00:00 Watch Brands Ranking Introduction
If you’re a long-time viewer of the channel, you’ll know that while Raphael is a huge fan of classic style and sartorial craftsmanship, he's never really been bitten by the wristwatch bug.
Nathan’s passion for timepieces drew us to Delray Watches and our friend, Federico, has given us access to an impressive collection of watches. We wanted to see if sparks fly when we pit a clothing expert against a watch expert by ranking a selection of watch brands.

Which of today’s rankings do you agree or disagree with most? And what other watch brands would you put on the list? Let us know in the comments!
#watches #menswatches #menswear #mensfashion #bestwatches
Dropped the ball completely with purposely avoiding talking about Grand Seiko
Came to the comments to say the same!
I just realized why Casio is not on this list. God Tier.
Agreed. Casio MRG G-Shock. God Tier Also, where is Grand Seiko...
@@JustMeTalkingGrand Seiko, also God Tier Gear 777
Casio is cheap Chinese mass produced tech
@@bdegrds Japanese company. They make the toughest and most reliable watches in the world with their G Shock line. There is a reason military and law enforcement swear by them. I've had my original G Shock since 1998 and it's never had to be serviced whereas both my Rolex and Omega need serviced regularly. They aren't the flashiest or most luxurious watches, but they are the best value for dollar of any watch brand in history and that's not debatable.
I agree
A lot of unnecessary brands were discussed, but some important ones were left out. Grand Seiko, Habring², Raymond Weil, Christopher Ward, Christiaan Van der Klauw to name a few
Throw Mido in there too
Casio
Also Marathon and Sinn
You cannot get a accurate list, if its been done by watch snobs!
And especially Frank Muller
I wish Grand Seiko would have been discussed as well as Frederico's opinion of Orient for value. If you are a recent college grad who has no cash or just need an everyday watch that you do not care if it gets banged around then Orient is a great buy.
Even rich watch enthusiasts wear Orient watches because they are cool and horologically significant.
Also weird how no mention of Frank Muller and Richard Mille
Grand Seiko keeps hiding awfully finished movements behind crystals with stamped motifs. They have beautiful watches like the Eichi II, but those are a exception. Lot of fuzz about nothing inside.
I have two Orient(SEIKO) mechanical watches, the cheap Bambino line (about $140, edit: Looks like with inflation they are about $170 now) almost 10 years requiring zero maintenance and I get compliments all the time. They are nice subtle watches with leather bands if you don't want to go for the all jewelry look of a Rolex. I wear them at my white-collar job that is business casual or business formal when it comes to dress.
Grand Seiko is for beta males and is below an F- which is why it wasn’t discussed.
You seriously ranked Nomos higher than Vacheron Constantin? I disagree with that.

Hes deranged
Hipster ranking
Vacheron #1 pieces of beauty
Nomos is great.
Enjoyed the video. It would have been interesting to have even discussed Breguet, Grand Seiko, Meistersinger. Breguet not there on the list was a shocker.
I agree, Breguet not on the list, should be criminal. I kept thinking they hadn't gotten to them yet, and then the video ended with no mention.
Easy A. It's Breguet, it can't be anything else.
Because Breguet is on the S
Totally 😢
Breguet not there shows what a joke this list is.
Nice! And I am looking forward to part 2: Casio, Citizen, Certina, Orient,...
I'm sure they won't be touching these brands! The focus is more on the high end brands not value brands
The channel focuses on up-market brands - certainly no Casio, Orient, Vostok etc.
@@heycidskyja4668 You must not have watched the video yet...
Casio is God tier. They didn’t have a rank high enough on the scale.
@@chiefeugene Marathon is Canadian... And the watches are built in Switzerland.
Grand Seiko? Casio? Orient? Festina? Citizen? (people also mentioned Breguet) I would love to hear his opinion on these, too.
These are definitely the wrong guys to rank brands like Orient, Citizen, Festina or Casio, because the was a lot of watch snobbery in this ranking. Like this is the first time I heard someone say that Seiko builds inexpensive bad watches, while most of the watch community would say that even the cheaper Seikos are pretty good watches for their price. All in all this was a very opinionated ranking with some brands being knocked down for their more affordable watches, like it was only based on the overall quality of the watches and not value for money, but then TUDOR is ranked above Rolex.
For sure, Orient are beasts of a watch. I have 3 for travel beaters. Cant rate them highly enough. Price aside, they proudly box in the C tier I think.
@@-Derp- Bambino is an absolute beauty!
@@urosjovanovic3142 Fo sho. I have Kamasu, Mako, Kanno, they are great.
As some of you already mentioned, how can they keep Glashütte Original, Grand Seiko and Breguet out…?
Even makes like Orient and Citizen.
I think Longines and Tudor should have been a little higher. They're exceptionally good value and increasingly high quality in functional terms, as well as having distinctive and/or attractive aesthetics.
If you're ranking Rolex "c" (and in the bigger picture that is fair) then Tudor, Longines and even Christopher Ward are c- or below, they have to be. Only Omega could complain, TBF, from a horology POV they kick Rolex from pillar to post but they need to sort out their marketing, stop copying Rolex!
@@fontyyy Rolex is B-/C+ on the chart. I think Tudor and Longines should have been on the next band down from that, i.e. C (so at least on par with Breitling and certainly above Tag Heuer, Tissot and Bell & Ross). But probably Rolex should have been B, same as Omega. I agree that from a horological innovation PoV Omega is way ahead of Rolex, but we aren't really told what the criteria are (in fact they seem to change depending on what brand he's talking about), and Rolex excel in other areas (although it should still be well below the top tiers). Another thing we aren't told is the relative weighting of historical achievements vs. modern offerings (or in terms of actual watches, contemporary vs. vintage). Longines especially should gain more points for its historical achievements. Basically, what's weirdest about the chart is that only Breitling is in the C band, when that band should have been used for several brands that are currently in the bands immediately below and above that. Oh, and Grand Seiko should have been A-/B+, with Seiko itself remaining in the B-/C+m band... ;-)
@@neil4701the criteria is whatever is on the inventory of Delray watches... if you have a lot of omega to push and few rolex in your inventory, you will also rank omega and nomos over rolex...
@@neil4701 Grand Seiko? F- at best.
@@fontyyy What a strange comment.
I just wanted to take a moment to say how amazing your video was! I was really impressed with the quality of the footage, the editing, and the overall presentation. You did a great job of explaining the topic in a clear and concise way, and I learned a lot from watching your video. I also really appreciated the way you made the video engaging and entertaining. You kept my attention throughout the entire video, and I never felt bored or lost. I would definitely recommend your video to anyone who is interested in learning more about the video.
Frederique Constant deserved a mention (and not just as the owner of Alpina.) They have that completely new one-piece movement that is horologically important. I would stay away from their gold-plated watches, but their steel watches have classically good looks.
I agree. Their world timer manufacture is terrific.
Frederic Constant should be "B minus" IMO...
Did I miss a comment on Breguet? I know they may have fallen from your grace being owned by Swatch, but don't they have craft and quality and history to place well, and be significant? Their guilloche' is special. Grand Seiko spring drive- also significant, and no mention in the Seiko section.
As an owner of two Tissot watches I really hoped you would have rated them higher, but as I think about the problems I’ve had with both of them I think your score is fair. But, a major point in their favor, when I sent my first one in for service earlier this year, they sent me back my original watch and a brand new version of the same model because parts for my older watch are no longer being made. So that’s cool that they just gave me a new watch.
He is snob and very biased.
I agree. Tissot watches are nice. Wear whatever you want and do not worry about what other people think.
Tissot offers tremendous quality to price ratio.
Tissot is garbage. Very poor quality control.
Tissot is outstanding quality control and while the brand in a lowest part of Swiss watch “hierarchy pyramid”, but still highly respectable and belongs to the strongest watch family in the world.
No Breguet, did I miss something? I’ve actually have received excellent customer service from Cartier, that said I deal directly with my local Boutique.
you forgot to mention the prestigious Breguet. it should be at least A-
And Franck Muller.
What no Breguet! That's how under the radar and overlooked this brand is and surprised Grand Seiko wasn't too.
That was my first thought as well. I was really hoping to see where Breguet ended up.
Well he mostly talks about tacky fashion can’t spect much. breguet is at top . Especially the 5157 🤔 getting one soon
I own Breguet and it’s not just they are under the radar…it’s that these guys know very little about watches.
the young man to the left needs some education. Sad ducumentation
You guys need to do a sequel on more brands! But, much more than that, it's fun just listening to experts talk about this stuff.
Very good overview I like the breadth of brands covered. I don't agree with all your rankings but you have great color on them! Thanks!!
Got to admit that I have never agreed more with a watch ranking than this. Thanks Federico. For all those bemoaning why this or that brand is missing, nowhere does it claim to be a comprehensive list - just 57 watch brands.
Nice list. I was a little disappointed that Breguet did not appear, but then again I may have missed it.
Breguet, an -A, just because they are underrated. Top notch Horology.
Breguet are a class above the rubbish in this list
Who has been watching those adverts. Rather buy a Steinhart than a rolex. V for value. Rolex are tractors.
Oris deserves higher for their bronze work alone. It's unmatched in the industry. I know it's a niche thing because bronze isn't popular, but they destroy the competition with their metallurgy.
No, oris is good but they are entry luxury don't make them out to be something they aren't. Oris only uses grade 2 titanium. Rolex uses their own foundry. Blancpain uses grade 23 titanium etc
Great episode and it's nice to see two of my favorite youtubers in the same video. Thanks, gentlemen.
Very enlightening discussion. One of the best I hav seen. Currently on an IWC working my way to a Patek. Need to work harder and smarter 😊
I’d give this ranking a solid D. No Grand Seiko and no Credor pulled the grade down considerably.
To be fair he did say makes some of the best watches in the world. I'd be certain he was referring Grand Seiko even though he didn't specify
I think when he said seiko makes some of the best watches in the world he might have been including grand seiko
Most people in the US have never seen a Credor, or know what one is. I have and they are not my cup of tea.
You missed Glashutte Original, would be interested in how that brand would be ranked.
B+ Union C+
B+ all day.
You are so luky to have such a gentleman as Fed on your channel. I don't normally like these 'ranking watches' type of show but if anyone's going to do it you chose the right man. Great video, thanks very much indeed.
Thank you very much for collaborating on this video. I can tell you from experience, the appraisal of Hamilton watches was dead on. I bought the Khaki automatic field watch around 5 years ago and it has been an excellent introduction to mechanical Swiss watches. I have had no issues and CS has been good.
Great video! I wonder why Movato as left out of the rankings? I'm a fan of Omega, Bell&Ross, Rolex and Breitling but I find myself wearing my Seiko daily, the others stay in the safe mostly unless I'm going out or there's an occasion to wear one of them.

Nomos above a Vacheron? That means you don't know watches either!!! 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 FBA/B1
You two rock! Thanks for the great content and entertainment!
Very interesting! I knew Lange & Söhne would be on A. Sadly you forgot about Glashütte Original and Union Glashütte. They are the small leftover companies that have been rebuilt after the German reunification in 1990. I visited both companies a few years ago. They still make world class watches on the level of Lange & Söhne and NOMOS
Glashütte Original produces great watches, but they are nowhere near A. Lange & Söhne…
Nomos yes, Söhne no.
Totally agree, weird how Nomos is mentioned on this list but no GO and UG. Spectacular German craftmanship. Glashuette Original is good value and the swatch group has recently done some good marketing push for them. The panomaticlunar is a very iconic series. I do agree with comments, it's far from A. Lange & Sohne quality.
Any opinion of Sinn? I own a 556 and it has been my most worn time piece.
Lange & Söhne. Simply brilliant quality
Raffael is pronouncing all names in french 😀 making him an ultimate hidden peasant.
he pronounces them the correct way...
Of course he doesnt

Great video, you guys got right to the point and didn't pull any punches 👌🏾👌🏾
Great show,exactly what i need ,base on knowledge and experiments.thanks a lot🎉
I have a great Bulova of 5 years old. Recently, when the date complication didn't work, I got a new quartz movement for free, so a fantastic service! It's high accuracy quartz, what not a lot of watches and brands have. They have a new models which are quite nice as well, like the 96K112. So, why Bulova is given an F+ that quickly... quite absurd.
Bulova has done a lot recently. They have much more classically beautiful watches than anything else at their price point. The precisionist models, especially their moonwatch, is very good and innovative.
Have you seen how hideous the precisionist watches are?
@@trumptookthevaccine1679 I have the precisionist Moonwatch. It's beautiful. Eye of the beholder I guess. The Paul Newman Daytona is hideous to me.

Eye opener. Fairly graded. Loved it. Where does this place my GLASHUTTE SEA Q PANORAMA DATE? Be interesting to know.
Enjoyed that- would have preferred to take out the unranked/pointless ones and added breguet, grand Seiko etc but more or less agreed.
This was the most fun watch-related tier list discussion I have ever watched, thank you!!
I know very little about watches but would like to know more. This was very helpful and ,also, fun!
Excellent video gentleman, well done.
I'm not a Blancpain fan by any means but I'm quite surprised at Federico's comment about it being a brand that was defunct for a hundred years before being resurrected. That's not at all what happened.
Basically yes, defunct cash grab- we the first diver story!!
The Fifty Fathoms is truly iconic, but mainly the 50s/60s ones. BP ‘died’ twice, and is now just a shell run by Swatch as a fancy garish brand positioned above Omega…imo.
@@nintendokingsswatch also owns omega and breguet, this doesn't take away from the brands themselves, that thinking is very much internet troll speak. Blancpain is still one of the finest watchmakers in the game, of course over an almost 200 year history it's going to change hands
@@dado380blancpain is more than just first diver
What a fun episode. Ironically, Rolex has some of the most reliable and robust pieces on your list.
I’m always skeptical when I see these titles, but generally agreed with the grades given. Seemed fair, impartial and reasonable as can be accomplished. Well done.
Federico's extensive experience in the industry is truly remarkable. As a dealer himself, he has managed to maintain a high level of credibility and neutrality, which is commendable. However, while the ranking exercise in this video is entertaining it is both over-simplistic and unfairly stigmatizing to certain brands. Moreover, I would point at the use of silicon escapement by Patek Philippe as being arguably polarizing amongst collectors and a reason for a drop in brand’s ranking.
Classic style--The Cartier Tank for the win!
Between those pants and those glasses, I don't know who I trust the least. I'm impressed a boutique brand like LIV made the list with some of these household names. They've been my "secret weapon" in my collection for many years now, so the fact they got mentioned speaks volumes above that clearly ignorant grade.
It is always a bit silly to judge on looks, but on the other hand, patterns are a real thing and so are stereotypes, aesthetics, looks, images etc I was hoping for some funny mention, the clothing combo's were popping in this video, I love it hehe
Thank you for your honesty. I’m glad you don’t feel the need to claim knowledge on every topic.
Very fun video! Thanks!
Casio, Breguet, Richard Mille: are we a joke to you?
Casio gets an A+ from me as a retail watch brand., not luxury. That said, if you are grading on value for money, I can't think of a better brand off the top of my head. They are incredibly low priced for what you get.
@evelynwaugh7919 , regardless of what you think of these watches... leaving them out but talking about Gucci and Vincero is really weird. Breguet invented a Tourbillon for crying out loud... come on now.
My A's would be Vacheron, Patek and Breguet and Lange. B- for Vacheron is actually unfair. I know you arent a fan of Vacheron, which i think is based on a sour personal experience like customer service but Frederico, in my humble opinion you are very critical of Vacheron and i think you should base your opinion on their offerings, history, quality, and innovation. There is no denying the fact that Vacheron has contributed alot, if not the most to swiss watchmaking. They definitely deserve to be a part of the Trinity and are top notch watchmakers. I agree with your comments on AP. Having said that if im talking sports watches, my favourite watch is the Royal Oak chronometer. Not because it is a hype watch, but because i just LOVE the bracelet design. Im not a watch collector by any means, im just a regular guy who enjoys watches. Im neither an expert on movements. Im fortunate enough to enjoy some watches from the trinity and a couple Rolexes so im giving you my two cents based on that. Rolex is also spot on a B+ watchmaker for sure. Where i might give Patek an A- is that I dislike the Nautilus to the point that even if someone gave me one for free, i might not take it. It really bugs me how Patek keeps trying to ride the Genta wave. Thankfully they do have the 5270, 5204, and 5208 which i really really like. For VC, i really like the traditionnelle, and cornes de vache. I also quite like the Overseas and their grand complications are to die for.
Thanks. Very interesting and thorough.
First comment - resellers like Frederico used to talk up Rolex as an A. Now that Rolex is cutting into their resale business they’re negative. Please consider that as you view these recent vids which include used watch salesmen.
And Breguet? Rchard Mille? Greubel Forsey? There are so many great brands. I think those brands that have a wide assortment and different price ranges were downgraded in the assignment of letters. The same applies to those brands that started out poorly but have recently improved their horological qualities. It was interesting when the men commented about watches that had similar movements but disparate prices. This video probably provoked endless discussing among watch lovers. I'd be interested in another video in five and ten years to see if rankings change.
Great analysis. Although, I wish you would have more clearly defined the criteria for the ranking. Was the ranking based on overall quality, prestige, brand recognition, accuracy, finishing, in-house movements/ complications or all of the above? You rated Omega a B because of the brands ‘value’. Continuity is important when ranking products. Also, since this ranking is subjective, I feel the list should be made by one person, not created using the opinions of two people. Looking good Federico! You fit right in on the GG set! 👍🏻🥃 PS, this is obviously not the “Official” ranking list because Brittney Pearce, aka, The Watch Gringa, creates the “Official” list.
thanks, that's logic
Please; What brand of spectacles is Federico wearing?
You’re looking great Fed! You must still feel so good not having moved to Philly all that time ago :-)
Nice placement of these watches I agree. But what happened to Grand Seiko?
No Grand Seiko or Breguet? What an oversight, considering you "ranked" a brand both never heard about. The whole format of this video is curious, seeing how Raphael is so clueless and all he relates his is general impression based on very little.
Also forgot to mention Citizen, Orient, and Jacob & Co
oh and of course Casio
@@stalkin well, brands like Casio might not fit the profile of this channel, but Grand Seiko and for sure Bregurt should have been on the list. It doesn't really matter in the great scheme of things, it's just a major, surprising oversight.
Brequet yes
That’s because Grand Seiko is below an F- so it doesn’t fit on the list.
Thanks for the feature!
Great entertainment here, thanks so much! . I think Feds ranking system is a refreshing change from the prestige only rankings. Theres a lot in customer service, resale and value per dollar.
This is honestly the most informative watch rankings yet. Fed knows his stuff.
Actually if you take his opinion for granted it’s quite misleading and takes you nowhere.

I would as always ask about Alpina and Fortis Well, Gentlemen, you can already start planing for part two and inform us more about garbage like Gucci, Armani and Diesel as well please!
My b tier 2 piece collection seems alright. Nomos 1101 (metro power reserve) and omega 2200.53 (planet ocean)
Casio and Citizen - I would have loved to hear where you place them
I’m not really into watches - I don’t think I’d ever spend more than $200 for one. I recently got a Timex Waterbury for Father’s Day. It has classic Roman numerals, quartz, with a top grain leather band. I enjoy it.
That’s a great watch. Somehow Timex always (over)delivers.
The roman numerals and minimalistic balanced look, make it timeless and looking classic and sophisticated I think. It looks good!
also: cool looking logo
Other brands he didn't mention (but would be interesting to hear his thoughts on...) Glashütte, Swatch, Direnzo.
Timex, Casio, Citizen, Orient. Instead they had Vincero and Gucci???!!!
I only know Swatch from Smart car and strange colorful plastic watches. I am new to the watch hobby. Could you name an example of a nice watch from Swatch?
Watching Federico a number of times in his multiple incarnations on KZhead(Urban Gentry, Watchbox, Delray), I have never been impressed with his knowledge of watches. This video doesn’t change anything.
I really appreciate your well-reasoned thoughts, Federico.
Would like to have seen a ranking for Grand Seiko separate from Seiko.
It’s below F- which is why it was not covered.
I think I would prefer these longer videos without background music
What about Movado? I know they are a fashion brand, but how do they rate and why? Seems a lot of people are talking about watches but Movado is conspicuously absent from the lists. Why is that?

Why are the ratings NOT what Frederico says?! And how could you miss Grand Seiko :(
... yeah exactly, and Casio MRG G-Shock
No Breguet, Casio, Voutilainen, Grand Seiko, RM
Could you review the watch lines from Shinola? Im curious as to their quality.

I love the channel. Great insight into watches. I would have loved to see Richard Mille, Greubel Forsey, Glashutte Original, Grand Seiko and Carl F. Bucherer. May be Federico can make another video on top 50 Brands.
Also, Breguet.
If there is an opinion that I trust regarding watches, it is Federico's.
Very interesting! I have a GP, and now I know where it sits among watches. Surprising for Rolex, you confirmed what I thought.
Christopher Ward deserves a place in this rundown, especially given the presence of "fashion watches" on the list, such as Armani.
An amazing oversight since they lit up the watch world with the Bel Canto and The Twelve recently, and especially considering Bremont is on the list. Definitely USA-biased by including Weiss but not CW!
Missed Casio, Grand Seiko, Orient, Breguet. Otherwise an informative presentation. Well done.
Yep. Where's my Casio MRG G-Shock God Tier... and my Grand Seiko Evolution 9... 😂😂😂
No mention of Grand Seiko and Breguet is a surprise.
Can’t get all watch brands in one video but they captured the essence of the market. More joint content from these two!
Federico has a great depth of knowledge that covers brands from both the customer but also the industry aspect.
