  • I use a tire dolly to lift and lower heavier than I can handle tires/wheels for my CR-V and 1940 1-1/2 ton Ford. It protects my back and the stud threads as I don't have to slide the wheels over the threads.

  • For the Creeper, just get yourself a big piece of card, like from a refrigerator, file cabinet, desk, big screen TVs. Tip; your work probably throws away a ton of the stuff. It provides just enough slickness to slide underneath, but you can still get good torque on a bolt. When it gets dirty, toss it and get another piece.

    • Yes - I use cardboard all the time: lets me slide around, and if fluid dumps on it I just go get more. Has just enough cushion to keep from beating yourself up, and that's a bonus. Your typical moving box [prior to folding/glusing/stapling works well.

  • Be careful when you purchase ramps. I can tell you from experience that in many cases the ramps won't fit under the front bumper, and therefore will damage front bumpers. You need to measure the MAX ANGLE between under the front tire and under the front bumper (or the lowest part of the front of the car), and for good measure retrieve 5°. You need to pay attention that everything may run smooth when you drive up the ramp, but damage may occur (if it occurs) when you drive DOWN from the ramp ... the car goes down and the shocks absorb that motion and therefore the front of the car goes a little lower then measured when standing still, so keep your foot on the brakes and roll the car down from the ramp using the brakes, and do it very slowly ... NEVER let the car roll down the ramp free wheeling.

    • Mechanics and sports car owners have been jacking up cars with low ground clearance for years simply running the car on to off cuts of decking or buying the ramp run up extensions sold for the purpose solves the problem.Also following normal safe working practice wheel chocks should be used when working under any vehicle.

    • If you're going to go through the trouble of making a hydraulic lift of this nature, why jack at the wheel? It seem like this would be more useful as a rail or frame jack. 4 of them on a common manifold would be sweet. They would need jack screw contact pads for seating.

    • Same thought crossed my mind. But the question is... what's the drive mechanism? If it's a lead screw kind of design I would be ok, but not a hydraulic ram: one burst hose or seal blows out and game over. Also, you need to be on a good cement base for this, as the smaller the area you apply the same weight to, the more stressed it becomes. Where this item gets into trouble is this: in the event of unit stops working and there's a suspended load... you gonna call a crane? Cradles for tires with spreader bars don't fall off trees - you may be in for a wait. A four poster by comparison can be pinned [or use a pawl] to hold load to allow drive repairs with a load up off floor level.

When I'm alone in my home garage I use mapp gas ,but only when absolutely necessary and I warn my wife to watch for smoke and fire when I do. Also, I've narrowly, very very narrowly ,avoided blowing up an oxy acetylene torch once and get pretty nervous around those set ups (read the flame went into the torch and I could see the heat in the lines and lucky enough for me I had the wherewithall to eventually turn off the valves to the tanks after being a deer in headlights for what seemed like 10 years.) But yeah I respect the torch but also fear it. The induction tool at least has the appearance of being safer to use.

Hope its a quick fix as I wouldn't want to spend all day under a car ballance on that lift. 4 post with catch kegs is the safest lift. As for the forklift conversion. That's been out for donkey's years. The trye leaver there's no need for it. Unless it's helping with ballance in high heels in some way.. As for digital mapping tools. See how many professional tracking firms buy them. Next time you get your wheels aligned watch how it's done..

    • I'm with you a hundred percent. I'm not even going to watch this video knowing they are promoting something that will kill someone someday. I've seen cars fall off a proper lift. How something like this ever got a patent I don't know

  • the ramps with the jacks, what is the point....

    @whocares264@whocares26411 ай бұрын
  • Those ramps look like a great idea, but at 30cm (11.8") max height are still piss poor. They certainly look taller than that. Ramps themselves look almost 1 foot, with maybe another 6" demonstrated lift. Don't know why every set of ramps you buy almost everywhere around are only like 6" tall. You're lucky if you can slide an oil drain pan under that clearance. Literally. I bought someone's set of homemade ramps that are like the ones in the video (welded angle iron, except without the hydraulic lifts in them) that are at least 24" tall at the top lands. They are heavy as all get out, but at least you can actually get some work done under them. I do like that you could drive up, raise the vehicle up on the lift, put taller jack stands under the frame, then lower the lifts and remove the ramps altogether, which would allow you to then remove the wheels at a more comfortable work height, which would be an impossibility using regular ramps.
