    • That would involve a stand alone CPU, and an intake w/ filter and exhaust. It was probably easier for the manufacturer to make it this way. Although I do agree with you. You could also attach a drill to it possibly.

    • One look at those castings and the metal used, and you know it can never fire. It would simply break. Brittle metal.

    • You can buy actual working kits of that size but they are way more expensive. The ones depicted in the video are nice too and more affordable. But yes, pretty cool stuff.

  • Huh. Didn’t think I’d watch the whole thing. Well done video, learned a lot, considering I don’t work on engines. Only constructive comment would be, after installing the valve cams, around 6m40s, it would be cool to see an under side view of the valves while you rotated the cams. Similar to the view you did of the pistons while rotating the crank shaft in the beginning. Cheers.

  • Are the intake and exhaust both ported to the outside of the heads? What engine is this based on? How would you plumb in a throttle body or carburetor?

    • Intake is above the valley - 14:11 I think each exhaust valve has it’s own exhaust pipe though. It’s an odd design. It doesn’t look 90 degrees either. Still pretty cool!

  • Would be awesome if the motor actually produced horsepower. I would put it on one of those 32 Ford roadster pedal cars. There would be a lot of fabrication to do but that would be the fun part. I would have to find a transmission to hook up to it. I bet it would be awesome to build it would be a challenge but worth it.

    • This video and device are very good teaching tools for understanding some mechanical concepts of engines. Some missing things/parts, but when you take apart one of your real engines, you can start to see how things work. I see this as a teaching tool.

    • Yeah I don't know about that. And maybe this is just me, but to me $700 is a lot of money. And if I was to drop $700 on a motor I would atleast want more for my money!! Like bearing seals/gaskets,fuel injectors etc...for a motor that does not run I would rather drop another $700 on top of that and receive a rebuild motor and be able to crank and run said motor instead of a expensive yet fancy desk paper weight. Is it cool? I think so! But a rip off to pay $700 for that "art" But I'm sure there's people out there that don't mind spending/wasting $700 on something like this

  • Sorry, but for that kind of money I expected better finish on mating surfaces like main bearings, cams and big end bearings. It looks like it`s straight from mold into package. Sound of metal to metal grinding is horrible.

  • It is more fun to build, run, and then even drive real automobile engines! I have done many, with 110% success, stock, mild, and modified. The model looks pretty, can't really identify it with anything in production, other than the basic layout of double overhead cam v8.

  • I recommend putting the heads on before the cam shafts go on as putting them on after is a real pain. Getting access to the two screw holes in the middle of the block is a nightmare.
