thank you for posting.

  • Definitely an A for effort. Realistically I’m pretty sure it won’t last that long due to reusing critical components that strictly needed reconditioning. Well done though for making do and getting it running again 👍🏼

  • Looks great, I’d have gone with an off white for the water and fuel tanks but that’s just me. I wish you would have shown the process of cleaning up the cylinder and whether you used new rings or not, but you made junk into a useful engine again. Really wish I could get my hands on one of those in my country

  • Very nice restoration. It is incredible that you still can find parts for this old machine, like the head gasket. I am sure it would be impossible to find a head gasket for an old machine like this, where I live in Norway :). Excellent work, I am impressed

  • I see chrome sockets used ,there are black or dark colored sockets that are especially designed for impact use on HD impact tools . They are harder than normal chrome ones and are made harder and more robust than the others.

  • Same electric hoist both ends of the collection. Bearings hammered in damaging balls and surface. No new piston rings ?. Good clean up though. Another video earning good money, well done lads.

  • Reusing bearings is a bad practice. They do a lot of work in making engines run as smoothly as possible, and loose their tolerance from all that hard work, and get sloppy. As dirty as that engine was inside, that engine needs new bearings to make it last longer.

  • The engine will be kept for a few months and then they will dirty it and throw it on the road and as always the title will say "I found a diesel engine in a river and I restored it". Most of these restoration videos made in vietnam have this same type of script.

  • Did anyone notice that they used the exact same hoist to load and unload the engine? Did they roll the hoist from one location to the other? I don't mean the same type of hoist, but the exact same hoist. Stop the video at 1:10 and then again at 2:32. Look at the marks on the lower frame piece and at the bottom of the upright pole along with several other scuffs and marks. Maybe they only needed to move the engine a short distance. Just seems kind of odd.
