This is my honest comparison of the new Insta360 GO 3 versus GoPro 11. Let me show you the pros and cons to each action camera, and by the end you should know which is the best fit for your needs! Let's compare video, FOV, resolution, stabilization, audio samples, photos, mounting systems, and much more. Let's also compare it to the Insta360 GO 2, as well as my iPhone 14 Pro. I really think gopro needs to start innovating, keep the standard gopro for people that need it but make something different like insta360. I realize that these are aimed at two markets, the pro and the semi-pro, but if gopro doesn't start doing something original they're going to loose more market share.
Congrats on 500k Ben. Love love love your compro vids.
It was hard to find an review that was not sponsored so I appreciate this video. And what a different! The other video had to very diplomatic with any negative points if there was any at all. Thanks for this unsponsored review!
Great Review and comparison Ben! Can really see you know your stuff and that is always appreciated in a review!
Thanks so much man! You create some epic content
Go3 would be enough for me since I only use it to create road cycling short instagram reels. That size, mounting versatility, and the magnet pendant is unbeatable currently on the market. Gopro 11 is undoubtedly better in video and sound quality, but i gotta sacrifice the quality for ease of use for my needs. Moving the go3 tiny camera from the pendant for POV, to the handlebars, and other mounting position while riding is just perfect.
What is your Instagram? Curious to see the end result
Great review, as ALWAYS. With regards to the upgrade in resolution, the Go2 resolution is 1440P: 2560x1440, where the Go3 is 2.7K: 2720x1536. This is only a 13% resolution increase which I know that I couldn't tell the difference and I doubt anyone else could as well. I have been a very active user and ambassador of the Go2, however I am very disappointed that Insta360 hasn't taken advantage of this opportunity and made a REAL video resolution upgrade to 4K. Nice screen and better battery, but not enough for me to fork out more money for a system with what I consider 'nice to have but not essential' extras.
If you were just diving in now, though and didn’t have a Go 2, would you grab a Go 3 or something different?
4k 60 would have been a great deal
I think you are forgetting how small the camera and sensor is. It's not just "adding 4k" and done. They would have to redesign alot for it to be possible first of all. Also business wise it would be a bad decision to jump from 1440p to 4k Right away. There are more Cameras coming from insta360
@@peruemprende10 Unfortunately 4k means more heat and less battery life. We're going to have to wait a few generations of chips to get all that in such a small package.
Even though I have other cameras I find having the GO 2 or GO 3 is a phenomenal B roll camera. Also using the FreeFrame you can easily reframe later for both vertical and horizontal format videos. I have exported most of my family videos in vertical format for my wife's TikTok.
Thank you for the review and comparison. For the GO2 users: accessories for GO2 are incompatible with GO3. My GO2 is used on a lot of bike rides mounted to my helmet. am happy to find out that the GO3 has an audible beep when you press the button. I have missed a good amount of video, by not knowing the camera was off or conversely, it was running when I thought it was off
was hoping they kept the same footprint but just made it taller so they go2 mounts were still useable
this is a great point, thanks for sharing. the go 3 is just a tad larger, so it doesn't not fit in go2 mounts
Amazing comparison and review! Thank you for this 🙏🏽
This is really helpful. I want to replace my GoPro 9 because it's starting to get old GoPro clicks and pops audio problems. I think this is a known GoPro issue. I love the flexibility of the Insta360 Go 3. The necklace mount is awesome. Love how small and discreet it is. It'd be great to have something really small for walking/hiking or even SUP that doesn't call attention to itself. The sound and picture resolution pushes me back to GoPro though.. no contest. The picture resolution is why I'd have my GoPro with me and not just my iPhone. I don't mind screwing my GoPro on to my bike but it'd be fun to have more options. As others have said, GoPro should come out with a tiny versatile competitior!
I love this! I keep a go2 in my pocket at pretty much all times, but the battery life and memory frustrate me. I LOVE that this new one has the "case" with a screen, but if I shoot in pro mode, I can point in the direction I want and use the app to adjust angle and frame (although I do wish there was a better option for frame crop). I feel like I'm going to be $420 poorer soon.
Going for the 128gb
Excellent review/comparison - thanks, Ben!
i love the image quality in gopros and id never wanna go down on that res but man how innovative insta360 have been with this go series really makes me think about it all again
i definitely think there's a different end user for each one. both have their place and each have great unique qualities
Go 4 could be just right. But after buying other sport cams, its GoPro only now for sport cams and A74 for other shots. Sony should try a product in this space.
@@AuthenTech well said
Yeah, I'd rather choose screwing in for a solid mounting just to be sure I'm going to lose my camera. The feeling of it being highly secured is worth the time of mounting. On the other hand, it is nice to have a magnet mount just for those less intense movements. Overall, they are both cool to have hands down.
Thank's for this comparison. It was very entertaining again!
Excellent Comparison Review Video. Thank You Ben.
Awesome great job on compiling between the two!! I'm going GOPRO Hero 11. Thanks for the video it helped a lot. I picked the GOPRO Hero 11 over the Insta360 x3 also.
Great vidwo as usual and appreciate your honest unsponsered review. Would be interested to hear your views comparing this to the DJI Action 2 which is almost as small with similar functionality, but with potentially better video features and a lower price. Thanks.
Completely agree. It's interesting the 3rd Action is bigger instead of a competitor. The next Go 3 will probably be 4k though which would be incredible
As a GoPro fan, I really like the route Insta took with this camera. This would be a much better option for routine carry - stuff like family outings, where you aren't sure you'll be using the camera but would like to have a quality camera in your back pocket. The resolution and framerate options are pretty disappointing tho. Kinda better off with a phone and a Hero 11 in all my use cases.
legit was thinking same
I’m a GoPro fan too but they really need to up their game. Especially the mounting and replacement of batteries when it’s in the media mod.
I think I would half disagree with this. For the size you have to expect a certain quality for size. 2.7k is more the adequate for this size and the unlimited amount of mounting positions that you can do is super impressive
i think the res is sufficient for most of those people just capturing family adventures, random vlogging, social posts, etc. you're def right though, and i think it'd be a much easier EDC item over a larger action cam.
Can GoPro make a cam at the similar size with higher resolution and framerate? No, they can't.
1) The case is a big improvement over the Go 2 for what I do. 2) Video quality looks better than the Go 2, particularly skin tone (atrocious with Go 2). 3) It has much better battery life than Go 2. 4) Much improved storage capacity than Go 2. Conclusion) Ok. Even though I am disappointed it doesn’t have 4K, there are enough meaningful pluses for me to get the Go 3.
@@laidbackracing5559 not sure I understand the question. This is a camera. Camera do not display speed.
I do POV videos on my channel and this is a game changer for me. Way more inconspicious and ease of use. Im getting one for sure! Great video. 👍
That was a cool video presentation. Thank you so much.😊
This is the comparison I was looking for. More GO 3 videos please.
sweet thanks, what else would you like to see?
@AuthenTech one vs GO 2 , to see if it's really worth the upgrade (since they use the same resolution in reframe video).
insta360 is being innovative with the case, the price isnt great but not bad. not much spec upgrade but usable. i might get it. well done review
thanks! yeah i wish that price was bit lower
@@AuthenTech In nym opinion they should opt for memory card instead of chip-based memory. much better and cheaper solution.
Excelent job, as usual ;) I'm just wondering, is this new magnetic quick mount system compatible with the DJI Action 3 by any chance ? ^^ Thank you 🙏
Great review, this Go 3 is very tempting especially in terms of creativity of shooting angle. Always funny to read the comments and people complaining about 4k....for KZhead... for non-pro/client work... lols!
Hi, great video! Keep up with good work! And just to ask did you maybe wrongly ordered headlines of cameras, on little screen black cam is “GoPro 11” and it is on the left side of stick rod and on the big left side is headline for “Insta 360 go 3”
Wow this review is sooo helpful!
I’m happy because I was looking online. The updated grocery not the sample now is 4K.
Good comparison, thanks. I'm looking for a new action camera to use along side my iPhone 13.
Great video! I'd love to see the difference underwater 💭
Nice comparison Ben 😄👍🏽. Interesting to see the iPhone perform pretty well too!
thanks man! yeah iphone no slouch
This camera can do things that the DJI or GoPro can't and that makes it a nice alternative. If I could only have one I would stick with the DJI Action 3 but I could see myself using this one quite a bit because of so many quick mounting options. Thanks for the video!
thanks for sharing!
Probably would have been worth comparing them at similar resolutions too. If I understand correctly, you can't add an external mic to the go 3 base unit, which is a shame.
Bit rate? One thing I like about the Hero 11 is the 10bit video which is great for post, that one feature really steps the GoPro up to a more pro camera.
Nice review Ben. Whats your scooter model it looks awesome!
By watching ur vlog, I would rate 1st Go Pro 2nd Iphone 14 pro 3rd Go3 insta 360. Based on vlogging capabilities and usage. But I like insta 360 is a must as secondary camera considering the easy to use and quick adaptability.
What an amazing gadget, like it is magnetic, that is awesome
I miss the gopro session models plus I feel like with a little creativity most action cams can do everything this cam even making a setup as compact as possible then, without now having to have another device just wirelessly tether to your phone or any mobile device with can download the products app.
what a big step for the GO 3, cant wait for the GO 4, must be crazy !
If youre a new channel starting out "YOU GOT THIS!" I got the Insta360 x3 for my HAWAII CHANNEL and am still learning the ins and outs of it. This looks great and perfectly portable. Are you able to zoom in on shots while editing in the mobile app? (Since its a single lens camera)
As someone who wants to primarily record POV driving I think that Insta360 is a perfect camera. Light, can be clipped on cap. Also you have that screen on pod to actually see what your take looks like. For a purpose like this, I think it's perfect.
Great comparison of the two cameras, the Hero is the clear winner, unless you film POV style contest on a regular basis. Than the GO 3 is a more versatile camera. Thanks for sharing.
Great video nice comparison
Good work!! I wish you talked about overheating! Really curious to know if Insta Go 3 is any better in terms of the overheating issue.. To me that means everything because with Gopro it turns off every 20-30 mins and constantly freezes that you should remove battery and so on… so much pain
You could just wrap the Go3 in a wet paper towel.
Thinking about seriously making the switch over to Insta360. I've used a GoPro Hero 9 for a few years and mounting has always been a pain for my POV videos. It seems mounting from multiple angles and checking is super easy with the Go3. ALSO, the ease of switching the video orientation/ratio for use on different platforms (ex. Instagram, TikTok, etc.) is a solid feature!
I have had plenty of go pros, but the camera I use daily on my hat is the go 2. So convenient for everyday stupid stuff.
@@tjrickbro is go 3 water proof?.. Is this better than go pro 10 ?
@@vinothan9755 the camera yes, the case no. They serve two purposed. The go 3 is way smaller. You can use it to live blog. I wear my go2/3 every day clipped to my hat to record stuff I do with my son, shirt bike trips, etc. For other activities like mountain biking, snowboarding I use the go pro. I turn the go pro on and forget about it. But the appeal of the Go camera is the size and what you can do with it.
@@tjrick what about Action 3 is it better than go bro and how to solve freeze on recording in go pro... Is that video will be delete while remove batteries to fix freezing issue? What about it? Bro
@@vinothan9755 have used the action 3. I've using GoPro for many years. Nothing against action 3.
Interesting side by side comparison. I think the Go is no real competition to the GoPro. It really is about what you need. Personally, I think the options the Go offers may be enough to convince me to get it not instead but in addition to a normal Action cam.
It kinda is bit competition if you look at gopro hero 11 5.2k footage then compare it to go 3 2.7 there is not much differance between them also the go 3 does not have the freezing and overheating issues the gopro has its a no brainer to go for the go 3.
@@silverpro8356 You may be right but remember, high resolutions means big files and since there is no SD card slot, you will endure your self on transferring files all the time.
@@cryptopsycho4838 Yeh but 128gb even 64gb can record a lot of footage at 2.7k.
I love the design of the insta360 but the GoPro's resolutions and fps will make it the more desirable, You should do a comparison with the GoPro Max and compare the 360 cams
Thanks for the review
Great video Ben!
Thanks so much!
nice review buddy 👍🏻
How many times did the camera unit loose control to the dock on you (I don't mean because of too much range)? I had some major issues with Go 2 where it would constantly loose connection when the unit was out of the dock and I wouldn't turn off! Almost to the point of being unusable! Thanks for the comparison.
Excellent review! I am going with insta go 3. Is not having 4k and resolution really a big deal. That is the only point that is confusing me making the decision
6:20 the rattling sound is from the magnet mount on the go 3 itself cause it actually has wiggle room, it's a known issue on the action 3 as well.
im loving them both!
great review, just a heads up, the pricing you mentioned in your video for the go3 is incorrect, actual pricing is around 110$ more for all the versions. also theres the gopro 11 mini for 300 which is a much better value IMO
Wow Minion Version one is Cute 😍👍🏼 hope they will have similar cute designs with the new one too 😊
I'll stick with my go2! It is so much more pocketable with the AirPod looking battery case. If I wanted a GoPro looking device, I'd just get their One RS 4k!
Yeah I love the AirPods style case from the Go 2. I throw it in my pocket and don't worry about scratching the lens. The Go 3 seems like it would need its own protective carrying case to keep the screen and camera from getting scratched up. Definitely an improvement in some ways (better thermals and longer battery life), but I'm not crazy about the rest of the changes.
pros and cons for sure. that go2 case felt just like an airpods in the pocket, very slim
Rollin'!! "Rip off some skin!"Thats how I feel every time I screw the mount in, hence why I am giving them away on my channel. My Go3 arrives later today! Awesome review!
haha nice! those dang little thumb screws are so bad
Thanks ...this information is doo usefull
Hi! Is the GO 3 shutting down / freezing after 3-4 minutes of continuous recording? I have these kind of issues with my GO 2 and this is the reason I want to upgrade to GO 3. But if the GO 3 is freezing too, thanks, but no, thanks!
Very nice review
I've had non stop audio problems with my GoPro and I have the latest models, I've done firmware updates, factory resets, external mics, etc. At this point I want to try any other camera that simply works.
Great review. Every other review on KZhead at the moment just feels like an ad.
that's because most of them are sponsored, which *is* an ad.
Curious to see the Go 3 up against the Action 2.
As a Hero 8 and inta360 One X2 owner I might wait for the X4. Pretty cool though
Thanks for the review. Any mic port on the Insta? How do you connect an external microphone?
hm, i'm not sure, good question
I think I'll keep muy DJI Action 2 for a while. It have a lot of advantages, like size, mount system, resolution and frame rates, video quality, etc. Only downsides are overheating (not much a problem) and the need of protection for the lens, screen and body. But overall for me still seems like the better alternative for small size and good quality action camera
For 219 pounds it’s amazing value , got two for the price of this low res cam . Over heating is bad on the action 2 but I just rotate the two cameras .
but no super vide view
Same, it's just the overheating issue but then dropping it down to the same res as the Go 3 means that it's not an issue so the Go doesn't really hold any advantages.
@@comonman8135 the fov of the action 2 is 155 degrees where the fov of the 360 go 3 is 120 degrees
Thank goodness for competition. Improves the breed. Very surprised how good the iPhone is too.
Agreed!
Thanks for the comparison. I think the 2.7K on GO 3 is more than enough for our social. I will get one a make a review soon.
its really nice for the socials :)
This would be a treat for vlogs on a wheelchair, can't imagine just snapping it on it and heading out haha I found GoPro Hero 4 we had at home, makes me want to record something on KZhead now 🙈 Might save up for this in the future!
Very helpful video, helped me make a decision after days of watching videos. I also really like your ichthus in the bottom right :)

Hey Ben! Thanks so much for this review. Quick question: I used my standard iPhone 13 (base model) to film outdoors (my wife was the roving camera woman) and then I had two GoPro's mounted on trees. I only care about 1080P because I just want natural outdoor camera footage for my music. I was stunned at how small the iPhone 13 files were compared to GoPro (tried to use the same rough settings for the three cams) and also the iPhone video files seemed to work seamlessly and flawlessly within Final Cut Pro whereas the GoPro video files were HUGE and sort of hard to manage. I just wish Apple would out out their own action cam with the guts of the iPhone 13 or whatever...but maybe that's too much to ask?! Anyway...my main question is I'm ready to replace my GoPros with the Insta360 Go 3 (if they're still even available) and I'm wondering if you know anything about whether the video files from the Insta360 Go 3 operate much like Apple's video files (from the iPhone 13 or higher) or whether they're more similar to the GoPro video files? Thanks a lot!
I should point out that I'm NOT interested in actual 360 video for this use. I merely want a good cam to do simple 1080p stuff that ISN'T a GoPro. I just want the video from the Insta to be simple to use within Final Cut Pro and to NOT be such huge size and seemingly harder to work with when compared to the video from the iPhone 13. Hope that makes sense.
how secure is the snap on though. let's say if i want to mount it to the exterior rear of the car near the exhaust where there's tons of bumps... would it hold? i don't want to lose it while driving haha
What is your tv bench or tv stand? I've been looking for something like it for forever
Is there any quality alternatives for under 200.00 out there? I only really need it for scenery sharing of the city when I'm riding my bike, so I guess only a wide angle option is the only minimum I want, as well as long battery, since my rides can last up to 4 hours off and on:
Next Gen they will match in resolutions against GoPro. I have the GoPro 8 and with Pixel 7 pro I don't know if I have the use case for actions cameras anymore, even for the 11 Go Pro.
Re: the mounts for GoPro. Check out the Ulanzi solution. Works for me and is super fast.
Does it support 10 bit color depth? I don't use 5.3k feature due to overheatting issue, but I like 10 bit mode.
I wonder if GoPro when head mounted, can still perform under the rapid lateral head movements up and down. All demos so far, has gopro mounted in a fixed stable position which does not have lateral movements
Hi. I wondering. If this can be used as cam source on OBS? Does it has cable connection to PC?
I noticed at the very beginning that you had decided to favor insta 3. when you attached the cameras to the holder
Does the Go 3 itself rechargeable with a USB-C cable or does it only recharge when inside its charging dock?
if I using to shoot daily vlog, dji pocket 2 or go 3 better ?
That Minion skin is awesome!
How much can I trust the magnetic under the tshirt? being a so small camera, im afraid to loose it without noticing when (if) it drops.
whenever i go for an action camera i am looking for external storage options for the GoPro I like the SD card size. the internal memory of the Insta go 2 is not in my opinion a good purchase because i need a lot more storage than what they are giving me
GoPro is much higher resolution if you need better quality/wider angles. Insta 360 is great for people who want a more fun action camera that’s small and reliable and much easier for the general public.
Now we just need someone to put this camera up against the DJI Action 3 (made this year, fully updated).
And insta 360 X3
good suggestion, thanks
Great video
Nice review, but didn’t the insta go2 case also automatically charge the camera and extended the battery life? I don’t understand why in every video that is mentioned as new?! Or is the battery life just that much longer ?
i think it's because that battery life is just much longer
i hope they made it with up to 60fps with wider angle view...and i take a lot of pano shots... i'm a bit disappointed, i was planning to get this one to upgrade from my current cam... i guess imma stick with my dji pocket 2 for now.. thank you for this video, it's very helpful
Love the better battery life, I'm looking forward to the next version with a higher resolution sensor. I'd bet they can overtake gopro since the company has become so complacent
Tough competition for gopro ahead. Idiots not changing much from gopro 8 to gopro11
Also u can get the long screw witch saves more time
