    • No Borders, No Bureaucrats, No BULLSHIT! So there are two arguments for border enforcement and both are worthless. 1. Economic 1.a. Tariffs Some people think or want others to believe that the borders can be a source of wealth with tariffs, but tariffs aren't beneficial if the goal is general economic prosperity. Tariffs are ultimately taxes imposed on businesses that are passed onto the consumer as much as possible as are all overhead factors. The thought of protecting domestic interests from foreign competitors also reduces incentives for domestic firms to increase their economic efficiency in order compete. 1.b. Foreigners "stealing our jobs" American workers, in particular, have artificially propped up wages. This is theoretically sustainable ONLY if the state can prevent competition from "illegals", but an apparently unaccounted for ramification would be the detriment to the ability for domestic firms to compete on the global market. If foreigners can produce more cheaply than domestic businesses because they'll accept lower wages, what incentive do consumers have to buy domestically manufactured products that are more expensive? If firms cannot sell their wares, how can they maintain their level of employment? They'll lay off workers. It's only sustainable in theory because the theory is flawed. The fact is that borders CAN ONLY IMPEDE ECONOMIC PROGRESS. Labor travels from areas of oversaturation to undersaturation. Labor goes from areas with too much competition and not enough work to areas with an insufficient amount of laborers and excessive work opportunities. Borders ONLY IMPEDE THIS. Simple. 2. Protection from terrorism or criminals. This is a ridiculous argument that is properly addressed by highlighting false flags and their causality in regards to the monopolization of security includung arbitration or judgement. False flag terrorism is functional because of the lack of recourse citizens have concerning security. It is widely believed that the Nazis burned down their own Reichstag building and then blamed a mentally handicapped person for the arson claiming that it was part of a larger conspiracy. Thus, the Nazis demanded that the German people relinquish their civil liberties against government encroachment. They were successful at this means of empowering the state because the people either supported it when government actors posed as the saviors claiming to need more power or the citizens couldn't conceive of a way to stop it AND HAD NO OBVIOUS ALTERNATIVE. Then the government murdered millions of people. We need to get at the root of the problem. The issue isn't open borders or incompetent leadership as much as it is the sanctioning of state aggression as a means to achieve order. The State is the largest and most effective violator of private property. The force used to secure payment for services that aren't desired is the ultimate problem. Libertarian Restoration Theory proposes a system where it's unacceptable to rob people in the form of taxation for services rendered in favor of a system where entities claiming to provide justice must compete for their income. When disputes in the justice that is rendered inevitably arise, they would continue to compete for income by looking to arbitration rather than war. Arbitration is less costly than war, therefore the market provides an impetus to avoid it. Governments have no incentive to avoid war because they don't compete for income. Rather, they rob people for their income and capitalize off of war. Competition for the provision of security with disputes handled through third party arbitration is the answer. The state claims a territorial monopoly on justice but doesn't supply justice universally; it shows favoritism and holds some above the law to which others are subject. When Assange showed that members of the military murdered journalists and children, the state imprisoned the people that helped to expose the injustice. The government demands tribute in the form of taxation and pretends to be the ultimate authority when it comes to justice while simultaneously bombing children and calling them collateral damage. What recourse do we have without a competitive impetus for the provision of justice and security? Begging the same entity for protection of private property will provide the same results it always has: perpetuation of injustice. It's not bad because there are no lgbt rights, but it's bad because it gets harder every day to have a normal life. Skyrocketing inflation, poor quality of education and healthcare, high taxes, all the laws making it difficult for businesses to prosper all contribute to life being very unrewarding in Hungary. People with government-connections get literally all of the EU funds, same with municipalities. Every year 20,000-30,000 (mostly young and highly educated) people leave the country, because prospects for young adults are generally very poor. Not to mention everything has gotten way worse since the war started.

For instance, when I heard of the incentive of not paying income tax, I thought that this is a problem economically because this means a decline in revenue. So treaty law says we're required to offer a chance to prove those claims in court. The court has a pretty low rate of granting asylum. 2) A person who works hard, jumps through the hoops, passes the test and pays the fees, _becomes a citizen._ The process takes about 10 years. So at that point, they're a citizen, not replacing any other citizen. Personally, I think Republicans are, long-term, messing themselves over by attacking Latin Americans. • Very interesting. And what you say of your family makes a whole lot of sense, and is repeated across many European nations that suffered under the tyranny of Nazism and Communism. So I’m genuinely interested to know what demographic (age, sex, education, socio-economic status etc) is now voting for Orban, given he’s achieving landslide victories. In the rest of Europe (in general) it’s the young who maintain the balance between left and right, their votes being more liberal, and it’s the middle aged who have started to show right-leaning tendencies (as seen during Brexit in the UK). But to have landslide victories in Hungary the spread of right thinking leaning must also be moving into a younger demographic. Is this fear of losing jobs (from migrants), is this lack of education, is this a population that has higher numbers of males than females amongst the 18-30 voter? Curious to know as really what you said about your family, bolstered by young liberals, Orban and his views shouldn’t be getting anywhere near landslide victories (even accepting his gerrymandering).

The people believe in him. It became a cult of personality. This media has the largest coverage. Also, it is really one sided (like FOXNews), left-wing politicians are so rarely seen on it (when they can actually say what they want and not edited the way the system wants), just like 5mins (top) per every election years (every 4th years). Every day you can only hear propaganda coming out of it ("this left-wing devil-incarnate did this, or that"+"the heroic government defended the rights of Hungarians"..etc), but literally zero coverage about anything that would besmirch the regime. So it's not hard to imagine, how is the mindset of the general populace. So if there's fear implanted into the minds of to people and comes the Great Leader who can save them all, you'll get the picture. That... And there were a LOT of cheating involved: voters were transferred, left-wing votes ended up on a landfill (yup, it really happened), voters bought (for few thousand HUF.. literally for a few bucks..), or out of fear for loosing a job (mostly public sector workers). Side note: There is an instituted public work for the rural chronically unemployed, which is makes up quite a lot of job in the rural are. Also, it (in most Fidesz-ruled townships) is literally slavery. People's pay are less than the minimum wage and since their standard of living is so low, even loosing this kind of job would be suicidal. And the Fidesz mayors knows this and make these workers vote in their favor.

    • I would just like to remind you that not all conservatives hold the same views that Vice might have you believe about us. Remember that not everything you see on the internet is always the whole truth. And yes, we should be concerned about this anti immigration idea. BUT we should also worry about unsecured borders that are allowing drugs and human trafficking to be an issue in our country. Our borders need to be secured, but also our immigration system needs a complete overhaul. There has to be a better faster way for non citizens to enter our country. People are dying on attempts to become Americans. The only way to stop that is to secure borders and make it easier and cheaper for people to enter our country. Would an immigrant pay thousands to a cartel to enter our country if they could do it legally and free? Probably not. The far whatever directions of this country are both wrong. The solution is somewhere in the middle. PS stop letting media make us forget that we are Americans before anything else.

But in the meantime, they're also (generally) aware that nobody really likes them or their ideology, so its unsurprising that they'd be a bit tentative - especially when they're made aware that they're speaking to left-leaning media (and it seems like these interviewers weren't trying to hide that fact. Which is good. "Gotcha" interviews can be funny and all, but they're also kind of mean spirited and I'm not really a fan of tricking people into making fools of themselves, even those who are legitimately fools in the first place).
