Between a 3 jaw puller and a hydraulic press and adaptors, they would make easy work of this bearing that's on a cut off shaft that is already scrap.

@@chrizdaman1267 ya but you may not always be somewhere it's safe to break out a torch, like a junkyard, or working on vehicle with a fuel leak that managed to degrease a bearing somewhere, or the CTE of the shaft is higher than the bearing, etc.

You'll strip out the threads on that bolt if he doesn't lube it up.

They dont explode. They just crack and are useless, if anything its hard on the anvil of the impact since chrome sockets are generally alot harder than impact sockets. I know this from experience lol oops

There's a thing called a three jaw puller that could have done this alot quicker and with ease. They are also like 20 bucks. This is definitely the wrong way of doing it.

This can be used when a bearing is in a blind hole..the ends of the puller arms have semi circle ball's on the end which fits between the ball bearings

I've seen the oily rag trick where people will force pieces of rag into the centre of the bearing and use a drift to progressively force it behind the bearing until it pops out. A long and laborious process.

Yeah, I can definitely see this being used in a tight area where other tools can't fit. It's around 300 bucks the tool that's why I was suggesting a cheaper option for only 20-30 bucks. This is a easy bearing to remove compared to a blind one where 3 jaws wouldn't fit. I use to fix fitness equipment and you can do alot with 3 jaw pullers but there's certain areas where it couldn't fit. Snap-On wants a little under $300.00USD for this setup.
