Watch Joshua De lisle AWCB walk you through the creation process with his welded and hand forged works of Art and Luxury items.
In this episode I forge a new door knocker for a historical London site. Even though the original was made from brass, the client specifically wanted the new one to be forged from steel.

    • Thank you so much. I'm not sure many of my new subscribers want to see forge work judging by the view count. I appear to have gained a larger following for a different content that is apart from my original objectives. So far this video has lost me 25 subscribers..... Not sure what to think of it. cheers J

    • @@joshuadelisle You will have all your statistics on viewing figures, retention etc but I really wouldn't concern yourself over losing 25 subs over this particular video. If that's indeed what actually happened. There are many reasons to consider, including coincidence, age and reasons for subbing in the first place, to name a few. You may have gained more than you lost, I don't know. I can't say why they unsubscribed but it's likely they only came here in the first place because of something completely different, as I did. The difference is that I was intrigued and appreciated the skill, along with the education I received. It was a different type of video but it was interesting to me and regardless of whether this particular video interested me or not, it doesn't detract from the fact that your channel is worthwhile, entertaining and educational. The only reason that I personally, would unsubscribe, is if it became too much of a product promotion. Which would be a shame because that side of things is already saturated and mostly by (often clearly) biased reviews.

  • I just got my 3 burner forge a few months ago and have been loving it. But I got it to learn to make things/art to sell but I have a congenital heart condition and after 2 open heart surgeries and oh my god I can't work long enough and hard enough to put in a full day because im busy catching my breath every 2-3 mins and having to take long breaks throughout the day. I love forging and blacksmithing is my families ancestral trade. My last name "Maillet" translates to english from an Acadian french dialect to the act of striking hot steel, or "he who strikes metal." But lord thunderin' jesus I need a power hammer like yours. You actually inispiried me to commit to learning my families trade after I watched the couple videos on your power hammer and drew up plans for something similar but am on a fixed income due to my heart condition along with the effect it has on my mental health. But it gives me all the more time to focus on pounding out things to sell to get the money together to eventually build my own power hammer, belt sander or whatever other tools I will need down the road. I look up to you as a model for what I want to be like when I'm you're age (I'm 28 xD) P.S. I should also mention that I graduated from Holland College on PEI, Canada with a welding and metal fabrication diploma. I was a 3 year program as long as you get the proper amount of OJT hours. I currently have at least logged 4400 instructed hours. 4500 is required to write the Canadian Red Seal Trade Certification that allows you to work anywhere in Canada and have your experience standardized throughout the provinces. Anyway, thanks for giving me the fuel in my tank to get to where I am today!

    • Thank you so much and well done for keeping going. It must be very difficult but I guess despite the difficulty, making stuff and having a physical item to show for the effort you put in is always going to beat doing anything else. I'm looking into building a hydraulic press, maybe from a diesel powered log splitter as it's basically pre-built but way cheaper than an official press and delivers 35tons of force. It may even cost the same as the power hammer costs to build if buying parts new. Apparently when I asked AI chatgpt which was better she was convinced a press was despite my arguments. Well see. Lots more research to be done. Take care. Cheers J

  • Nice to see the power hammer back in action! Also nice to see the cunning use of opposite ends of the heating spectrum used to their own advantages (Induction and Charcoal is about as far apart as you can get technologically). I also liked the use of explanations inserted in rather than excessive talking ..... it worked well!

  • 😯😲🤓 amazing 😃… I still have it in the back of my head to build one of your power hammers . But recently got my hands on a 3 phase 12 ton hydraulic press .. I use it to put pressings in sheet metal , but would it be enough pressure to resize stock at forging temp 🤔 🤔🤔🤔.. I don’t even have a forge 🤣🤣.. I’ve got oxy acetaline . But is 12 tons even in the ball park before I waste a bunch of gas 🤔🤣🤣🤔

    • Nice well done. I really want to build a press myself. I've been looking at re purposing a 37ton log splitter. The coaliron presses are 12t for forging with, they do a 25t also. I'm also designing a new forge for charcoal that has a hand crank bellows. Cheers J

    • 😯 cool, will give it a try 🤓🙊 It’s got a huge hydraulic pump motor .. about 7kw . So down stoke is fast 🤓 it’s got a two button firing system so you can’t have your hands free to squash them 🙈🙊 need to bypass that onto a foot switch .. but yeah just one more mildly terrifying contraption for the collection 😝

  • "A LIFE WORTH LIVING" ? - What's that, the one where you do whatever makes you feel like life is worth living, no matter who it hurts and you let be hurt? smh. DO NO HARM is the best that's been come up with so far; yet nobody is doing it; what do any of you have that's better than doing no harm???

    • @@joshuadelisle Sorry, which part is "very true" J - the "do whatever makes you feel like life is worth living, no matter who it hurts" OR the "nobody is doing" no harm part? And maybe more to the point, are we going to keep participating in and perpetuating a scheme that the majority doesn't even acknowledge does more harm than good - which should include doing horrific things to children and ruining lives? Who's side are you on?

      @01mustang05@01mustang05 Жыл бұрын
    • @@01mustang05 do no harm is a good idea, that's the true part. What isn't true is your assumption that to forge a life worth living is to harm someone. In fact a life worth living is to be selfless which is the definition of love. The opposite to love is selfishness. To forge means to make it happen, to do, to create and not be idle. Just like the God of creation who sent Jesus to do the ultimate act of unconditional love which was to pay for the full penalty we are all guilty of and to enable freedom, healing and purpose for our lives. Do no harm isn't good enough, we need to do what is right in the first place.

      @joshuadelisle@joshuadelisle Жыл бұрын
    • @@joshuadelisle Is it "right" for you to accuse me and accuse me of making an assumption that I never made? And is it "right for you alone to define what love is, what the opposite to love is(which I thought was commonly thought of as hate) for myself, my children, and everyone else? And can someone being severely harmed "forge a life worth living"??? Are you trying to bully or ignore people who are being severely harmed right now? Are you trying to brainwash me with religion that harmed and is harming myself and my children and others children? And are you saying my young children are "guilty" of anything??? Are you doing "what's right in the first place"? What's better than doing no harm in the first place? Please don't bully me, just tell me what you think without telling me what to think, do, and agree with. Can you do this? Can you see the harm you and the majority are doing to people?

  • I don't know where you live, but here in the Northeastern United States, electricity is $0.64/kWh (thank you enviroNazis) so there is no way anybody can afford to use an inductive heating coil to do fun things like make decorative iron work. Alas.
