O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu) is elected Head of the Council of all the yakuza bosses. Tanaka, one of the Council’s members, objects saying that she is half American and not fully Japanese so she beheads him instantly showing the rest of the members that she is the one in command.

Four years after taking a bullet in the head at her own wedding, The Bride (Uma Thurman) emerges from a coma and decides it's time for payback... with a vengeance. Having been gunned down by her former boss Bill and his deadly squad of international assassins, it's a kill-or-be-killed fight she didn't start, but is determined to finish.
After awakening from her coma and discovering with horror that she lost her child, the Bride starts to plan her revenge, by choosing O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu) as her first target. She travels to Okinawa, Japan, to meet legendary swordsmith Hattori Hanzō (Sonny Chiba) and asks him to make her one of his unrivaled swords.

    • @@Doodfist I keep seeing these complaints in similar videos and I just don't think you realize that it's an FCC rule regarding profane language, so any company that broadcast content available to the public are subjected to these rules. Hence, they bleep out the swear words to avoid being fined. Blame the people who forced the passage of these laws governing profane language, rather than whining about the broadcasters.

That's why O'Ren makes a big deal out of Beatrix claim of wielding one and the shock of seeing his emblem on her sword , why Ellie went out of her way out to kill Budd and retrieve Beatrix's Hanzo sword .

  • This is a great scene. She reacts without hesitation or reserve, but not by losing her shit. Quick, calm and lethal, nothing wasted. But her speech after works in many ways. One point she is making by defending her heritage, making it a topic forbidden for discussion, is that 'I don't give a damn where you came from or what is in your past. Any member of this organization, who serves this council first and foremost, is welcome and valued.' Eliminate the troublemakers, and that sort of attitude could earn a GREAT deal of loyalty.

But it can also be presume that she respects and greatly admires a powerful leader who is strong honorable knowledgeable with her subordinates yet very capable of brutal and merciless treatment towards them should even one of them step out of line even just once like Tanaka did... Otherwise I think Gogo would lose respect and loyalty for Oren ishii and regarded her as a weakling unworthy of those two important things should she let the insult from her subordinate to her heritage slide like that.

  • The absolute most unbelievable part of these movies for me is not Pei Mei standing on a sword tip like he weighs nothing, or the amount of blood spewed from bodies when dismembered, or the heart burst technique, or anything like that. No, the most unbelievable thing for me is that Beatrix casually had her sword NEXT TO HER. ON A PLANE.
