It's always so cool to see Cy working, and explaining things. He's one of those who hasn't just "done it all", but is an inspiration to others to also do more. In a world of "toxic masculinity" and other vicious anti-human narratives, we need more people like Cy, and more people inspired by people like Cy. I'm proud to have a knife he made, and to use it. It's not a museum piece to be viewed and revered, but a tool to be used and respected, with a nod to the maker.
Any Cy Swann content is GOLD. So much knowledge!
Did you see his smile as he talked about picking up the hammer in a rain storm?
Man I respect these old timers and their lived experience, knowledge and hard work
So good to see one of my favorite human beings up close and personal once again = ) Thank you Cy and thank you Nate.
I would give up my vacation for the year to spend a long afternoon talking to Cy. More realistically listening to Cy. Scott and Nate thank you so much for letting us get to know a sliver of Cy!!!!
Cy Swan is a man among men, a hero and a man to emulate, like Scott. Thank you for sharing Cy, thank you for sharing ANYTHING. It is all appreciated. Mr. Sweetie likes Cy's approach to shop organizational management. How wonderful to have friends like Cy and Ken. Merry, merry Christmas to all including Cy.
“ Grease is ALoT cheaper than parts “ Cy Swan
19:20 😀
Thank you Scott and Nate 🙏 getting to visit with Cy Swan is like getting an early Christmas present 🎄🎁🎉😸😺 he's a living Legend ! 🙏🙏
real people, real stories. so so refreshing. thank you .
Always enjoy the videos with Cy! Such a remarkable man!
Cy reminds me so much of my grandpa. Sure do miss him. Thanks for the video. :)
Cy’s Beaudry is a Champion model 11 # 400. The only bigger Beaudry is the model 11 it is a # 500. There is probably more information available online for this brand of power hammer than any other ever constructed.
There is a lot of wisdom in this video.
Thank you Cy, Thank you EC1, EC2. That gentleman should be declared a national treasure.
He is very patient to speak on camera like this. Thank you
Cy is one of the last of the old breed. Love hearing his stories.
Thanks for sharing that piece of history with us, Cy!
I was thinking about Cy yesterday, thanks for having him on.
Cy is absolutely one of the most interesting personalities on the internet. No brag, just fact, a real truth speaker.
I could listen to Cy for hours!!
Thanks for getting Sy to tell us about this. Even @ 76 I enjoy getting the knowledge from "The OLd Timers".
Older-than-me timers, lol
What a guy! He absolutely tames that beast. Thanks for sharing this brilliant slice of history. 👏👍
Awesome video. Thank you Scott and Cy for making this about a beautiful tool. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I could listen to Cy tell stories all day.
Cy is quite the character, what an interesting fellow, thanks for sharing, He is the principal of "old school"
Get as much filmed of him while you can. National treasure.
Glad To See CY Again... Need More Cy...He Reminds me of my Grand paw /Uncles That i Grew Up Around & When They Talk You Shut Up & Listen !..lol.
He not only can expert blacksmith , he knows exactly how the machine tools operate mechanically, I guess that’s the difference between an expert and master
I wish my dad could have met Cy they are kindred spirits, thanks for sharing.
impressive hammer, Will Stelter restored one with a clutch like this a few month ago and it was impressive to see all the component that worked together
I think will stelter has a view videos on restoring a powerhammer like this with a clutch good content thank you cy
"If it doesn't work get a bigger hammer" or In many cases measure correctly. Thanks Nate, for the video neat stuff
Always happy to see Cy on the channel!😁
Cy talking about his buddy slipping and falling on his ass is the smiliest I've seen him in any of his appearances on this channel
That is one impressive hammer for sure! I have worked in Tulsa at the tech school for 23 years, we missed 2 week of school during that ice storm! Cy is a true American craftsman for sure!!
Thanks for the video love the big old hammers and watching the skilled young man work 😀👍
Love to see Cy make an appearance! 👏👏
$6,000 in 2005 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $9,452.26 today, an increase of $3,452.26 over 18 years.
The world need more cu swans
Keep the Cy videos coming!
Thank you for all the awesome content and amazing videos!!!
Love watching all your videos and love hearing all of Cy’s stories. I’m from Oklahoma and remember that storm. I was the safety director for a trucking company and most of the state was without power for close to a week. Our trucks were parked for many days. One of the main reasons we bought a wood burning stove for our house so we could keep warm if something like that ever happened again.
Just the other day I was wondering how cy had been doing, glad to see a new video with him!
Getting out in the world, meeting experienced people and learning all the different things they do with their lives is a valuable education. If you can't get out for whatever reason, watching videos like this is an excellent alternative.
Great story reminds me of my dad's Blacksmith shop he worked in back in the 1970s
Very informative video Cy show your smarts and wisdom 👏 😮
Wonderful.. what a great old man.
Nate, I went through that ice storm in OKC, & 2 more. 12 days w/out power and keeping a college with generator power is a challenge. Now days students ask how long until we get the wifi back on line.
That's a great hammer Cy. That sounded like a hairy trip getting it to your shop!
Of Man & Machine ✊🏼
A wonderful man and machine.
Love this kind of video
Hammer like that is what dreams are made of for an aspiring blacksmith
Yup...Jan '05 was a nasty one! In OK it didn't come down as snow. Fell wet, and froze on impact. Just about broke off every tree limb in the state!
Very interesting vid. Thanks for sharing.
Cool hammer and amazing man!
Cy ios a real treasure!
wonderful! like it 👍
Very cool hammer
Awesome
Nice.
This is the best drinking game ever. This must become a regular format.
CY was apart of that classical era that produced so much creativity. The creativity is still there it's just necessity is the mother of invention and we don't really have to struggle much that stimulates creativity. Might be why cannabis stimulates creativity because it puts a stress on the body.
one day I'll have one.
I remember that Strom Sy.
👍👍. I was born in Cambridge, MA.
Cy may be referring to the "Creusot steam hammer" - article in Wikipedia.
They don’t make many men like Cy Swan anymore.
Or men in general.
Doesn’t Will Stelter have the same one?
You guys on the east coast or just inland. The front loader trucks are badass when you have a good driver. Don’t need a chute man
Someone should install some remote grease fittings to keep him off the ladder.
"Greese is a lot cheaper than parts" ❤
Dude’s got a beeper
That’s gotta be the quickest way to get hammered
Got to be more than 400#
5:26 Seven yards?!!
Yeah.😊
Phenomenal story, but bad angles in the end. You gotta show the steel being shaped at all times.
Le Creusot Steam Hammer....
The ice storm was in 2007
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I clicked the link to Cy's knives. Didn't work though. :(
Is it 400 lbs or 7500 lbs?
The man will be buried with that power hammer.
always judge a man by the size of his hammer, youll know exactly what he does!
Younger then??? He was 70 when he went to get the hammer.
take a point, right?
"... I'd hammer in the morning I'd hammer in the evening..."
7 yrds on concrete under it… “When I start it up, I’ll show you..” Start er’ up!
Jesse James said his power hammer makes the blood shoot out from under his fingernails REAL good. !
I live im tulsa Oklahoma
Sand Springs here

@ Essential Craftsman - Have you all seen @Will Stetler's Beaudry power hammer? I feel like you all and Cy should meet up just because of the hammers. He runs his with a clutch, but modified. Good stuff! I love hearing Cy's stories! Be well.
