  • Herr Kapitan- you have truly elevated the craft of cockpit videos. Instead of useless fill and scenic videography, you give us WHAT WE TUNE IN FOR! Your concentration on flight path, energy management and handling procedures are an artform. You have figured out how to deliver substantive content for the Airbus enthusiast and I for one remain obliged. Please keep on keeping on, with your particular blend of camera work and attention to detail. Your discussions of flight management and MCDU manipulations are particularly salient, and appreciated. There is plenty of rubbish on YT.... your content soars far above. Gross Danke!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words and the very detailed feedback about the channel! It is great to hear that you like the details of the videos! I try to put all available information in the videos. Sometimes, I have MCDU recordings, sometimes not. I still try to find a good camera location to record the MCDU during the flight. But due to the limited options in the cockpit, I did not find a good solution until now. Please tell everybody about the channel! Thanks in advance for your help!

It's a kind of promotion for your airline money can't buy. Your channel should also be a good therapy for all who are feared of flying. Watching the calm an professional handling of these big birds should give some confidence. Always clear skies and tail winds! (Exept on final approach. 😎)

    @torben.a330@torben.a330Ай бұрын
    • Vielen lieben Dank für die sehr persönlichen, ausführlichen Worte und die Unterstützung des Kanals! Wenn meine Videos dazu beitragen können, die Entscheidung für den Beruf des Piloten zu treffen, freut mich das natürlich sehr! In der Schule sollte man, wenn möglich, Physik, Mathematik und Englisch mit Interesse verfolgen. Das hilft später in der Pilotenausbilldung. Auch vorherige Erfahrungen im Segelflug oder privatem Motorflug helfen. Ich empfehle einen Besuch beim örtlichen (Segel)Flugverein. Viele Piloten, die ich kenne, haben dort ihren fliegerischen Werdegang gestartet. Ich bin nicht oft in Hamburg. Das letzte Mal war ich dort Anfang des Jahres und wir sind bei extrem niedrigen Wolken ab- und auch wieder angeflogen. Deshalb habe ich kein Video aufgezeichnet. Beim nächsten Mal werde ich ein Video aufnehmen, auch wenn das Wetter wieder schlecht sein sollte. Das kann aber noch etwas dauern, da es von meinem Dienstplan abhängt. Ich wünsche alles Gute und hoffe, dass wir uns in einigen Jahre im Cockpit sehen!

    • Thanks for watching and for your support of the channel as a member! In general, sometimes audio may be missing in the videos. Most of the time it is due to technical reasons or for privacy protection. This video is a "real realtime" video. The video is 100 % complete from the briefing in LYS to on block in DUS. From the almost 1 hour 30 minutes of audio only about 35 seconds are missing.

  • Exceptional video. Great to see the whole flight including personal chats when in cruise. What was that showing on TCAS near the opposite end of the runway as you were coming into land? It appears to be below ground level and flitting around at quite some speed.

    @cactusbase3088@cactusbase3088Ай бұрын
    • Thank you so much for watching and your great feedback! Interesting to see the TCAS altitude showing something below the ground. Maybe that there was an equipment test of another airplane going on or so in one at one of the Dusseldorf maintenance facilities.

    @aykutoner@aykutonerАй бұрын
    • Thanks for watching, your good feedback and your question! Thankfully, the airlines which I worked for and which I work for now invested a good amount of money into the maintenance. So failures are very rare. Small things break once in a while, but usually nothing important. And: All important systems are installed with one or even two backup systems. Even if we usually do not see failures in the airplane, we train them in the simulator on a regular basis. Rejected takeoffs are also very rare. I never had to do one in real life. Only in the simulator.

    @familiekoopman2005@familiekoopman2005Ай бұрын
    • There are some prerequisites that may require IGN. Heavy rain is one example. Depending on the airplane, the IGN may be on automatically with engine anti ice on or so. Even with the switch in NORM. Right now, we do not call out the selector position. We call whatever the ECAM screen says. In the future this will change. Then we will call the selector position.

One question always boggles me when I see the rudder check: Why does the FO announce the rudder position when the Captain is checking his controls, but not there is no crosscheck by the Captain when the FO is checking his controls? It would seem logical to me to do an aural crosscheck by announcing what you see on the PFD for both.

    @clairegrube429@clairegrube429Ай бұрын
    • I would hazard a guess that it’s because on the ground the F.O is pilot monitoring so he does the call outs and the Captain should be focusing on taxiing . I’m sure the Airbus system self diagnostics which I believe takes 2.8 seconds . Some airlines for the checks in random orders and some do it in the order that is recommended and some airlines do it silently. (I’m not a pilot and this is just a guess )

      @The_Devil_Riser@The_Devil_RiserАй бұрын
    • Thanks for watching and your good feedback! The flight control check is done in accordance to the Airbus procedures. The pilot flying moves the controls and the pilot monitoring is telling what happens with the controls. Reason for this is that Airbus also allows to do the check during taxi. And when taxiing, the pilot flying shall watch outside and not on the flight control system page to see the movement of the controls displayed. As the pilot monitoring is not taxiing the airplane, he or she can do the check by him or herself looking at the flight control page. We use the Airbus procedure for the check, but usually do not do the check during taxiing. Also, on the ground, the Captain is always considered pilot flying because he or she is always taxiing the airplane.

    • Ich fliege die Airbus A320-Familie. Also Airbus A319, A320 und A321. Unser Typerating, die Typenberechtigung ist auch gut für den Airbus A318. Für andere Maschinen benötigt man ein separates Typerating. Da Airbus-Flugzeuge alle sehr ähnlich sind, dauert die Umschulung auf den A330 oder A380 nicht sehr lange, wenn man bereits eine Airbus-Typenberechtigung hat. Umgekehrt ist es genauso: Ein A330-Pilot, der einen A320 fliegen soll, muss auch eine entspechende Schulung machen. Manche Airlines lassen nach entsprechenden Schulungen ihre Pilotinnen und Piloten zum Beispiel auf A320 und A330 fliegen. Das nennt sich dann MFF oder mixed fleet flying. Wir haben nur A319-A321, deshalb ist das nicht erforderlich.

    @Ellipirelli69@Ellipirelli69Ай бұрын

    @zaiivonhest@zaiivonhestАй бұрын
    • Thanks for watching and your good and helpful feedback! Sometimes we keep the seatbelt signs on because we expect turbulence which is shown on our forecast charts. This information is known by the cabin crew. We do not punish somebody who needs to use the restroom. But we tell the passengers who want to use the restroom during turbulence that they should not do it and better wait until it is smooth again. We also tell them that a use of the restroom will be on their own risk. If they use the restroom and something happens on the way it will be their own responsibility. Usually we have no problems with this. Our passengers are very friendly and understand all this and remain seated with their seatbelts on.

The volume is the same on both and there is too much overlapping noise. Thank in advance. Best regards.

    • Thanks for sharing your feedback and for your request! The videos contain the original audio from the cockpit. The audio you hear is exactly the same what we hear in our headsets or in the cockpit loudspeakers. For us it is also sometimes difficult to find the right balance between the ATC audio volume and the volume of the interphone. Right now, I am unable to change this in postproduction. @nicocoot8384@nicocoot8384Ай бұрын
    • Good question! Usually, we would like to do a 3 degree descent with idle power from the cruise altitude to about 1000 feet above the runway elevation. This is a very efficient way to fly the plane. To accommodate this, we have to calculate a descent point. We can do this in our brain or / and get help from the flight management system. The flight management system takes the descent wind into account and shows us at which point it recommends to start the descent. It only works well if we have entered the real arrival routing and approach. If the entered routing is longer or shorter than the routing which we will later get, the calculation will be wrong. If we fly to non-busy airports, we usually have to ask for descent clearance and can fly along our precalculated idle descent path. If we fly to busy airports, like London or Dusseldorf, ATC usually tells us to descent early due to other traffic in the vicinity or due to the structure of the airspace.

    @michaelfischer545@michaelfischer54526 күн бұрын
    • Gute Frage! Flugzeuge haben eine Lenkung am Bugrad. Sie ist mit dem Seitenruder gekoppelt und wenn wir in die Ruderpedale treten, können wir das Flugzeug nach rechts oder links steuern. Verkehrsflugzeuge, wie unsere Airbus A319, A320 und A321 Flugzeuge haben zusätzlich einen sogenannten Tiller, ein kleines "Lenkrad" welches sich jeweils neben den Sidesticks befindet. Mit dem können wir ebenfalls das Flugzeug am Boden lenken. Der Tiller ist notwendig für "scharfe Kurven". Wenn es nur ein paar Grad nach rechts oder links geht, reichen die Ruderpedale aus.

    • It depends on lots of conditions and there is no fixed pitch value. The goal is that the descent rate is reduced during the flare in a way that the rate is very close to zero when reaching the runway surface. Maximum pitch during the flare is 7.5 degrees for the A321 and 10 degrees for the A319 and A320.

The pilot monitoring has his hand at or near the stick because the push to talk button for the radio is located at the sidestick.
