Love this: “With my posts I shape your world. With your posts you shape mine. In this hyperconnected world, our digital habits have a long term impact on ourselves, our society and our planet.”
and that's WHY I DELETED MY INSTA. it just makes me depressed and anxious
same here
Mine is Facebook
Same here!
Same with me....I just deleted my Instagram
Same I deleted it today
Got off fb in January 2019, and never looked back! Social media is tearing society apart at the seams.
Popularity fest is what social media is about and it has always existed in school systems, popularity fest is what motivates child and teen suicides!!! Satan really is The God of this world!
I feel social media addiction comes from lacking healthy relationships with people in real life.
This is so true. U got me thinking now
Honestly I got too the point in life why do I wanna give people who don't care to socialize with me on a day-to-day basis permission to look at my posts or photos?
No, they create addiction because they are addictive. Nothing more.
@@r.j4449 yeah this is more logical
@@r.j4449 you are close minded thats not good
I’ve been off of Facebook for a year and a half now. Never going back and I’m upset at myself that I waisted 8 years of my life on that. No more though, NEVER AGAIN.
Chuck Adams Me too
I’ve thought of getting rid of mine but I need the messenger app bc I have family out of state and that’s the only way of keeping in touch with them . Can u still have messenger without fb?
@@joymorris7775 You can by deactivating your account. If you decide to delete FB completely, you can use Messenger aswell, but you will need to add contacts on new. I use first option :)
I deleted the app but it’s had no impact. I’m an addict, I use safari and go on Facebook and Twitter everyday. It’s like crack. Trying to quit and break the cycle instead of debating and posting.
Mate same as me, except id been on it for 11 years! Life is so much better without it, and privacy is a virtue in today’s world
The reason why people are toxicating on social media because they're trying to find connection while their real life is not going as they wish. It's normal. we all need to connect. we all need someone or some people to be with. so as long as we see people are being addicted to social media, we should give them a care, love, conversation, and attention, wether it's in virtual or real life. because that's what people need. to connect, understood, and heard. we all do.
So true. Agreed. Insta id : @charismatiqq
Popularity fest are 1 of the greatest cancers to this world and it exist in school systems and social media, popularity fest are 1 of the greatest motivators of child and teen suicide. Satan really is The God of this world, I don't care what a blindsided atheist might say to try to debunk my statements and I love atheist whom are moral.
@@VoidDweller86 Preach!
@@wawanwardhana1920 I don't ever want to be famous because there are many souls of people who hate me as it is, worldliness is a nature of Satan's hatred to those who are perceived lesser.
@@VoidDweller86 yea i heard you. Being famous is also really vulnerable. You know when youre suddenly not what other people expect you to be, they start becoming so judgemental.
There have been a few TED talks about this subject and after having watched a few of these, I do see a pattern in what is covered and not always does something new emerge. The one line here that jumped out me from this talk that I felt was quite thought-provoking was the bit around understanding the motivation behind a post. As someone posting piano covers online during 2 months of quarantine (and I am guessing a lot longer), I battled with this idea of being narcissistic - and that posting these videos online would be an avenue to indulge narcissism. In reality, I do want to connect and to belong and that lies at the heart of this endeavor. I like that she suggests not to dismiss someone's post as narcissism. That post is probably a plea to be loved or to belong. I have to admit I never really thought about it that way.
I agree re the narcissism comment. There is always a reason.
@@fleurybea10 that being said, there is a possibility that some of those posts are purely narcissistic but I think painting every post with that label is probably quite uncharitable.
Basically looking at them with compassion
@@amg0788 Compassion and a little curiosity I guess.
That "two lists" idea is simple but brilliant. I am going to do that right now! It's amazing how easily we confuse things that make us appear sucessful to other people with things that make us intrinsically happy just because. The two are often poles apart and most of us spend too much time chasing the former and neglecting the latter!
I deleted all of my ANTI-social media (Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter) in January 2021, and have not been back since. I missed it for about ONE DAY!!
How did you do that because I keep coming back and it sickens me again.
"I was staging my life, and I was rewarded for it."
Deeeeeep message man
I think the problem with social media is the unholy interplay between 2 factors: first, it's designed to orient you toward your audience. There's this constant pressure to play to the audience, conform to their desires (perceived, algorithmically determined, or real). People feel compelled to force fit their content to what they think will capture attention with. That's fine on its own. The second factor is that the content is supposed to be 'you'. Social media feels like it's about individuality, self-expression, "sharing" your thoughts, feelings, and adventures with people who care about you. The imbalance of those two things ― creating a persona to perform for an audience on one hand, and sharing yourself with people on the other hand ― is pulling people apart.
Yeah, the talk is amazing. A topic that must be brought to the main stream, so We can solve social media addiction. She is beautiful! The way she talk, move and her voice... damn. It's very very rare that some lady caught my attention like this. Beautiful lady and very smart!
Thank you for sharing your experience. If we take a step back, social networks are the current context, but we can also apply it in a more global way, that's what it inspires me... Let us stop wanting to behave as we would like others to perceive us, but let us have the courage to put forward our needs and act accordingly. "If one day I became what I am"...
I think that uninstalling the apps is a good start but it won't work unless you commit to change, after all it's quite easy install them again. I tried that by myself. By the way I did a simmilar research and I just posted it to my channel, in case someone wants a different point of view!
Delete your account
Using social media to help with my social media addiction
Thank you so much! Writing out those two lists are my next thing to do.
Yes, social media can be a toxic thing.. we all agree on that. But some people putting themselfs on a throne for not using social media and feeling better about themselfs by judging social media users is also toxic and bad. 'Live and let live'
Its true. They feel more real. A testimony is there to help somebody see the other sign of the coin. It can be healthy to self reflect . if you are offended by it. Even you know its true. The Internet in general. If its not limited. Can really be or live a false life. Limiting and leaving social media other than youtube to watch speeches for health like this.lost a ton of weight. Got away from fantasyland
Talking to people these days has become a real chore it's almost your invading someones valuable time or crashing a party .
Sam Fitt Social media has actually destroyed real face to face interaction between people. People would rather live in a Social media plastic bubble than to meet people for real Sam.
Steven Adair absolutely and no one ever wants to talk on the phone anymore it's so bizarre!
True but either way I still don't want to talk to anyone
They have become deaf to everything except their own voice.
Nobody I talk to actually listens these days. It’s literally so difficult to talk to people in real life
Despise social media. What a great 'talk' - spot on.
this was beautiful. thank you so much for this!
Social media got nobody's thinking they're somebody. Read my lips, likes and views does not mean you are a celebrity, you still have to wake up and go to that Chick Fila job in the morning.😂😂
".... A life, where what I represented was more important than who I was."
Yep
It's why I deleted my Instagram
I’ve uninstalled insta since one week, i seriously can’t
I deleted my account one year ago and know that I'm better off without it.
@@jolandadejong1896good for you! I agree. I don't have any media either. I enjoy life. And feel free. 🙏🙏

thanks for the video. appreciate it!
Its really important to learn how to mange the time you spend online ,it can consume you and take up all of your time leaving you feel depress
Amazing speech ma'am,💓
Social medias are good only if you're smart enough to handle it. I'm beyond smart so I quit. Later I found that it's way more better if you stay away from it. I'm glad I did.
Excellent talk.
Superior social media platform requiers superior state of mind,If I walk to any shop, library, pub, theatre wherever and I notice people have no fear, anticipation, feel free and easy, just like 2 decades ago-that's the world I'm dreaming of.
The understanding here is quite remarkable. A book with akin insights had a substantial effect on my outlook. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint

Amazing
Totally agree. I deleted my Instagram account a month ago, and I've never ever been happier! The only one left is Voicely, but it makes me feel better and helps with anxiety a lot.
I don't use much social media sites so I don't really have an addiction, but I have an addiction on YT
I'll truly always be humbly grateful for all of the internet social media workers and their families. I'll also truly always only warmly love, care for, pray for, respect, and be humbly grateful for all of the internet social media workers and their families past, present, and future kindness towards myself, my family, all others on all internet platforms, and all other people in this world. Seriously, oh yeah.

"The social platforms, that originally were set with the best of intention..." 😏
How can she be so naive as to believe social platforms were created with complete innocence? It appears she is still believing the lie even in her rebellion against it.
Just for good,... oh yeah 😏
You are great
As a guy said years ago: "Humans are predictable animals." He compared them to the experiments with pigeons eating the food and pushing buttons. He is right. Maybe if you can minimize the "predictability" just to 10 percent, maybe then you can give people what they actually want, and achieve their goals, not just dopamine. but people probably can do it only by practicing meditation and metacognition. Maybe people can download their favorite videos into their pc and watch them from pc, not from the internet, but have to unlearn and minimize the habit of engagement on social media, but learn engagement in real life in restaurants etc.
So truee
I don’t use Facebook or twitter, I did in the past but it was annoying.
Seeing somebody woke is so beathful. Best speech i seen in a minute. I exercise in a huge indoor pool. The lifeguards can't stay off the 📱. People swim a few laps and then come check there 📱. Repeat repeat. Not judging but we have a dam problem
"Even in the bathroom" 😸 me currently watching this in the bathroom while I take a 💩! 😸😸
I'm wasting literally 3-4 hours daily on instagram, I need to do something asap
Yes
She looks so much like Jennifer Garner! Brilliant speaker too :)
Marriage in crisis.. My wife wont stop social media it's tearing us apart... Snap chat and fb and all others help cheaters cheat 😠
I don't think you got it quite right. Best example is a friend who I talk to via instant chat soon later I realise he's too busy with positing his story instead of focusing on a great chat were just having. Doesn't seem like he cares much about the connection but attention. Quantity over quality

Best thing I ever did was delete social media! ❤
if they were never made maybe we wouldn't have tis problem.
I think close all my social media is the best desicion in my life i am never regret it, because i am known social media make me far from people who i loved and arround me. So much manipulation also in this social media, lucky me i never trap by their games. Good bye.. Hope i never meet you.. UNDERSTAND specially for this social media. I think social medias are platform not only sharing what you do but also be a platform for learnt something but outside there using it for creating conflict and try to stopped someone progress. So upset and disapointed, while somebody outside there just sharing their unussual or uninteresting things in this platform.
Keep it honest those who go online all the time do not have a life they spend their time online watching the screen entertain these people. At work is a place of entertainment and am there most of the time besides my business creating websites for people that believe they're famous and I see people online on their phones instead of enjoying their lives outside. In California the beach is 20 minutes each way where ever you live when I am at the beach I see no phones at all. Do not waste your life going online watching people lie to keep you interesting in their lives this is a distraction from your destiny that you should be living offline. God has blessed you to wake up and live an abundant life not to stay online watching others lie to keep you distracted from your destiny. The years will go by you will be old without anyone in an old folks home depressed for not enjoying your life.
SparklePeace that’s what I always say. There’s a whole new life to live beyond social media
Thank you ❤️
great
For Zimbabwe!!!...and cake!!! 🍰
Thank God i have never been addicted to social media and never will, but, one thing i have to say is that social media funcion in a criminal and sociopath way.I was strong enough to resist their sociopath tactics.Bullying, stalking, and defamation, shame on them. They have blood on their hands, they failed with me,sorry i am not sorry
the next cultural challenge is finding genuine connections in a world where people ghost each other and are scared to create deep connections, covid screwed things over even more then they were before… it’s like no one knows how to communicate and cultivate genuine connections in my generation (early 20’s), we gotta do better.
Now I put a timer every day
"The social platform (...) became quickly the largest, most powerful social conditioner of all time!"
Why people in the older generations became famous and had wonderful childhood? . . Because they weren't on social media
I'm doing an essay on this, its due tomorrow. Pray for me :p

Social media is a waste of time, you can spend years on creating a great page, but it can all disappear in 1 second. I stopped using it
👏👏
let me post this on my social media
People just do things because they get paid and that’s just really sad
Not really. Its not a popular topic people will flock to. Not many want to admit the internet gave a false reality
that is just system

Professor Joseph Thurm sent me here!
KZhead while uploading this video, This girl will kill us!
Oh yes . Social media is built on algorithm we enjoy and like. So what about new things we wanna explore . Ya thats true , i remember back then when i discovered new stuff on social media. But now ? It has became btr or worse
ironic that KZhead is social media...
I gave up social media!
Well you didn't really you are still on youtube
We can't escape all of it but we can limit it.
I clap for you unconscious ♥️
In this world of social media, every one has a mask .. none shows their real feelings..aarum pacha Aya manushyan ayi jeevikkunnila which is not right
I'm just consuming more media here
THAT'S WHATI'M SAYING
Nice intention, but it doesn't seem like she understands the code and the servers they run on are NOT controlled by the people. Yes we can be more intentional about the content, but that's not everything. One of the very basic things to understand is Marshall McLuhans "the medium is the message." It seems all the people who focus on content and how the images makes us compare and feel bad never stopped and got this really simple even if slightly subtle message.
😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The irony is...KZhead is social media...and most people commenting here claim to hate social media, yet you are here. And we are commenting to get the attention that she's talking about being the problem. Please gives this a thumbs up because it really makes me feel good about myself...and sadly I need that...and I'll be checking to see how many thumbs up I got too.
Truly can be a addiction depending on how you use it at least that's my reasoning
@Gordon G true but I don't agree with Reddit or LinkedIn
KZhead is TV that you can comment on, it’s not social media, nor am I friends with people on here
@@nitrojanks2977 KZhead can still be addictive where you can watch content hours in a row for some people.
