The Cane Corso is an Italian Mastiff with impeccable guarding and companion qualities. This breed is an incredible watch dog as well as work out buddy. The Cane Corso makes when exercised and socialized is an incredible house pet. This breed can be active in the streets and chill in the house provided given proper leadership and structure.

How are Corsos with children? I do have one child and I'm interested in getting a Corso for our family. I love big dog breeds and I'd love to have a Corso. Although I've also never come across a breeder for this specific breed in my area. I live in Ontario Canada and I wouldn't know where about to find one, but these dogs are beautiful and I am definitely interested in owning one in the future.
I'm no expert on this breed and I've never owned one personally but in my shop where I used to work at, an older man used to come in with his old corso and I know that he had grandchildren who used to visit on a regular basis so I presume they could get on.
I have a cane corso and i have to say they are very protective over its family. however they require alot of training. if they dont have the proper training they can be aggressive.
Depending on where you are in Ontario, I know there are a bunch of breeders in Michigan. No idea if they are reputable or reliable, but they are present. Might be a place to look for more specific answers. My understanding of the breed is that the early socialization is the key. And that the kids are respectful.

My 10 year old male Cane Corso Romulus was killed in a fight with a mountain lion last summer. He died as he lived, he fought many hogs, mountain lions, wolves, coyotes, and bears through the years while protecting my home and livestock. But finally he got to old. A cougar next to my home, surprised Romulus, and pulled him into a deep ditch upside down, and pulled his head between two small trees where he could not move. The cougar then tore open his throat, by the time I got to him it was to late. My other male Cane Corso chased the cat off. Romulus pulled himself from the ditch, and he died at my feet. I miss him. Cane Corsos are great dogs.

They are very low energy dog. I have mine for 13 years now. Super friendly and very cuddly. Very calm. She is not doing anything special. Is the dog itself that loves to lay down and relax for the most part!

I'm terrified of dogs and my old had neighbor moved in with a Cane Corso. They'd leave her alone outside a lot so we'd talk to her from the window or porch and say hi to her and she started treating us like family. She'd unlatch her gate and come over to our house. Sweetest dog I've ever met.
I'm a locksmith who answered a midnight call for an auto lockout last year. As I walked toward the car, the 'customer' cracked me in the eye, and said he was taking my van. My 130 lb. Corso came out of the passenger window, over the top of the guy's stolen car, and 'ragdolled' the guy over and over while he BEGGED for mercy. By the time I left the scene, his clothes looked like confetti, and so did he.

I just had to put down my cane corso which i had for years since i was i teenager im now 24. She was such a loyal and beautiful dog, i felt safe when she was around. Im sorry to vent to you all but i jus needed to tell everyone enjoy your loved ones including pets because you dont when the last time your gonna see them. May god be with you all!!
I am so sincerely sorry for your incredible loss. I was a cat person until my daughter brought home a lab chow puppy mix at 3 months old who ended up being my dog. I love this video as I am a pet sitter dog walker I'm not. advertising I'm just saying what I do and why I listen to different videos on different breeds of dogs. I rescued a Stafford Terrier boxer mix everybody says he's a pit bull that's fine I don't really care what they call him. I always wanted a Cane Corsol. I've had to put down many of cats and when I had for 18 years my condolences go out to you that you lost your dog. I have a 15 year old lab Chow mix and I am not looking forward to the day that he crosses the Rainbow Bridge.

These dogs are happiest when being loved, we have a giant who is timid like a little pup but he has shown his protective abilities without eating anyone, thanks for that we protect our pittie too and keep trouble from finding them. Of course the big guy gets the worse of any kind of protective nature. Not fair but that is how it is.
Smart owner when it comes to these breed of dogs, she understands how to play the pack leader and don't let the Cane Corsos lead her great owner.

She said she wouldn't take the breed to a dog park because if something happens, it would be her dog's fault. Some people prefer dogs that can be trusted around other dogs. So that might be the kind of person who wouldn't want one. In case you weren't actually serious with your question "Who can not want one?", I apologize. They also shed more than she makes it sound.
animalobsessed1 I for one stay clear of dog parks!!!! Nothing but rookie dog owners who just got done watching an episode of the Dog Whisper and think they know about dog behavior. Nothing but shit toy breeds that are un socialized. Please my best friend bought a Cane Corso back in the early 90's before anyone even knew what this breed was, so I'm very familiar with this breed. Most Corso's won't start the fight but heaven help you they won't back down. Mostly every breed sheds. Corso's shed less than most hairy breed of dog. Now go elsewhere and get your troll on!

animalobsessed1 dog parks are more of a modern thing I wouldn't prefer them at all to people. I have a APBT and a chihuahua/daschund mix and I only do socialize play dates with other dogs I do not trust dog parks. It's only for the safety of my dogs I'm just not that type of owner who likes playing Russian roulette with my dogs.

My Corso Zeus was the greatest investment I ever made. He is intensely loyal to me and is very protective. He is a massive 135 pounds at 2 years old. Training was awesome because he was very easily trainable for me. He follows command words and hand gestures. He is a warm pillow in the winter and my huggy bear at night. When we go out together people ooo! and ahh! and always stop to ask questions about him. He is absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't imagine my life without him in it.
Candi Cane i dont know if i should get one becouse i have a lot of work to do (job,kids ect..) can you tell me please if this breed needs A LOT work . becouse i dont have so much time .. i can take him for running in the morning and at evening .. is that enough for him? (and i would train him in free time)
Speaking from my experiences with Corso's , this breed needs their share of exercise. Being so energetic, athletic and agile, I have to allow time to let Zeus just run to his heart's content (his speed is amazing by the way). But above all, he requires personal interaction and lots of companionship. Because this breed lives for their family, its possible for them to become destructive if left alone too much. Also, time for socialization is a must. So there is quite a bit of work involved, especially raising from a pup.

If every dog owner had the intelligence of this woman there would be no problems with any breed of dog (Corso or any other); unfortunately there are too many idiots in the world (not just for having dogs but it would be a long discussion for a youtube comment). However they are wonderful and lucky dogs (and the husband of this beautiful lady is luckier than them). Congratulations and sorry for my eng.

Not really. She missed out the most important part about the breed or at least it's ancestors. They were bred for war by the Romans and Rome had entire regiments of these dogs.

Really beautiful dogs, I had a 135 lb Blue Brindle Cane Corso named Leonidus, incredible family dog. Much like she said in the video he wouldn't run away for anything, very protective of the home and property but very placid in public unless they sense something is wrong. He was able to knock over a 7x10 wooden fence to chase an intruder out of our back yard, they are insanely strong. Unfortunately he had to be put down after he defended my girlfriend from 2 stray dogs that attacked her, he killed both of them but they took out his eye and ripped open too many blood vessels and he didn't make it to the vet.

I just lost my baby and he would sit with me like that all day if I let him. I had 8 of the best years with him and I miss his beautiful face. I have had many dogs over my lifetime and the Cane Corso is the most loyal, connected dog I have had. She is so right that you can not leave them, they love their family and would be devastated. I will say mine did have a favorite :) I am so fortunate it was me. I miss my Shams so much!

Good luck with your new baby! You are right, I am having such a hard time with this loss. My baby was diagnosed almost a year ago with lymphoma and we tried everything, including 6 months of chemo but it didn't help and it broke my heart. He was still so vibrant until the last two weeks of his life but then his throat swelled and he was suffering. He passed away at home surrounded by his family and on his mommas lap where he loved to be. So sorry about your girl, she was so young :( Your new baby will have many years by your side xx

The owner is spot on with her corso observations. I do not take my corso, Zara, (fawn, female) to dog parks. It's a set up for failure since folks easily fault corsos as the instigator of any questionable interaction with another dog breed. I agree about socialization occurring through exposure being the ideal approach for corsos because they are alert and guardy dogs. Zara doesn't care to greet all dogs. Other dogs have barked or reacted to her size and Zara responds by being a calm stoic sphinx just quietly observing the situation and waiting to takes her cue from me. Exposing corsos to as a variety of stimuli is a fabulous way to train along with hand walking! Zara doesn't flinch around teens flying by on skateboards, bicycles, or even firework displays.
What a wonderful video and a wonderful woman speaker Annie is, I never found myself bored or wanting to watch something else while she was speaking, and what a great learning experience just watching it as well. I have a friend with 2 kids, both Children were raised with the Breed and i was floored with the Corso behavior around all Children and i even seen for myself just how smart they are when it comes to Guarding the Home when they are gone, even after meeting the Breed and spent time around him, still he kept me at Bay and men't it. This is an absolutely amazing breed! Like you said - impeccable guarding and companion qualities. They're really good with children and surprisingly with any small animal(we once shared a house with a female corso, a cat, two hamsters and 2 budgies). Socialization is key.

I had a Corso for a while. She was very attentive and protective of me. She imprinted on me when I was 10, so my parents didn’t think it was safe for me to have all the control over a dog that weighed more than I did. She ended up attacking my 7 y/o sister because she got too close to me. It was so sad to give her up. I still miss her 10 years later :,(
Everything she said about the Cane is so true. I have had two. My oldest died but my male who was the runt of the litter is so awesome! Love this breed! Would never own any other type. Not for everyone. Damn loyal to the end! God Bless the Cane Corso!
Yet another awesome video! Love the way you do these videos, really easy to watch, informative and gets to the point. Its so handy for people (like me) who may not get the opportunity to be able to meet these breeds and figure out what they are like, this gives an insight into the characteristics of the breed which i may not have known otherwise! Thank you for explaining what "socialization" is really all about. Excellent description! As mastiffs go, I'm so happy that Cane Corsos haven't suffered much yet from show people and misguided macho heads who like to make big dogs even bigger. Zeke makes wonderful videos but I have so often made points about how dogs are being ruined by being made bigger, with loose skin and too much weight. Cane Corsos overall are still tight, lean, fit dogs that move well for dogs that can get to 100 pounds or more. They usually don't get MUCH higher than 100. THAT is a large athletic animal! And it's a much more comfortable body for a dog to live its life in. May they stay that way.

My cane corso is like the energizer rabbit he never stops, i own a lot of different dogs and breeds but the cane corso, at least mine, acts like a child he is very playful and can run fast for long distances, he is also very vocal makes a lot of noises but does not often bark. Still a pup only a year and a few months old, now starting to fill out a little he is about 110 lbs.

I had a Cane Corso he was my childhood dog i was with him my whole life since i was born and we let his ears down...their better looking with down ears its natural for them and their amazing dogs i love them so much his name was Shadow and i remember the times people would stare at me and my good old dog (i was around 2) playing in the backyard ruffly jumping and rolling in the mud Their loyal dogs and will takr a bullet for their loved ones Shadow was a blue brindle dog the onlu problem was that he was never socialized because hr was abused.....and had a perminent fear of men my father and brothers are the only men he ever trusted He was the best dog that i ever had and i miss him dearly (he was uthanized because of his old age and sadly cancer also) R.I.P Shadow Best friends Now and Forever 💙💙🐶🐶

I have a 4 year old male pitbull and a 1.5 year old male Cane Corso. They sleep together, play together, and workout together. They don't fight or hunch each other. I corrected them when I noticed bad actions. It's all in how you raise them. Obviously they don't share a bone or food bowl. My dogs have their flaws but not in their relationship.

I can't love this enough. You understand what socialization is--getting comfortable and non-reactive about normal everyday things. Not meeting and greeting every dog and person. Well done! I have Kangal Dogs and they are also a breed that tends to attract thugs who want a "protection dog" that will attack people. You don't need the liability! You just need a deterrent, and these dogs work great for that.

Gorgeous dogs. Their serious expression and jaw line make them look extremely intimidating is also what makes them such a beautiful dog. Love the Corso's...my sister has 2 massive boys: Huck and Angus as well as 2 Frenchies: Quinn and Lilo. She has done an awesome job training them over the years...and all 4 dogs get along so well with each other and their buddies that they socialize with often. When people first see the boys they are afraid and ready to run for their lives until she let's them know that they don't behave aggressively. They are very lovable and I'm always prepared to get drooled on when they see me. As for me...I'm a Rottie girl.

this is a fantastic video on the breed! i'm so glad that it was pointed out that this breed is NOT for everyone and also not a great dog park candidate!. I have a 6 month old that i take to work and train daily. I love every bit of her but she is definitely not an 'easy' dog. they need constant and positive training. If you don't love the work or time involved don't get a cc :)

I love my monsters! hard work but very rewarding. They are over sized lap-dogs. We have 2 Italian imports and 1 Siberian. We have fed raw since 6 weeks with great results. One is junior akbc champion but all now well above breed standards. My eldest is 65kg at 14 months! but still lean. Makes you wonder about these standards. They have great pedigrees not just 5 gen as most advertised. We are registered with 4 bodies and have masses of paperwork. These need the right owner to give its needs. Lots of structure, exercise and great diet = great dog. Thanks for the video brother, I will be sending you one soon as I get chance. God Bless

I like her style (and SUPER easy on the eyes!)...i love my Corso - ive had other large breeds, but this breed, seems to have a great balance of fun and chill. Be warned - they SNORE at night! lol
Yeah they seem like they have a stress free life and everything is in sync, along with her knowledge of the breed great job.

I have to say, all the mastiffs are pretty cool as far as big dogs go. they seem to be pretty useful and fun dogs to have around. they seem to have found their "job" in the modern world better than a lot of other dogs. their skills and breeding seem to have transferred over to living in houses today.
I've always been a very tough critic when it comes to dog owners. Having bred, raised, shown & trained West 🇩🇪 German 🇩🇪 show 🐕🦺 line 🐕🦺 Shepherds for the past 25 years; there's been a lot of babysitting & hand holding with customers along the way. So yeah, over time as I stated earlier; I've become a tough critic. If the dog owner truly gets it; he/she 99.9% of the time will have no issues with the dog as time progresses. I was very impressed with everything this girl said and does with her dogs! As a first time Corso owner, expanding to owning 3; WoW! She trains, disciplines when necessary & properly socialized all 3 dogs. Yup, she gets an A+ for all that she does with these dogs. I always say when it comes to working dogs: " They have to respect you to ❤ you". They ALL truly ❤ her!!!
Hi, Annie, your view on socialization is spot on! I take my cane corso out all the time and i'm sure you know questions and commentary come with bringing them out welcomed or not.... getting back to my point i don't want everyone petting or touching her but she has to be used to all the commotion and know shes in a safe environment and it keeps her from reacting out of fear. So spot on I agree completely and thank you all for the positive spotlight on the breed.

These dogs have always reminded me of a mix between a Presa Canario and a Boxer.
Thats because most corsos are bred in with boxer nowadays, not individually but the westernized breed as a whole. It's the facial shape for me that does it. Having seen a few of the original type corsos down in italy, what the breed should actually be like, most U.S/UK corsos and other parts of the world, the undershot bite shows they're basically a glorified boxer
There are a lot of Cane Corsos with the boxer blood, unfortunately. However, it didn’t originate here, the boxer was actually first introduced into the Corso breed in Italy. They may have breeders who kept to the original type, but they were the original ones to go with boxer influence
@@namrylth432 is true, in Italy the best place to get a real corso are the countryside of south and not the famous expo-farms...
